What Does It Take to be Good Parents?
Good morning ladies and gentlemen. I am Chong Cia Ling, the founder of Brainy Montessori. I am so grateful to have such an honour standing
here to deliver my speech entitled "What does it take to be good parents?". I am sure all the parents here will agree with me that being parents is
tough. Bringing up children is a very difficult task. Everyone wishes to be good parents. However, sometimes we could be so discouraged and
helpless when we get the feedback that we are not good parents although we have done our upmost to provide the best for our children. What is the
cause of that? Today, let us learn how to be good parents together.
A parent is said to be a good parent only after seeing how he has...show more content...
They should not a get a feeling that their parents are not taking care of them as his friend's. Eventually, they will feel rejected and low self–esteem. In
this case, parents must be very careful.
However, we as parents need to note that every child is unique so it takes a different approach for that child to feel seen and loved. The hard work
for us as parents is accepting who our child is and cherishing her for being that person, even while guiding behaviour. Parents need to use a positive
lens and celebrate every step in the right direction. One of the ways is to show affection through warm words and physical touch. You will have no
idea how a gentle cuddle, a little encouragement, appreciation, approval or even a smile can go a long way to boost the confidence and well–being of
your children. For instance, when you must correct a child, do it in love. It can avoid criticism and blaming. It is important to avoid using negative
vocabulary like "bad" because your child may internalize the label, thinking she is unacceptable instead of just the behaviour. When you love your
child wisely, she will learn and love you back. When your child fail the test, analyse the reasons of failing the test with her, encourage her to try harder
next time instead of scolding, blaming and hitting.
Good parenting is much more than just teaching your children right and wrong, good or bad. It is also about 'respect'. I am not talking about your

Good Parenting In A Good Man Is Hard To Find
A parent's ability to properly raise a child stands as the most pivotal test in their chapter of life as guardians. The quality of a guardians "parenting"
skills create the foundation for the child to grow and prosper in their lifetime as good, moral human beings. As a society, we understand that we need
to teach our children right from wrong, not talk to strangers, and to always share with others. These just begin to break the surface of the many lessons
that good parents should instill into their children's young malleable brains. Now, just because this grand expectation of "good parenting" stand so
highly in society, doesn't mean they always step up to the plate and perform like they should. Some parents in today's society do not actually...show

In today's society, some unfortunate families stay stuck in a vicious cycle of crime that they can't evade. The parents resort to a life of crime so
inevitably the children follow in their parents footsteps and live the same lifestyle. In "A Good Man is Hard to Find" the concept of kids learning the
wrong lessons from their parents remains quite apparent. June and John both hold tendencies to shriek out words of pure disrespect to any person they
talk to. For example, John expresses that "Tennessee is just a hillbilly dumping ground," disrespecting not only the Grandmothers opinion on wanting
to go to Tennessee, but Tennessee as a state as well. Also, June says "I wouldn't live in a broken down place like this for a million bucks!" in several
variations throughout the story. The kids act and speak in this manner because they learn this from their parents and Grandmother who don't assume
the roles of good parents. In addition to disrespectfulness, the children often times behave violently and fight with not only each other but other family
members as well. On the drive to Florida, June and John began to savagely slap each other because supposedly John doesn't play fairly. Instead of
handling it like two good, respectful children, they result in physical confrontation. Later on, John starts to kick the back of his father's chair when

Essay on The Importance of Good Parenting
Introduction
Parenting style is one of the most attributed issues when dealing with care for children by their own parents. Parents should be always knowledgeable
about the impact of proper parenting so that their child will grow productively. In this case, the level of parenting issues can help to improve the
process of child's learning development. This paper is going to discuss at least three parenting style for children in order to explore more about these
proper parenting styles, which could help to improve the child's physical as well as cognitive aspects. The nature of providing proper parenting can
be provided by guardians or parents who will be responsible for attending all of their children's needs. This is to enhance a more...show more content...
The reason behind for this particular style is to allow children to become more productive and responsible at all times. Being present with the children
helps them to establish their trust with themselves as well as to other individuals or group. This style can be regarded as a responsible parenthood
because parents may always want to witness their child's physical activities under their supervision. Whenever parents are now going to take care for
their children, they want to experience proper parenting on a first hand basis. It means that they should personally see, feel, hear, and smell their
children's presence, which is a positive parenting style that is more focused on children's development. Physical parenting style can be related to
ensuring their children's health and wellness. This includes feeding their children with nutritious food so that they can grow up healthy. This is
accompanied by providing children with essential food supplements containing vitamins and nutrients that would help to promote their physical
integrity. Parents are always responsible for seeking medical attention when their children suddenly feels or suffers from an illness because children
have always the right to seek for medical attention whenever their health is at risk. During first months and years, children are always mandated by the
health care government to be vaccinated so that they will not suffer from

Characteristics Of A Good Parent
What makes a good parent? People have always tried to find out the answer to this question, because they think what makes a good parent makes a
good family. As soon as children starts to feel that their parents care too much about them, they try to get back at them and do just what their parents
don't want them to do. On the other hand, kids who face lack of freedom may end up turning into rebels and trouble makers.
I believe that another thing that makes a good parent is trust. Being consistent with your child is so important because that's how trust is formed and
kept. Being consistent is not changing the rules. Being consistent is not promising rewards that kids will never see. Being consistent is not threatening
punishment without carrying it through. Children put trust in their parents from the very beginning and it must not be betrayed because once it is,
once children find out they have been lied to, you will have to literally as a parent have to go above and beyond to win it back. Another thing is
communication. Being able to communicate with your child will build confidence. Parents should not be afraid to talk to their children. They should
not jump to conclusions when they are curious about something. A parent's relationship with his or her child will be reflected in the child's actions
including child behavior problems, Natale explains. "If you don't have a good relationship with your child, they're not going to listen to you. Think how

