Advantages Of Volleyball Essay
Have you ever heard of the sport volleyball? Well if you haven't then let me tell you about it. It's where you have a team and you play a sport called
volleyball, and you play with a ball that's called a volleyball and you can bump, set, and spike. You also play get to play against all these different
schools. You can alsoplay in tournaments to play a bunch a team in one day. If you you have a good winning streak you and your team could possibly
go to state. State where you go to a high school like building and you play against teams all day for two days and in the end you all get participation

You coach my also make you do drills like hitting line where you go up to the net and you tip and then hit. You also have to run on and off the court
to get the ball or switch on and off with another player. Exercise is also good for volleyball because is you don't you will be very out of shape and that's
not good because you have to have upper body strength and leg strength to jump.
Now the disadvantages, the first one is injuries. Injuries can happen really easily in volleyball because you are jumping a lot and you slide all over
the court and sometimes that can end up in a bad injury. Sometimes when you're sliding you can hurt your knees like popping them out of place or
getting a burn. You can also hurt people on the other team by hitting the ball to hard or just hitting it in the wrong way. You may accidentally run
into someone and injure both yourself and your teammate now you might not mean it but it might end up in you both sit out. You also slip and fall
and injure your elbow or chest. Next disadvantage is it can be expensive. Volleyball clubs and sometimes school volleyball can extremely expensive
and sometime people can't afford it and the really sad because they can't play just because of price. Sometimes people have the money in the beginning
and then they might have something happen and then they can't play anymore. It can be hard to pay for both your education and play volleyball so
you're most likely going to choose education but

Volleyball-Personal Narrative
I know that even though my label comes with negative thoughts I know that I will never be ashamed for loving to play volleyball. Hearing people
say things to make darkness override just makes me want to work harder and prove them wrong. Enjoying something that makes you feel like you

My Favorite Sport Of Volleyball
We've all had to answer this question before, what's your favorite thing? We can answer that pretty easily because it's something that's special to us.
Whether it's playing or watching your favorite sport or having a favorite stuffed animal, it's something that we will always cherish. There are multiple
reasons why that favorite thing is important, and we will never forget them.
The rush of adrenaline you get right when your feet hit that court is like nothing else. That's why my favorite thing is the sport of volleyball. I have
played this sport from a young age so it has been all I have ever known. The sport is unique because it incorporates skills that you must practice over
and over to become perfect at. The team atmosphere is something I love about the sport. The feeling that the other five teammates on your side of the
net have your back. This sport is impossible to succeed at if only one player isn't committed to the whole team goal. That's why team–bonding comes
into play on and off the court. I remember having team dinners the night before every game. I would sit by my teammates talking about the game we
had tomorrow, while eating loads and loads of that ooey gooey mac and cheese. My team would also do secret–sister before games. I would pick
another player on my team to get me some quick snacks. I would then write her a note giving her encouragement for the game the next day. When I
read the note from my teammate it was the best feeling in the whole world knowing that my friend had confidence in me to play my best game.
Not only were the girls on my team an inspiration to me but also the coaches that sat on the sideline during every match, and every practice. My
coaches through my 9 years of volleyball have taught me an enormous amount of lessons. My coaches became mentors for the sport I love but also
for life. I was taught many lessons from my coaches over the years that could be used for later on. For example, when I was playing on my club
volleyball team at 12, I remember struggling to serve the ball over the net. My coach told me that I wasn't going to be perfect at that skill the first time
I tried it. It would take multiple practices in the gym to meet my goal. That was a lesson I

Reflection About Volleyball Experience
Volleyball season this year has been a whirlwind of emotions. Volleyball is an outstanding sport where the best of the best athletes come together and
play a great game including a ball and net. The three biggest things of the season were the tryouts, practices, and the very last game of my middle
school career. In this essay I'm going to talk to you about my 2017–18 volleyball season experience. This essay is in memoir form, so it will go back
and reflect on the season. As I was getting ready for my second year of volleyball tryouts my heart was pumping so fast in my chest. I honestly
thought I was having a heart attack. Tomorrow was going to be the first day of tryouts, and I was so excited yet hesitant. Annika my best friend,
and I were practicing with our Volleyballs outside of her house. We were doing most of the drills we remembered from the season before. After a
couple of hours we decided we should stop before we pulled a muscle or injured our bodies, and rest up for tomorrow. My mother had cooked me a
grilled cheese sandwich with tomato soup, my absolute favorite meal ever. She made it, so I can get me ecstatic for tryouts and to settle my
butterflies. Once I finished my delicious meal and proceed to get ready for bed, Annika and I called each other and talked for a while about what we
were going to do tomorrow. We hoped we would get on the team again. I dozed off shortly after we hung up. As I rose the next morning my father had

Volleyball Is My Favorite Sports
The chorus of whistles, cheers and volleyball's pounding against the ground filled my ears as I watched my opponent dribble her routine against
the floor. One, two, three hits against the floor, a spin in her hand, a deep breath in. She tosses the ball up in the air, and my body automatically
moves in the direction her body is facing. I watch the ball hit her hand with solid contact, and how it moves to our side of the net; no spin. The ball
sails toward the back end of the court, my feet move into the familiar drop step position. However, my feet don't move fast enough, I'm forced to take
the ball outside my body. It skids across my arms, and moves further to the back line. Despite the obvious effort my teammates put in to reach the ball

Once again, it had paid off; I had been named libero, the first starting freshman libero since Kendall. While it felt like a weight was lifted off my
shoulders, another one was loaded on. I had to fill Kendall Braate's shoes, despite the enormous footprints she had left. I had been doing my best to
step in her wake when I snapped; one of my worst practices ever. Every pass was a shank, either skidding off my arms, or dropping straight to the
ground. With every pass, I felt myself going into a deeper and deeper trance of utter desolation. After one more pass, I ran to my coach, politely
asking if I could step in the locker room while I vainly blinked the tears out of my eyes. She nodded, and I ran to the locker room as fast as my feet
could carry me. One step in, two, and then a tidal wave of tears crashed over me. All the stress, pressure and distress I had been feeling poured out
of me in a loud, snotty mess. I cried, I cried, and I cried until I felt like all of the liquid had been drained out of my body. And then I had thought
about practice again, and the rainstorm washed over again. Only did I stop when I heard the creaking sound of an opening door interrupt my deep
breaths and sniffles. Kendall Braate walked in, an already sympathetic look across her face. She walked over to the bench underneath the lockers, and
used her hand to beckon me over. I took a few unbalanced steps over,

My Love For Volleyball : The Life Of Volleyball
I began to play volleyball when I was eleven years old and have been playing since. At first, I joined volleyball for the social aspect only and did not
really expect myself to enjoy the sport as much as I have. My love for volleyball grew gradually throughout the years as I began to put in more time
and effort into the sport. Volleyballhas since become my happy place where I can momentarily forget everything else that is going on and focus on the
sport. Volleyball is agame won in three out of five sets consisting of twenty–five points each except the fifth set is consisted of fifteen points since it is
the tie breaker. Each team gets three touches to send the ball over the net and no player can touch the ball twice in a row. Each touch is consisted of a
pass, set, and hit. Throughout this essay, I will teach you the main fitness components, positions played, and skills needed in volleyball.
Volleyball is a game based on endurance, speed, agility, and power. Due to the intensity of the game, endurance is important. Power is also
important because to earn your team a point you need to have the strength to serve, block, and hit the ball hard enough for it to reach the floor. At
every moment, you need to be quick on your feet for when the ball is coming towards you. As for agility, it is needed to fully grasp the skills
performed in volleyball.
In volleyball, your position is based on what skill you are good at. If you are a libero or defense specialist, you are considered to

The Discourse Community Of Volleyball
There are discourse communities all around us. A discourse community is a group of people who share a common goal. Within the group, there are
certain ways of communicating with one another, relaying information, and using common speech or terms that everyone in the group understands.
Being part of different discourse communities can help develop different writing styles and skills. A non–school discourse community that helped me
develop as a writer was volleyball. There are many aspects to volleyball that a player has to understand: the common goals, the rules, and the
terminology. Being a part of the volleyball discourse community, I was able to get a job at the University of North Georgia as a volleyball referee.