The Importance Of Good Parenting
Children are heavily influenced by their parents, environment, and the rest of their family due to the memories they withhold, the plasticity of their
brain, and human nature. Suffering due to maltreatment of the parent during childhood is detrimental for the rest of the child's life. The level of
parenting and the commitment of parents leaves a mark on the child and will shape their actions in the future. Throughout childhood, a child needs to be
nurtured and cared for in order to function as a proper adult. If a child is ignored or abused in the crucial point of development (1–3 years old), that
will stick with them for the rest of their life. Good parenting implements good habits, a good attitude, and acceptance into their child and is vital to
success of the child. Maltreatment of the child from the parents leads to an impaired ability to accept and feel love and nurturing (Shonkoff & Phillips,
2000). The first relationships that a child has leaves a mark on them and teaches them how to navigate through tough and high–stress situations, and
helps them act more confident in time of turmoil (Shonkoff & Phillips, 2000). "Confirmed that what young children learn, how they react to the people
and events around them, and what the expect from themselves and others are deeply affected by their relationship with their parents, the behavior of
parents, and the environment of the home in which they live." (Shonkoff & Phillips, 2000). For example, it was shown in Romanian infants

Definition Essay: What Makes A Good Parent?
What makes a good parent? Technically, the dictionary definition states "good parenting happens when a person creates for a child a stable, nurturing
home environment, is a positive role model, and plays a positive and active part in a child's life" (wps.k12.va.us). On the contrary, many people would
simply say a great parent is someone who puts a roof over their children's head and a plate of food on the table, but in reality, it's so much more than
that. A good parent is someone who has an open and trusting relationship with their children, loves and supports them unconditionally, and teaches
them important lifelong morals that will shape them into a good person in the future.
At a young age, children need to be taught by their parent(s) what's right and wrong. By teaching kids early on about proper manners and discipline, it
will set them up for a more successful future, and avoid having to learn it later on, when it especially matters. Raising kind, thoughtful, and well...show

When parents support their child's ideas, they are able to pursue their goals and ideas. Whether it's learning how to ride a bike or winning
valedictorian at graduation, it is so important to be supportive with everything they do. Having someone in a child's life who supports them not only
gives them confidence, but it also makes them want to do praiseworthy acts again. They are being applauded for doing positive acts, and know that
they are making someone else proud.
Being a good parent involves lots of hard work and effort, but it has lifelong effects. In order to be a good parent, you need to teach your children
morals, have a healthy relationship, and love and support them throughout their whole life. Obtaining these characteristics and aspects have an
enormous impact on kids. By being a parent with these qualities, it allows children to grow up into amazing and respectful

What Is Good Parenting?
What is good parenting?
Do we have any common when we just came to this word? Yes, we do. When we were born we were babies, all of us had two arms, two legs and
one head, but do we have any common beside our body? Yes, we do. Even we have so many differences, we born in different hospital in different
country, have different family with different financial situation, but we still have one common, we all have parents. Parents create and bring us to this
word, but this is not mean they fulfill the task, parents have to raise their children. So, the questions is, they are good parents or not and what is the
criteria of good parenting.
There are so many good parenting's criteria. Steven Levy, a famous American journalist that born in 1951, in his essay "Motivate yourchild" he talk
about his understanding about criteria of good parenting, "Good parents condition their children to reach their best potential. They reward the children
for their performances and are continuously encouraging and motivating the children." (Levy 2) This means good parents should guide their children
to a right way and encourage them don't give up. Another criteria of good parenting from Jeanette Winterson, a famed writer who was born in
Manchester, 1959. She mention her viewpoint in her essay "Different children, different needs", she said "Good parents help their children to
experience plenty of responsibilities. The children are given jobs to while their progress is being monitored until they

The Three R 's Of Good Parenting

The Three R's of Good Parenting: Relationship, Respect, and Responsibility. Parenting: from dressing, teaching, disciplining, to simply supporting a
child, there are technically no right or wrong ways to provide care. Although there may not be a correct way, most, if not all, parents have been or will
be criticized at some point because of their decisions in parenting. So what exactly makes someone good at parenting? Amother, father, or caregiver
who exercises good parenting fosters a healthy relationship with the child, demonstrates and reciprocates respect, and reinforces responsibility.
Parenting involves a lot more than just fathering or mothering a child. Often times, genetics don't play a role in parenting at all anymore. Someone
who parents is merely a person who takes on the responsibility of raising a child from a young age to adulthood. This can be through birth, adoption
or foster care. Due to the large scale shift in society and offspring over time, I will be using the term "caregiver" to signify any person who
consistently cares for a child throughout the rest of this paper. Regardless of the title used, each person ultimately performs the same duties involved
with parenting and it is no task easily achieved.
One of the most important things that a caregiver provides a child is a healthy relationship. The relationship held between a child and their caregiver is
extremely important for emotional

PARENTING PRACTICES
Parenting a child is a very important role. Parents teach a child how to behave and they provide the needs for the child. Parenting practices varies from
generation to generation. In the chart below I have described parenting practices over generations in my family.