In volleyball, there are set rules that every player must follow. Teams have different methods to help their players understand the rules. Some teams
memorize them and have "tests", others learn from experiencing the rules while playing. The exigence behind learning the rules is so that the player
knows how to play the game as an individual and as a team. Knowing the rules of volleyball is essential for a well–functioning team. Along with the
rules, a player must understand the terminology used consistently throughout the experience.
Every sport has their own terminology and language that only players of that sport understand. In volleyball it is important to know the terms used.
The terminology that a volleyball player first learns are: pass, set, hit, kill, double, serve, and the positions on the court. Every player's exigence for
knowing and understanding the terms is for the player's and team's success. Without the knowledge of the terms used, a player will not comprehend
what is going on, what plays are being made, or what the referees are expressing.
My experience with volleyball gave me the opportunity to have a job at UNG, as an intramural volleyball referee. Being a referee is not an easy task.
Along with the terminology used by the players and coaches, there is a different set of terminology for referees. Every referee must learn a set of hand
signals and motions

Illustration/Compare–Contrast
Indoor and Beach Volleyball have gained immense popularity over the years. They're both very fun sports that anyone at any age can enjoy. Although
most people would think both sports are the same, the truth is they are very different. The environment, rules of play and the collegiate opportunities
that many players have are a few of the main components that separate these sports. Indoor volleyball was invented in Holyoke Massachusetts by
William G. Morgan on February 9, 1895. Originally, the sport was known as "Mintonette" until it was changed a year later to "volleyball" which it is
still known as today. The present name...show more content...
Middle Blockers are the best at being able to read the other teams' offense in order to put up a solid block, also hits quick sets to throw the other
teams' defense off balance. Outside Hitters are also known as the all around players because not only do they have to be the best and most
consistent hitter on the team but they must also have great passing and defensive skills. An opposite's main role is to block the other teams'
outside hitter and also serve as second setters. Finally, the libero/defensive specialists are the best passers/diggers on the court, it is prohibited that
they ever play in the front row. Beach volleyball is the complete opposite because it only consists of two players on the court and they do not have
any specific positions. It is much more difficult to play than Indoor due to the harsh playing conditions. Moving on sand can be extremely difficult
and sometimes the temperature (especially in Florida) can get to dangerous highs that could possibly lead to dehydration that's why it's so important
to drink as much water as possible. Another significant difference between indoor and beach is that indoor can be played year round while beach
can only be played during spring and summer time. Indoor is played best out of five "sets", all of them go to twenty five points (win by two) except
the last set which only goes to fifteen points. There always must be two

Volleyball Is A Sport Essay
Volleyball is a sport that has been significantly gaining interest over the years with many levels of volleyball being offered from the ages of nine
through adulthood. Many new players will begin in recreational leagues and learn the fundamentals. After a few years, dedicated players will begin to
make the switch to selective club volleyball leagues for the advancement it provides. While all levels of volleyball provide a strong basis for
competition, club volleyball leagues far surpass recreational volleyball leagues in terms of providing certified coaches, selecting players of the highest
caliber skill level, and the capability of recognition by college scouts. A main distinction between club volleyball leagues and recreational volleyball

Essay about Physics in Volleyball
Physics is used in almost everything we do throughout our everyday lives. Sports are almost entirely composed of the physics of the human body in
order accomplish the performed action. Volleyball is a sport which has physics at the heart of the game, understanding the physics of the game actually
allows a player to improve and become more efficient and effective in his or her game. This essay gives insight into how the rules of physics can be
used and are essential in the game of volleyball in all aspects of the game including serving, passing, setting, hitting, and blocking. Volleyball is a game

The passer receives the ball at a certain angle and velocity and in contacting the ball changes the angle, direction, and possibly velocity of the ball.
The passer's purpose is to keep the ball off the floor and put it in a direction for further useful play. To accomplish this contact of the ball and
repositioning of it a player must get between the ball and the floor, create a styrdy platform for the ball to hit, and stay low.
A passer should be placed between the floor and the ball to prevent the ball from reaching the floor. This movement can be accomplish by running
to the ball, shuffling to a good ready position, or in last resort diving for the ball, by extending the arms and body into the air to reach a ball. If the
arms have to move away from the from the front of the body the passer should drop their inside shoulder, so that the angle shown to the ball will direct
the ball back into the court for futher play.
To create a solid platform for the ball to hit the arms should be straightened infront of the passer, to limit the angle the ball will reflect, and the legs
should be stable and bent. The legs will act like a spring, they should absorb the impact of the ball and then use force to push the ball in the opposite
direction. Creating a flat and straight platform will allow the ball to rebound up and off the arms of the passer into the direction of the

Descriptive Essay About Volleyball
Volleyball, one of the world's greatest sports. From the hot and muggy gym, to sweat dripping down each players face, volleyball is not for the faint
of heart. This sport requires a single–minded desire: to win. It takes more than just teamwork to win. Volleyball has always been one of my favorite
sports. I would always meet a new friend anywhere I would go. Believe it or not these situations are how you could meet your life long best friends.
One day when I was in fifth grade, my volleyball team traveled to Trinity Clinton Township to oppose them in a volleyballgame. They had the brightest
gym in the universe! Playing volleyball there was like trying to play inside the sun. Everyone was more focused on the sun in their eyes than...show

The water had spilt everywhere on the gym floor. I was so embarrassed, but luckily the other team was kind enough to help me clean up all the water I
had spilt. I made a couple of jokes by comparing the big spill I made to "the flood on Noah's Ark," I somehow managed to make everyone around me
laugh. I made a lot of new friends that day all due to a simple act of kindness towards others.
As my heart grew for the love of volleyball, I took my talents to harder competition, Great Lakes at the end of my sixth–grade season. This is a very
well–known team and they are very superior at volleyball. That was one of the scariest tryouts I have ever attended because there were over three
hundred girls trying out for the volleyball team! The first thing everyone was tested on was "hitting". Every girl got in a line and tried their best to
hit the ball over the net. Well, I was still in sixth grade at the time along with many other girls and most of us were all still fairly short. I was the next
girl in line to hit, I had butterflies in my stomach like no other. I walked up to the ten–foot line and did my approach. Boom! The ball goes screaming
over the net! I never knew I had such great power in my arm. Next up in line was the girl behind me her name was Megan, she was also short.
Megan goes up to the line and swung at the ball but missed. The girls in the gym were laughing at her because the ball went under the net instead of
going over. Suddenly

The sport of volleyball was created by a man named William G. Morgan of Holyoke, Massachusetts in 1895. Morgan was a physical education
teacher at the YMCA and called it "mintonette". It was an indoor or outdoor pastime that had characteristics of both handball and
tennis. The first rules were written down by Morgan himself. He wrote that the game called for a 6 foot 6 inch net and a court of 25x50 feet. A
match composed of 9 innings and 3 serves for each team in each inning. In case of a serving error they got a second chance just like in tennis. If the

Many injuries that occur with volleyball run from Bruises to breaks. The most common are ankle or knee injuries since a lot of stop and go and
jumping. Often muscles are pulled in the shoulders and back. In volleyball injuries are all too common. Whether its landing wrong or player
collision injuries and volleyball players go together like rain and water. Often you may see a girl with bruises all over her knees and elbows but its
just from the game or practice she recently had. Volleyball may seem like a less exsausting sport compared to basketball but in Volleyball muscles are
constantly stopping and going and movements are very prisice and sharp. A player has to be almost lightning fast and and in deep

Reflection Paper On Volleyball
Volleyball has been a sport that has played a key role in my life. Looking back to my first game when it all started I can remember the butterflies in
my stomach; I was so nervous, so eager. I had anticipated it all day. All week and as a sixth grader it gave me something bigger to be apart of
going into middle school. The sport first caught my eye when I watched my older sister, Bailey, play. A net set up down the middle of the
gymnasium, the twelve players on the court (six on each side), the sound of the ball as it was volleying around. I was intrigued to learn more and, of
course as the little sister, I admired anything my older sister did and wanted to do it too.
So there I was facing the start of a season equipped with a blue jersey with number four on the front and back, new black knee pads fresh out of the
package, and black shorts matching the rest of the team. I was ready. As the team and I finish setting up the court for the game the other team arrives,
the butterflies in my stomach began growing bigger than before. Both sides began warming up with partners and suddenly a loud noise rings through
the gym, the referee was calling for captains to see who would have first serve or receive (defence or offence). My team won the coin toss, so we
were to start the game with the serve or offense. Five players and I rush onto the court, we were the starting six. One player goes to stand behind the
boundary line waiting for the referee to signal her to serve. The referee

Sophomore year came, and I was nervous because now there was jv dark and varsity to worry about. I came to tryouts, and gave all my effort on

the only horrible part of jv dark is that I never had the chance to play. I came to practice everyday and I followed instructions, I never complained if