Parenting emphasized how healthy and important it was to breast feed. Throughout generations family members began to rely more on formula, than
breast feeding.
Early on in our generation, parenting did not focus on extra curriculum activities as much. All of the kids in the neighborhood loved to go outside and
play street ball, skate and just hang out. However, for Christmas parents would but balls, games, skates, jump ropes and etc. Later in our generation
parents in our family suggested that we participated in sports in school, but they did not push us to participate.
Cohort effects and its influence on the parenting practices of each generation:
The effects of being born at about the same time, exposed to the same in society, and influenced by the same demographic trends and thus, having
similar experiences that make the group unique from other group. Cohort effects are most likely to be a problem during cross–sectional study as it is
difficult to separate effects of developmental changes from cohort effects when examining age effects across a wide range of ages (Cozby, 2009).
Educated Black Americans were role models in all generations such as Martin Luther King Jr., Myia Angelo, Booker T. Washington, and many others.
These individuals had better life styles and better living standards as well. These are the factors that contributed to parents over generations, to push
their children to get the highest education possibly. Parents would

Persuasive Essay On Good Parenting
Imagine a world in which you could do anything that your heart desires. Play outside until the moon shines down? Shop for endless hours with your
parents' credit card and they wouldn't even bat an eye? Play XBox until you couldn't keep your eyes open? Would you agree that that would be an
example of great parenting? Many may argue that good parenting is letting their children have zero limits and no rules. But, in the memoir The Glass
Castle by Jeannette Walls, the text explains that it is not the best parenting practice to give kids total freedom. The best practice in parenting is to
actually support the children with their basic needs such as clothing, food and liquids, shelter, and limits. These are some of the practices that help
make a parent good and successful. First of all, many would insist that phenomenal parenting is letting their children have zero limits and that the
children would have no regulations. In the book, Rose Mary, Jeanette's Mother, who, through the book is shown to know what is wrong and right,
makes a terrible mistake. Jeanette Explains, "I was wearing the dress to cook hot dogs, watching them swell and bob in the boiling water as the late
morning sunlight filtered in through the trailer's small kitchenette window." (Walls 9). When Jeannette says "I was wearing the dress to cook hot
dogs." she is currently three years old at the time and wearing a long dress that is close to the flame and cooking hot dogs on her own. Later in the text,

Parenting Philosophy Essay
One's own upbringing defines their parenting philosophy. Good parents have known the importance of prompt decision making for their kids. The
same they would like their kids to follow. There is never a later time to teach this to kids. Make your kids good decision makers from an early age.
Impart your kids with intellect and foresightedness. We must know that kids brains grow and function at a faster than ours. The brain grows at an
amazing rate during development. At times during brain development, 250,000 neurons are added every minute! By the age of 2 years old, the
brain is about 80% of the adult size. The technique to be used is by asking your kid lots and lots of questions , which encourages them to find their
best interest answers .Start with a very simple way by giving them the options to choose what they would want to eat for tiffin tomorrow or question
their willingness to go out for an outing or a social event. Let them take the decision of what they want to eat , how they want to look and where they
want to go for the evening. This decisive power makes them value their time and resources. They gather self–control and become risk takers. They
would know what is good for them and what fits in their best interest. Kids will trouble us less when we mothers take them out or be happier staying
home with their elders. One of the major issues...show more content...

What Makes a Good Parent
To my mind, the right answer to the question "What makes a good parent" is not easily obtainable. You should spend a lot of time in contemplation
before reaching to it. And still there is no guarantee that finally you will get it.
Since many people have different opinions on raising a child there may be thousands absolutely different answers to one and the same question, a
rather tricky one, I would say.
To tell you the truth, after I asked myself the same question, several things went through my mind. What kind ofparent will I be? How will I raise a
child? Can I be a good parent? What turns ordinary people into good parents? Panic overtook me and I felt an overwhelming desire to rush to the local
bookstore to purchase loads of parenting...show more content...
However, this is where common sense takes over. There will be things about the way we were raised that we liked and disliked. The areas that we
did not like about the way we were raised can be turned around when we raise our own children. This is how, I think, we can develop into a good parent.
Right now I would like to give some tips on how to become a good, loving parent. To tell you the truth, I am a little bit afraid to sound superficial,
as I am not a parent yet. But, from another side, I had enough experience of being a child. So, now when I am in my early twenties I can evaluate the
way I was brought up by my parents. It is true, the older we are – the more we can understand our parents. Well, let's pass on to the tips:
Recognize your child for the individual that they are. No two children are alike, and even though they may resemble you, they are not you. You may
have a child that loves sports and one that can't stand to be outdoors. We should consider the individuality of each child as a blessing and pursue ways
to expand on that.
Discipline your child. That is not to say that you have to spank your child or beat them unmercifully. Choose the method that works best for your child.
You are the adult in your relationship and should be the master manipulator.
Be involved in the schooling. Ask questions regarding how your child

The Importance Of A Good Parenting
What constitutes a good parent is a highly subjective and controversial issue. With a number of new parents that are rising into today's life, it would
seem that mothers and fathers are looking for the parenting skills that will lead their children into becoming great people. Love and affection, stress
management, relationship skills, autonomy and independence, education and learning, life skills, behavior management, health, religion, and safety are
the ten materials, one can do to have a good parenting outcome according to Robert Epstein in his article "What Makes a Good Parent?". This question
becomes present while reading Jeannette Walls's memoir The Glass Castle. In consonance to good parenting, two material's autonomy and
independence, along with education and learning are present, and Jeannette's parents show these qualities instituting that they are good parents.
Autonomy and independence are good parenting traits because it allows the children to become more self–sufficient and less dependent on others
while developing the competence to understand the world that they live in. Jeannette's parents demonstrate this attribute consistently throughout the
book. When her mother leaves town she puts Jeannette in charge of her family for a whole summer. During this time, Jeannette is forced to act
maturely and tend to her family."That left me, at thirteen, the head of the household. Before Mom left, she gave me 200 dollars. That was plenty, she