In volleyball, there are different skills to acquire, like serving, passing, spiking, setting, and digging. However, beginners will usually start by knowing
the basic posture and the correct hand grip first. They will have to grip their hands together tightly, straighten their arms and bend their knees slightly
before hitting up the incoming ball. After learning how to hit the ball up with the correct postures, serving of the ball over the net to the opposite court
will be taught. Serving volleyball with upper–hand is commonly used. However, it will be easier for the beginners to start by using the underhand
volleyball serves. The underhand volleyball serves have a higher chance of serving over the net, yet the upper–hand volleyball serves allows the player
to have more control over the ball and are more powerful. Serving the ball will start the game, and having a good serve will give the team more
advantage to score more points which might turn the tables if the team is losing. However, one should always take note not to step on the court's
line when serving the ball. Also, a game will not be complete without an attacking force. Spiking can be an effective attack that helps the team to
win a point if the opponent players are not able to save the ball. Spiking is a skill that requires a lot of effort in correcting the coordination of the
body to jump up and spike down the ball at the opponent's court. All in all, to learn the basic skills requires the individual to put in a lot of effort and
patience, because it is important to set the foundation skills

decided that for the next year they weren't going to be better than I am. I worked so hard the summer going to my 10th grade year. I didn't have a
summer because I was always in the gym or working out. No one could tell me that I wasn't going to be better. I can still remember it like it was
yesterday, sitting in volleyball practice the first couple of days. It was the last day of the week and coach was handing out uniforms. She started off
with the varsity team; she started calling names of the girls who was going to be on the varsity team. On that list guess who's name was on there,
mine, and guess whose wasn't, those girls that was always better than I was. I was a three–year varsity letterman through out high school. My
volleyball career thought me a lot. On thing I can always remember was a certain bible verse, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens
me." That verse stuck with me all through out my volleyball career and is still with me as I play in college. My me never giving up I

Advantages Of Volleyball Essay

  • 1. Advantages Of Volleyball Essay Have you ever heard of the sport volleyball? Well if you haven't then let me tell you about it. It's where you have a team and you play a sport called volleyball, and you play with a ball that's called a volleyball and you can bump, set, and spike. You also play get to play against all these different schools. You can alsoplay in tournaments to play a bunch a team in one day. If you you have a good winning streak you and your team could possibly go to state. State where you go to a high school like building and you play against teams all day for two days and in the end you all get participation trophies and about a week later you might get a bigger award for cheering for your team the most. So first let's talk about the advantages...show more content... You coach my also make you do drills like hitting line where you go up to the net and you tip and then hit. You also have to run on and off the court to get the ball or switch on and off with another player. Exercise is also good for volleyball because is you don't you will be very out of shape and that's not good because you have to have upper body strength and leg strength to jump. Now the disadvantages, the first one is injuries. Injuries can happen really easily in volleyball because you are jumping a lot and you slide all over the court and sometimes that can end up in a bad injury. Sometimes when you're sliding you can hurt your knees like popping them out of place or getting a burn. You can also hurt people on the other team by hitting the ball to hard or just hitting it in the wrong way. You may accidentally run into someone and injure both yourself and your teammate now you might not mean it but it might end up in you both sit out. You also slip and fall and injure your elbow or chest. Next disadvantage is it can be expensive. Volleyball clubs and sometimes school volleyball can extremely expensive and sometime people can't afford it and the really sad because they can't play just because of price. Sometimes people have the money in the beginning and then they might have something happen and then they can't play anymore. It can be hard to pay for both your education and play volleyball so you're most likely going to choose education but Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Volleyball-Personal Narrative I know that even though my label comes with negative thoughts I know that I will never be ashamed for loving to play volleyball. Hearing people say things to make darkness override just makes me want to work harder and prove them wrong. Enjoying something that makes you feel like you belong should never make you switch your light because you will always make up to a new bright Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. My Favorite Sport Of Volleyball We've all had to answer this question before, what's your favorite thing? We can answer that pretty easily because it's something that's special to us. Whether it's playing or watching your favorite sport or having a favorite stuffed animal, it's something that we will always cherish. There are multiple reasons why that favorite thing is important, and we will never forget them. The rush of adrenaline you get right when your feet hit that court is like nothing else. That's why my favorite thing is the sport of volleyball. I have played this sport from a young age so it has been all I have ever known. The sport is unique because it incorporates skills that you must practice over and over to become perfect at. The team atmosphere is something I love about the sport. The feeling that the other five teammates on your side of the net have your back. This sport is impossible to succeed at if only one player isn't committed to the whole team goal. That's why team–bonding comes into play on and off the court. I remember having team dinners the night before every game. I would sit by my teammates talking about the game we had tomorrow, while eating loads and loads of that ooey gooey mac and cheese. My team would also do secret–sister before games. I would pick another player on my team to get me some quick snacks. I would then write her a note giving her encouragement for the game the next day. When I read the note from my teammate it was the best feeling in the whole world knowing that my friend had confidence in me to play my best game. Not only were the girls on my team an inspiration to me but also the coaches that sat on the sideline during every match, and every practice. My coaches through my 9 years of volleyball have taught me an enormous amount of lessons. My coaches became mentors for the sport I love but also for life. I was taught many lessons from my coaches over the years that could be used for later on. For example, when I was playing on my club volleyball team at 12, I remember struggling to serve the ball over the net. My coach told me that I wasn't going to be perfect at that skill the first time I tried it. It would take multiple practices in the gym to meet my goal. That was a lesson I Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Reflection About Volleyball Experience Volleyball season this year has been a whirlwind of emotions. Volleyball is an outstanding sport where the best of the best athletes come together and play a great game including a ball and net. The three biggest things of the season were the tryouts, practices, and the very last game of my middle school career. In this essay I'm going to talk to you about my 2017–18 volleyball season experience. This essay is in memoir form, so it will go back and reflect on the season. As I was getting ready for my second year of volleyball tryouts my heart was pumping so fast in my chest. I honestly thought I was having a heart attack. Tomorrow was going to be the first day of tryouts, and I was so excited yet hesitant. Annika my best friend, and I were practicing with our Volleyballs outside of her house. We were doing most of the drills we remembered from the season before. After a couple of hours we decided we should stop before we pulled a muscle or injured our bodies, and rest up for tomorrow. My mother had cooked me a grilled cheese sandwich with tomato soup, my absolute favorite meal ever. She made it, so I can get me ecstatic for tryouts and to settle my butterflies. Once I finished my delicious meal and proceed to get ready for bed, Annika and I called each other and talked for a while about what we were going to do tomorrow. We hoped we would get on the team again. I dozed off shortly after we hung up. As I rose the next morning my father had made me a slice of toast with Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Volleyball Is My Favorite Sports The chorus of whistles, cheers and volleyball's pounding against the ground filled my ears as I watched my opponent dribble her routine against the floor. One, two, three hits against the floor, a spin in her hand, a deep breath in. She tosses the ball up in the air, and my body automatically moves in the direction her body is facing. I watch the ball hit her hand with solid contact, and how it moves to our side of the net; no spin. The ball sails toward the back end of the court, my feet move into the familiar drop step position. However, my feet don't move fast enough, I'm forced to take the ball outside my body. It skids across my arms, and moves further to the back line. Despite the obvious effort my teammates