Essay on An Effective Parenting Style
Parents have a major role in their children lives because of how they decided to raise their children. Parents tell their children what is right and what is
wrong. According to the Wikipedia, "Parenting style is a psychological construct representing standard strategies that parents use in their child rearing."
As parents use the technique to raise their children, they also shaped their value and personality. "Parenting style considers the balance between two
aspects of parenting, namely, control, and warmth" (Ginsburg, Durbin, Garcias–Espana, Kalicka, and Winston, p. 1041). The most commonly heard

likely to wear seat belts (Ginsburg, Durbin, Garcias–Espana, Kalicka, and Winston, p. 1043). As authoritative and authoritarian parents believe that
seatbelts are equal to safety (Ginsburg, Durbin, Garcias–Espana, Kalicka, and Winston, p. 1043); therefore, they socialized and hammered the habit of
wearing seatbelt into their children's brain. In contrast, as the result of parents being so uninvolved with their children lives, they were the most
likely to risk their life on the road as they are less likely to wear seatbelts when they are in the vehicle whether as a passenger or as a driver. They risk
their life two times more than

Being a parent comes with a lot of responsibility and difficult decision making. You always have your child's best interest at heart, but sometimes
your child may disagree with the rules you have set down. That is why, I believe, the perfect parenting style is democratic. You can compromise with
your child, but still have basic rules you want them to follow, without them feeling targeted or that you are being unfair. When i become a parent, I

That always worked on me, so hopefully they will pick up that trait. Another example of the democratic parenting style is when your teenager
wants to get a piercing or a tattoo. This subject is surprisingly easy for me to make rules upon. I would never tell my child not to get a piercing, but
I also would not give them consent. I know what it is like to have a mom who says no most of the time to everything. With my children, I do not
want to have to say no because that will make them want to do it even more. As long as I found the piercing or tattoo to be age appropriate and
small, I would not mind making an adjustment to their wishes as long as they made adjustments to mine. Secondly, what my children enjoy doing
in their spare time is not only a personal chioce, but an important aspect in anyones life. I would never tell my daughter she could not play hockey,
or my son that he could not dance. Even though I would not be a huge fan of my son dancing, it is his own decision and not mine to make.
Although I would control how much they play and where and when they play and everything that goes along with sports or clubs. Television shows
and movies are another thing that I have difficulty deciding where the line is for a certain age. Do I let my eight year old child watch 'Nightmare on

Making excellence in parenting requires some basic knowledge and skills in the field of parenting. Having a good qualitative standard in parenting
demands special skill and ability to nurture people from childhood to adulthood where they can be a replica of your true identity as a parent and makes
you a role model.
Good viable parents do not fall from heaven, neither were they taken to a special school of study in parenting, but they are the individuals that took
their time to build their homes and the lives of their children. They are the people that understand the principles of parenting and work towards it
earnestly and accordingly, against all odds.
Parenting is not just an act of giving birth and raising children, but an art of ensuring that those kids become responsible in the society and fulfil their
purpose in life.
In our society today, we have fathers and mothers whose major responsibilities is to give birth and ask God or Government to care for their children.
So also, we have single fathers and mothers, dormant fathers or

Essay about Successful Parenting
Raising children has always been a challenge to parents. In spite of extensive effort that some parent make, it still presents many unanswered problems.
Children learn how to become adults from the parents. Successful parenting requires the parents to have some very important qualities and
characteristics. There are so many characteristics and qualities of parenting, but only three of them stand out: a high sense morality, support and good
leadership. Having a good perspective of life comes from having good morals. Children seem to learn by following the examples of their parents. If a

A Child can develop serious mental issues when he or she is being treated differently and getting less attention than the others. A good parent needs to
have the ability to teach his or her children the deference between right and wrong by being a good example.
In this fast paced world, time goes fast and we often become busy to spend time with our children. It might seem to us that providing children with all
their needs is enough, but it is not. In fact, children crave for parents care and support. Spending time with children and listening attentively to their
concerns is very important. Some parents often feel annoyed by their kids and tend to ignore what they say. Sometimes what seems to be annoying talk
turns out to be something which is serious. My parents had to learn the hard way when they learned that I have

a lazy eye. They ignored me when I was telling them that I could mot see with my left eye because they thought I was just playing. Soon after, they
were overwhelmed when they learned that I actually had a lazy eye. It is important to support your children to achieve their goals and help them to
make the right choices for their lives. For instance, children often face difficulties choosing the right college or the right major to study which will be
perfect for them. A parent's job is to guide his or her children to the right direction and support them.
Good followers are the outcome of great leader.

Reflection Paper On Parenting
Parenting is a process of supporting children through the rigors of life. From infancy to adulthood, parents play an important role in the development of
their children. They are expected to ensure the child's health and safety, prepare them to function as citizens of society, and to teach them about what is
important in life. Many parents learn how to parent by recalling the way they were raised. However, with the stresses and strains that families face
today, it is also a good idea to be open to adding parenting tools to their toolbox, which can give them more confidence in their roles. Tools can help
strengthen the relationship between parents and children, as well as help children grow and develop more successfully. These tools are...show more

Good Parenting
What makes a good parent? People have always tired to find out the answer, because what makes a good parent makes a good family and what makes a
good family makes a good society and finally what makes a good society makes the world we live in a good one. Actually it is family where all the
social ills come from. It is family that predetermines what kind of society we will have tomorrow, because the society of tomorrow will be born to
and moulded in the family of today. So if we want to find out what makes a good parent and try to change the society we'll be living in we've got to
start right now. So let's start.