put in to reach the ball ...show more content... Once again, it had paid off; I had been named libero, the first starting freshman libero since Kendall. While it felt like a weight was lifted off my shoulders, another one was loaded on. I had to fill Kendall Braate's shoes, despite the enormous footprints she had left. I had been doing my best to step in her wake when I snapped; one of my worst practices ever. Every pass was a shank, either skidding off my arms, or dropping straight to the ground. With every pass, I felt myself going into a deeper and deeper trance of utter desolation. After one more pass, I ran to my coach, politely asking if I could step in the locker room while I vainly blinked the tears out of my eyes. She nodded, and I ran to the locker room as fast as my feet could carry me. One step in, two, and then a tidal wave of tears crashed over me. All the stress, pressure and distress I had been feeling poured out of me in a loud, snotty mess. I cried, I cried, and I cried until I felt like all of the liquid had been drained out of my body. And then I had thought about practice again, and the rainstorm washed over again. Only did I stop when I heard the creaking sound of an opening door interrupt my deep breaths and sniffles. Kendall Braate walked in, an already sympathetic look across her face. She walked over to the bench underneath the lockers, and used her hand to beckon me over. I took a few unbalanced steps over, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. My Love For Volleyball : The Life Of Volleyball I began to play volleyball when I was eleven years old and have been playing since. At first, I joined volleyball for the social aspect only and did not really expect myself to enjoy the sport as much as I have. My love for volleyball grew gradually throughout the years as I began to put in more time and effort into the sport. Volleyballhas since become my happy place where I can momentarily forget everything else that is going on and focus on the sport. Volleyball is agame won in three out of five sets consisting of twenty–five points each except the fifth set is consisted of fifteen points since it is the tie breaker. Each team gets three touches to send the ball over the net and no player can touch the ball twice in a row. Each touch is consisted of a pass, set, and hit. Throughout this essay, I will teach you the main fitness components, positions played, and skills needed in volleyball. Volleyball is a game based on endurance, speed, agility, and power. Due to the intensity of the game, endurance is important. Power is also important because to earn your team a point you need to have the strength to serve, block, and hit the ball hard enough for it to reach the floor. At every moment, you need to be quick on your feet for when the ball is coming towards you. As for agility, it is needed to fully grasp the skills performed in volleyball. In volleyball, your position is based on what skill you are good at. If you are a libero or defense specialist, you are considered to Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. The Discourse Community Of Volleyball There are discourse communities all around us. A discourse community is a group of people who share a common goal. Within the group, there are certain ways of communicating with one another, relaying information, and using common speech or terms that everyone in the group understands. Being part of different discourse communities can help develop different writing styles and skills. A non–school discourse community that helped me develop as a writer was volleyball. There are many aspects to volleyball that a player has to understand: the common goals, the rules, and the terminology. Being a part of the volleyball discourse community, I was able to get a job at the University of North Georgia as a volleyball referee. This discourse...show more content... In volleyball, there are set rules that every player must follow. Teams have different methods to help their players understand the rules. Some teams memorize them and have "tests", others learn from experiencing the rules while playing. The exigence behind learning the rules is so that the player knows how to play the game as an individual and as a team. Knowing the rules of volleyball is essential for a well–functioning team. Along with the rules, a player must understand the terminology used consistently throughout the experience. Every sport has their own terminology and language that only players of that sport understand. In volleyball it is important to know the terms used. The terminology that a volleyball player first learns are: pass, set, hit, kill, double, serve, and the positions on the court. Every player's exigence for knowing and understanding the terms is for the player's and team's success. Without the knowledge of the terms used, a player will not comprehend what is going on, what plays are being made, or what the referees are expressing. My experience with volleyball gave me the opportunity to have a job at UNG, as an intramural volleyball referee. Being a referee is not an easy task. Along with the terminology used by the players and coaches, there is a different set of terminology for referees. Every referee must learn a set of hand signals and motions Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Volleyball Essay Ashley Lechleidner–Rodriguez English Composition 1101 September 30, 2011 Illustration/Compare–Contrast Indoor and Beach Volleyball have gained immense popularity over the years. They're both very fun sports that anyone at any age can enjoy. Although most people would think both sports are the same, the truth is they are very different. The environment, rules of play and the collegiate opportunities that many players have are a few of the main components that separate these sports. Indoor volleyball was invented in Holyoke Massachusetts by William G. Morgan on February 9, 1895. Originally, the sport was known as "Mintonette" until it was changed a year later to "volleyball" which it is still known as today. The present name...show more content... Middle Blockers are the best at being able to read the other teams' offense in order to put up a solid block, also hits quick sets to throw the other teams' defense off balance. Outside Hitters are also known as the all around players because not only do they have to be the best and most consistent hitter on the team but they must also have great passing and defensive skills. An opposite's main role is to block the other teams' outside hitter and also serve as second setters. Finally, the libero/defensive specialists are the best passers/diggers on the court, it is prohibited that they ever play in the front row. Beach volleyball is the complete opposite because it only consists of two players on the court and they do not have any specific positions. It is much more difficult to play than Indoor due to the harsh playing conditions. Moving on sand can be extremely difficult and sometimes the temperature (especially in Florida) can get to dangerous highs that could possibly lead to dehydration that's why it's so important to drink as much water as possible. Another significant difference between indoor and beach is that indoor can be played year round while beach can only be played during spring and summer time. Indoor is played best out of five "sets", all of them go to twenty five points (win by two) except the last set