On the other hand kids who face lack of freedom may end up turning into introverts afraid to speak to other people or not as social (which is not a bad
thing though).
I believe that next thing any parent must not forget about is trust. Being consistent with your child is of paramount importance because that's how trust
is supported. Being consistent is not changing the rules half way through the game. Being consistent is not promising rewards that kids will never see.
Being consistent is not threatening punishment without carrying it through. From the very first day on Earth children put trust in their parents and it

Communication. Being able to communicate well builds confidence and charisma. Parents should not be afraid to talk to their children. They should

Good Parents

  • 1. good parents What Does It Take to be Good Parents? Good morning ladies and gentlemen. I am Chong Cia Ling, the founder of Brainy Montessori. I am so grateful to have such an honour standing here to deliver my speech entitled "What does it take to be good parents?". I am sure all the parents here will agree with me that being parents is tough. Bringing up children is a very difficult task. Everyone wishes to be good parents. However, sometimes we could be so discouraged and helpless when we get the feedback that we are not good parents although we have done our upmost to provide the best for our children. What is the cause of that? Today, let us learn how to be good parents together. A parent is said to be a good parent only after seeing how he has...show more content... They should not a get a feeling that their parents are not taking care of them as his friend's. Eventually, they will feel rejected and low self–esteem. In this case, parents must be very careful. However, we as parents need to note that every child is unique so it takes a different approach for that child to feel seen and loved. The hard work for us as parents is accepting who our child is and cherishing her for being that person, even while guiding behaviour. Parents need to use a positive lens and celebrate every step in the right direction. One of the ways is to show affection through warm words and physical touch. You will have no idea how a gentle cuddle, a little encouragement, appreciation, approval or even a smile can go a long way to boost the confidence and well–being of your children. For instance, when you must correct a child, do it in love. It can avoid criticism and blaming. It is important to avoid using negative vocabulary like "bad" because your child may internalize the label, thinking she is unacceptable instead of just the behaviour. When you love your child wisely, she will learn and love you back. When your child fail the test, analyse the reasons of failing the test with her, encourage her to try harder next time instead of scolding, blaming and hitting. Good parenting is much more than just teaching your children right and wrong, good or bad. It is also about 'respect'. I am not talking about your children Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Good Parenting In A Good Man Is Hard To Find A parent's ability to properly raise a child stands as the most pivotal test in their chapter of life as guardians. The quality of a guardians "parenting" skills create the foundation for the child to grow and prosper in their lifetime as good, moral human beings. As a society, we understand that we need to teach our children right from wrong, not talk to strangers, and to always share with others. These just begin to break the surface of the many lessons that good parents should instill into their children's young malleable brains. Now, just because this grand expectation of "good parenting" stand so highly in society, doesn't mean they always step up to the plate and perform like they should. Some parents in today's society do not actually...show more content... In today's society, some unfortunate families stay stuck in a vicious cycle of crime that they can't evade. The parents resort to a life of crime so inevitably the children follow in their parents footsteps and live the same lifestyle. In "A Good Man is Hard to Find" the concept of kids learning the wrong lessons from their parents remains quite apparent. June and John both hold tendencies to shriek out words of pure disrespect to any person they talk to. For example, John expresses that "Tennessee is just a hillbilly dumping ground," disrespecting not only the Grandmothers opinion on wanting to go to Tennessee, but Tennessee as a state as well. Also, June says "I wouldn't live in a broken down place like this for a million bucks!" in several variations throughout the story. The kids act and speak in this manner because they learn this from their parents and Grandmother who don't assume the roles of good parents. In addition to disrespectfulness, the children often times behave violently and fight with not only each other but other family members as well. On the drive to Florida, June and John began to savagely slap each other because supposedly John doesn't play fairly. Instead of handling it like two good, respectful children, they result in physical confrontation. Later on, John starts to kick the back of his father's chair when Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Essay on The Importance of Good Parenting Introduction Parenting style is one of the most attributed issues when dealing with care for children by their own parents. Parents should be always knowledgeable about the impact of proper parenting so that their child will grow productively. In this case, the level of parenting issues can help to improve the process of child's learning development. This paper is going to discuss at least three parenting style for children in order to explore more about these proper parenting styles, which could help to improve the child's physical as well as cognitive aspects. The nature of providing proper parenting can be provided by guardians or parents who will be responsible for attending all of their children's needs. This is to enhance a more...show more content... The reason behind for this particular style is to allow children to become more productive and responsible at all times. Being present with the children helps them to establish their trust with themselves as well as to other individuals or group. This style can be regarded as a responsible parenthood because parents may always want to witness their child's physical activities under their supervision. Whenever parents are now going to take care for their children, they want to experience proper parenting on a first hand basis. It means that they should personally see, feel, hear, and smell their children's presence, which is a positive parenting style that is more focused on children's development. Physical parenting style can be related to ensuring their children's health and wellness. This includes feeding their children with nutritious food so that they can grow up healthy. This is accompanied by providing children with essential food supplements containing vitamins and nutrients that would help to promote their physical integrity. Parents are always responsible for seeking medical attention when their children suddenly feels or suffers from an illness because children have always the right to seek for medical attention whenever their health is at risk. During first months and years, children are always mandated by the health care government to be vaccinated so that they will not suffer from Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Characteristics Of A Good Parent What makes a good parent? People have always tried to find out the answer to this question, because they think what makes a good parent makes a good family. As soon as children starts to feel that their parents care too much about them, they try to get back at them and do just what their parents don't want them to do. On the other hand, kids who face lack of freedom may end up turning into rebels and trouble makers. I believe that another thing that makes a good parent is trust. Being consistent with your child is so important because that's how trust is formed and kept. Being consistent is not changing the rules. Being consistent is not promising rewards that kids will never see. Being consistent is not threatening punishment without carrying it through. Children put trust in their parents from the very beginning and it must not be betrayed because once it is, once children find out they have been lied to, you will have to literally as a parent have to go above and beyond to win it back. Another thing is communication. Being able to communicate with your child will build confidence. Parents should not be afraid to talk to their children. They should not jump to conclusions when they are curious about something. A parent's relationship with his or her child will be reflected in the child's actions including child behavior problems, Natale explains. "If you don't have a good relationship with your child, they're not going to listen to you. Think how you relate to other Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. The Importance Of Good Parenting Children are heavily influenced by their parents, environment, and the rest of their family due to the memories they withhold, the plasticity of their brain, and human nature. Suffering due to maltreatment of the parent during childhood is detrimental for the rest of the child's life. The level of parenting and the commitment of parents leaves a mark on the child and will shape their actions in the future. Throughout childhood, a child needs to be nurtured and cared for in order to function as a proper adult. If a child is ignored or abused in the crucial point of development (1–3 years old), that will stick with them for the rest of their life. Good parenting implements good habits, a good attitude, and acceptance into their child and is vital to success of the child. Maltreatment of the child from the parents leads to an impaired ability to accept and feel love and nurturing (Shonkoff & Phillips, 2000). The first relationships that a child has leaves a mark on them and teaches them how to navigate through tough and high–stress situations, and helps them act more confident in time of turmoil (Shonkoff & Phillips, 2000). "Confirmed that what young children learn, how they react to the people and events around them, and what the expect from themselves and others are deeply affected by their relationship with their parents, the behavior of parents, and the environment of the home in which they live." (Shonkoff & Phillips, 2000). For example, it was shown in Romanian infants Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Definition Essay: What Makes A Good Parent? What makes a good parent? Technically, the dictionary definition states "good parenting happens when a person creates for a child a stable, nurturing home environment, is a positive role model, and plays a positive and active part in a child's life" (wps.k12.va.us). On the contrary, many people would simply say a great parent is someone who puts a roof over their children's head and a plate of food on the table, but in reality, it's so much more than that. A good parent is someone who has an open and trusting relationship with their children, loves and supports them unconditionally, and teaches them important lifelong morals that will shape them into a good person in the future. At a young age, children need to be taught by their parent(s) what's right and wrong. By teaching kids early on about proper manners and discipline, it will set them up for a more successful future, and avoid having to learn it later on, when it especially matters. Raising kind, thoughtful, and well...show more content... When parents support their child's ideas, they are able to pursue their goals and ideas. Whether it's learning how to ride a bike or winning valedictorian at graduation, it is so important to be supportive with everything they do. Having someone in a child's life who supports them not only gives them confidence, but it also makes them want to do praiseworthy acts again. They are being applauded for doing positive acts, and know that they are making someone else proud. Being a good parent involves lots of hard work and effort, but it has lifelong effects. In order to be a good parent, you need to teach your children morals, have a healthy relationship, and love and support them throughout their whole life. Obtaining these characteristics and aspects have an enormous impact on kids. By being a parent with these qualities, it allows children to grow up into amazing and respectful Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. What Is Good Parenting? What is good parenting? Do we have any common when we just came to this word? Yes, we do. When we were born we were babies, all of us had two arms, two legs and one head, but do we have any common beside our body? Yes, we do. Even we have so many differences, we born in different hospital in different country, have different family with different financial situation, but we still have one common, we all have parents. Parents create and bring us to this word, but this is not mean they fulfill the task, parents have to raise their children. So, the questions is, they are good parents or not and what is the criteria of good parenting. There are so many good parenting's criteria. Steven Levy, a famous American journalist that born in 1951, in his essay "Motivate yourchild" he talk about his understanding about criteria of good parenting, "Good parents condition their children to reach their best potential. They reward the children for their performances and are continuously encouraging and motivating the children." (Levy 2) This means good parents should guide their children to a right way and encourage them don't give up. Another criteria of good parenting from Jeanette Winterson, a famed writer who was born in Manchester, 1959. She mention her viewpoint in her essay "Different children, different needs", she said "Good parents help their children to experience plenty of responsibilities. The children are given jobs to while their progress is being monitored until they Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. The Three R 's Of Good Parenting Madison Isabel Martinek WRC 1023– Professor Wilson March 3, 2016 The Three R's of Good Parenting: Relationship, Respect, and Responsibility. Parenting: from dressing, teaching, disciplining, to simply supporting a child, there are technically no right or wrong ways to provide care. Although there may not be a correct way, most, if not all, parents have been or will be criticized at some point because of their decisions in parenting. So what exactly makes someone good at parenting? Amother, father, or caregiver who exercises good parenting fosters a healthy relationship with the child, demonstrates and reciprocates respect, and reinforces responsibility. Parenting involves a lot more than just fathering or mothering a child. Often times, genetics don't play a role in parenting at all anymore. Someone who parents is merely a person who takes on the responsibility of raising a child from a young age to adulthood. This can be through birth, adoption or foster care. Due to the large scale shift in society and offspring over time, I will be using the term "caregiver" to signify any person who consistently cares for a child throughout the rest of this paper. Regardless of the title used, each person ultimately performs the same duties involved with parenting and it is no task easily achieved. One of the most important things that a caregiver provides a child is a healthy relationship. The relationship held between a child and their caregiver is extremely important for emotional Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Parenting Practices Essay Janet Michelle Lewis Parenting Practices April 12, 2014 PARENTING PRACTICES Parenting a child is a very important role. Parents teach a child how to behave and they provide the needs for the child. Parenting practices varies from generation to generation. In the chart below I have described parenting practices over generations in my family. | Generation 1: Years (1960–1970)| Generation 2: Years(1980–2000)| Generation 3: Years(2000–2014)| Parenting Practice 1: Education| Medium standards| Medium standards | High standards| Parenting Practice 2:Religious Involvement| High standards| High standards | High standards| Parenting Practice 3:Breastfeeding| High standards| Medium standards| Low standards|...show more content... Parenting emphasized how healthy and important it was to breast feed. Throughout generations family members began to rely more on formula, than breast feeding. Early on in our generation, parenting did not focus on extra curriculum activities as much. All of the kids in the neighborhood loved to go outside and play street ball, skate and just hang out. However, for Christmas parents would but balls, games, skates, jump ropes and etc. Later in our generation parents in our family suggested that we participated in sports in school, but they did not push us to participate. Cohort effects and its influence on the parenting practices of each generation: The effects of being born at about the same time, exposed to the same in society, and influenced by the same demographic trends and thus, having similar experiences that make the group unique from other group. Cohort effects are most likely to be a problem during cross–sectional study as it is difficult to separate effects of developmental changes from cohort effects when examining age effects across a wide range of ages (Cozby, 2009). Educated Black Americans were role models in all generations such as Martin Luther King Jr., Myia Angelo, Booker T. Washington, and many others. These individuals had better life styles and better living standards as well. These are the factors that contributed to parents over generations, to push their children to get the highest education possibly. Parents would

  • 11. Persuasive Essay On Good Parenting Imagine a world in which you could do anything that your heart desires. Play outside until the moon shines down? Shop for endless hours with your parents' credit card and they wouldn't even bat an eye? Play XBox until you couldn't keep your eyes open? Would you agree that that would be an example of great parenting? Many may argue that good parenting is letting their children have zero limits and no rules. But, in the memoir The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls, the text explains that it is not the best parenting practice to give kids total freedom. The best practice in parenting is to actually support the children with their basic needs such as clothing, food and liquids, shelter, and limits. These are some of the practices that help make a parent good and successful. First of all, many would insist that phenomenal parenting is letting their children have zero limits and that the children would have no regulations. In the book, Rose Mary, Jeanette's Mother, who, through the book is shown to know what is wrong and right, makes a terrible mistake. Jeanette Explains, "I was wearing the dress to cook hot dogs, watching them swell and bob in the boiling water as the late morning sunlight filtered in through the trailer's small kitchenette window." (Walls 9). When Jeannette says "I was wearing the dress to cook hot dogs." she is currently three years old at the time and wearing a long dress that is close to the flame and cooking hot dogs on her own. • 12. Parenting Philosophy Essay One's own upbringing defines their parenting philosophy. Good parents have known the importance of prompt decision making for their kids. The same they would like their kids to follow. There is never a later time to teach this to kids. Make your kids good decision makers from an early age. Impart your kids with intellect and foresightedness. We must know that kids brains grow and function at a faster than ours. The brain grows at an amazing rate during development. At times during brain development, 250,000 neurons are added every minute! By the age of 2 years old, the brain is about 80% of the adult size. The technique to be used is by asking your kid lots and lots of questions , which encourages them to find their best interest answers .Start with a very simple way by giving them the options to choose what they would want to eat for tiffin tomorrow or question their willingness to go out for an outing or a social event. Let them take the decision of what they want to eat , how they want to look and where they want to go for the evening. This decisive power makes them value their time and resources. They gather self–control and become risk takers. They would know what is good for them and what fits in their best interest. • 13. What Makes a Good Parent To my mind, the right answer to the question "What makes a good parent" is not easily obtainable. You should spend a lot of time in contemplation before reaching to it. And still there is no guarantee that finally you will get it. Since many people have different opinions on raising a child there may be thousands absolutely different answers to one and the same question, a rather tricky one, I would say. To tell you the truth, after I asked myself the same question, several things went through my mind. What kind ofparent will I be? How will I raise a child? Can I be a good parent? What turns ordinary people into good parents? Panic overtook me and I felt an overwhelming desire to rush to the local bookstore to purchase loads of parenting...show more content... However, this is where common sense takes over. There will be things about the way we were raised that we liked and disliked. The areas that we did not like about the way we were raised can be turned around when we raise our own children. This is how, I think, we can develop into a good parent. Right now I would like to give some tips on how to become a good, loving parent. To tell you the truth, I am a little bit afraid to sound superficial, as I am not a parent yet. But, from another side, I had enough experience of being a child. So, now when I am in my early twenties I can evaluate the way I was brought up by my parents. It is true, the older we are – the more we can understand our parents. Well, let's pass on to the tips: Recognize your child for the individual that they are. No two children are alike, and even though they may resemble you, they are not you. You may have a child that loves sports and one that can't stand to be outdoors. We should consider the individuality of each child as a blessing and pursue ways to expand on that. Discipline your child. That is not to say that you have to spank your child or beat them unmercifully. Choose the method that works best for your child. You are the adult in your relationship and should be the master manipulator. Be involved in the schooling. Ask questions regarding how your child Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. The Importance Of A Good Parenting What constitutes a good parent is a highly subjective and controversial issue. With a number of new parents that are rising into today's life, it would seem that mothers and fathers are looking for the parenting skills that will lead their children into becoming great people. Love and affection, stress management, relationship skills, autonomy and independence, education and learning, life skills, behavior management, health, religion, and safety are the ten materials, one can do to have a good parenting outcome according to Robert Epstein in his article "What Makes a Good Parent?". This question becomes present while reading Jeannette Walls's memoir The Glass Castle. In consonance to good parenting, two material's autonomy and independence, along with education and learning are present, and Jeannette's parents show these qualities instituting that they are good parents. Autonomy and independence are good parenting traits because it allows the children to become more self–sufficient and less dependent on others while developing the competence to understand the world that they live in. Jeannette's parents demonstrate this attribute consistently throughout the book. When her mother leaves town she puts Jeannette in charge of her family for a whole summer. During this time, Jeannette is forced to act maturely and tend to her family."That left me, at thirteen, the head of the household. Before Mom left, she gave me 200 dollars. • 15. Essay on An Effective Parenting Style Parents have a major role in their children lives because of how they decided to raise their children. Parents tell their children what is right and what is wrong. According to the Wikipedia, "Parenting style is a psychological construct representing standard strategies that parents use in their child rearing." As parents use the technique to raise their children, they also shaped their value and personality. "Parenting style considers the balance between two aspects of parenting, namely, control, and warmth" (Ginsburg, Durbin, Garcias–Espana, Kalicka, and Winston, p. 1041). The same study from American Academy Pediatrics tells adolescents with controlling parent, authoritative and authoritarian, are most likely to wear seat belts (Ginsburg, Durbin, Garcias–Espana, Kalicka, and Winston, p. 1043). As authoritative and authoritarian parents believe that seatbelts are equal to safety (Ginsburg, Durbin, Garcias–Espana, Kalicka, and Winston, p. 1043); therefore, they socialized and hammered the habit of wearing seatbelt into their children's brain. In contrast, as the result of parents being so uninvolved with their children lives, they were the most likely to risk their life on the road as they are less likely to wear seatbelts when they are in the vehicle whether as a passenger or as a driver. • 16. Parenting Essay Being a parent comes with a lot of responsibility and difficult decision making. You always have your child's best interest at heart, but sometimes your child may disagree with the rules you have set down. That is why, I believe, the perfect parenting style is democratic. You can compromise with your child, but still have basic rules you want them to follow, without them feeling targeted or that you are being unfair. When i become a parent, I want to make sure my children have guidelines. I want them to be able to make their own mistakes and learn from them. Their health, their type of entertainment and the toys they play with are three major, broad categories that I would like to have a say in, along with their input of course....show more content... That always worked on me, so hopefully they will pick up that trait. Another example of the democratic parenting style is when your teenager wants to get a piercing or a tattoo. This subject is surprisingly easy for me to make rules upon. I would never tell my child not to get a piercing, but I also would not give them consent. I know what it is like to have a mom who says no most of the time to everything. With my children, I do not want to have to say no because that will make them want to do it even more. As long as I found the piercing or tattoo to be age appropriate and small, I would not mind making an adjustment to their wishes as long as they made adjustments to mine. Secondly, what my children enjoy doing in their spare time is not only a personal chioce, but an important aspect in anyones life. I would never tell my daughter she could not play hockey, or my son that he could not dance. Even though I would not be a huge fan of my son dancing, it is his own decision and not mine to make. Although I would control how much they play and where and when they play and everything that goes along with sports or clubs. Television shows and movies are another thing that I have difficulty deciding where the line is for a certain age. Do I let my eight year old child watch 'Nightmare on Elm Street'? No, I definitely do not. But I can give them the choice of watching Pokemon or Harry Potter. It is especially difficult once Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Having a good qualitative standard in parenting demands special skill and ability to nurture people from childhood to adulthood where they can be a replica of your true identity as a parent and makes you a role model. Good viable parents do not fall from heaven, neither were they taken to a special school of study in parenting, but they are the individuals that took their time to build their homes and the lives of their children. They are the people that understand the principles of parenting and work towards it earnestly and accordingly, against all odds. Parenting is not just an act of giving birth and raising children, but an art of ensuring that those kids become responsible in the society and fulfil their purpose in life. In our society today, we have fathers and mothers whose major responsibilities is to give birth and ask God or Government to care for their children. Children learn how to become adults from the parents. Successful parenting requires the parents to have some very important qualities and characteristics. There are so many characteristics and qualities of parenting, but only three of them stand out: a high sense morality, support and good leadership. In fact, children crave for parents care and support. Spending time with children and listening attentively to their concerns is very important. • 19. Reflection Paper On Parenting Parenting is a process of supporting children through the rigors of life. From infancy to adulthood, parents play an important role in the development of their children. They are expected to ensure the child's health and safety, prepare them to function as citizens of society, and to teach them about what is important in life. Many parents learn how to parent by recalling the way they were raised. However, with the stresses and strains that families face today, it is also a good idea to be open to adding parenting tools to their toolbox, which can give them more confidence in their roles. Tools can help strengthen the relationship between parents and children, as well as help children grow and develop more successfully. These tools are...show more content... In the first session, I stated that parents needed to use the tool of their presence in their child's life. They needed to be more connected, despite all the struggles and chaos of living. I mentioned a quote: "Our children want more than presents, they want our presence ( )." Children want their parents in their lives. In addition, both child and parent needed to get sufficient sleep, which enabled them to function better. • 20. Good Parenting Essay Good Parenting What makes a good parent? People have always tired to find out the answer, because what makes a good parent makes a good family and what makes a good family makes a good society and finally what makes a good society makes the world we live in a good one. Actually it is family where all the social ills come from. It is family that predetermines what kind of society we will have tomorrow, because the society of tomorrow will be born to and moulded in the family of today. So if we want to find out what makes a good parent and try to change the society we'll be living in we've got to start right now. So let's start. What makes a good parent? But as soon as children start feeling that their parents care too much, they try to get back at them and do just what their parents don't want them to do. On the other hand kids who face lack of freedom may end up turning into introverts afraid to speak to other people or not as social (which is not a bad thing though). I believe that next thing any parent must not forget about is trust. Being consistent with your child is of paramount importance because that's how trust is supported. Being consistent is not changing the rules half way through the game. Being consistent is not promising rewards that kids will never see. Being consistent is not threatening punishment without carrying it through. From the very first day on Earth children put trust in their parents and it must not be betrayed because once it is, once children find out they have been lied to, you will have to literally put yourself out to win it back. Communication. Being able to communicate well builds confidence and charisma. Parents should not be afraid to talk to their children. They should not jump down through their throat when they are curious about something either no matter how stupid it may seem. Parents should be able to look at everyday things and events through the eyes of their children who are new in this world and have little knowledge of it.