which only goes to fifteen points. Sports are almost entirely composed of the physics of the human body in order accomplish the performed action. Volleyball is a sport which has physics at the heart of the game, understanding the physics of the game actually allows a player to improve and become more efficient and effective in his or her game. This essay gives insight into how the rules of physics can be used and are essential in the game of volleyball in all aspects of the game including serving, passing, setting, hitting, and blocking. The passer receives the ball at a certain angle and velocity and in contacting the ball changes the angle, direction, and possibly velocity of the ball. The passer's purpose is to keep the ball off the floor and put it in a direction for further useful play. To accomplish this contact of the ball and repositioning of it a player must get between the ball and the floor, create a styrdy platform for the ball to hit, and stay low. A passer should be placed between the floor and the ball to prevent the ball from reaching the floor. This movement can be accomplish by running to the ball, shuffling to a good ready position, or in last resort diving for the ball, by extending the arms and body into the air to reach a ball. If the arms have to move away from the from the front of the body the passer should drop their inside shoulder, so that the angle shown to the ball will direct the ball back into the court for futher play. To create a solid platform for the ball to hit the arms should be straightened infront of the passer, to limit the angle the ball will reflect, and the legs should be stable and bent. The legs will act like a spring, they should absorb the impact of the ball and then use force to push the ball in the opposite direction. Creating a flat and straight platform will allow the ball to rebound up and off the arms of the passer into the direction of the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Persuasive Essay Volleyball To play volleyball or not to play volleyball Have you ever heard of the sport volleyball? Well if you haven't then let me tell you about it. It's where you have a team and your play a sport called volleyball, and you play with a ball that's called a volleyball and you can bump, set, and spike. You also get toplay against all these different schools. You can also play in tournaments to play a bunch a team in one day. If you have a good winning streak you and your team could possibly go to state. State where you go to a high school like building and you play against teams all day for two days and in the end you all get participation trophies and about a week later you might get a bigger award for cheering for your team the most. So...show more content... You catch my also make you do drills like hitting line where you go up to the net and you tip and then hit. You also have to run on and off the court to get the ball or switch on and off with another player. Exercise is also good for volleyball because is you don't you will be very out of shape and that's not good because you have to have upper body strength and leg strength to jump. Now the disadvantages, the first one is injurious. Injuries can happen really easily in volleyball because you are jumping a lot and you slide all over the court and sometimes that can end up with a bad injury. Sometimes when you're sliding you can hurt your knees like popping them out of place or getting a burn. You can also hurt people on the other team by hitting the ball too hard or just hitting it in the wrong way. You may accidentally run into someone and injure both you and your teammate now you might not mean it, but it might end up in you both sit out. It can be hard to pay for both your education and play Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Descriptive Essay About Volleyball Volleyball, one of the world's greatest sports. From the hot and muggy gym, to sweat dripping down each players face, volleyball is not for the faint of heart. This sport requires a single–minded desire: to win. It takes more than just teamwork to win. Volleyball has always been one of my favorite sports. I would always meet a new friend anywhere I would go. Believe it or not these situations are how you could meet your life long best friends. One day when I was in fifth grade, my volleyball team traveled to Trinity Clinton Township to oppose them in a volleyballgame. They had the brightest gym in the universe! I was so embarrassed, but luckily the other team was kind enough to help me clean up all the water I had spilt. I made a couple of jokes by comparing the big spill I made to "the flood on Noah's Ark," I somehow managed to make everyone around me laugh. I made a lot of new friends that day all due to a simple act of kindness towards others. As my heart grew for the love of volleyball, I took my talents to harder competition, Great Lakes at the end of my sixth–grade season. This is a very well–known team and they are very superior at volleyball. That was one of the scariest tryouts I have ever attended because there were over three hundred girls trying out for the volleyball team! The first thing everyone was tested on was "hitting". Every girl got in a line and tried their best to hit the ball over the net. Well, I was still in sixth grade at the time along with many other girls and most of us were all still fairly short. I was the next girl in line to hit, I had butterflies in my stomach like no other. I walked up to the ten–foot line and did my approach. Boom! The ball goes screaming over the net! I never knew I had such great power in my arm. Next up in line was the girl behind me her name was Megan, she was also short. Megan goes up to the line and swung at the ball but missed. The girls in the gym were laughing at her because the ball went under the net instead of going over. Suddenly Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 14. My Experience On My Volleyball Experience My Volleyball season experience As I had been getting ready for my second year of Volleyball tryouts my heart was pumping so fast in my chest I honestly thought I had been having a heart attack. Tomorrow was going to be the first day of tryouts and I was so excited yet nervous. Annika(my best friend) and I were practicing with our Volleyballs outside of her house. We were doing most of the drills we had remembered from the season before. After a couple of hours we decided we should stop before we pull a muscle or injury our bodies and rest up for tomorrow. My mother had cooked me up a grilled cheese sandwich with tomato soup, my absolute favorite meal ever, to get me ecstatic for tryouts and to settle my butterflies. Once I finished my delicious meal and proceed to get ready for bed, Annika and I called each other and talked for a while about what we were going to do tomorrow and how we hoped we would get on the team again. I quickly dozed off shortly after we hung up. As I arose the next morning my father had made me a slice of toast with strawberry jelly on it and some orange juice. Annika, Zoe and I carpool in the morning and so I waited patiently for her mother to come pick me up. As they picked me up we all jammed out to Beyonce's new tunes to try and get all the stress out of our bodies. Once we got to school, we announced our goodbyes and went our separate ways. As class dragged on I couldn't help but wonder what if this the year I didn't meet the requirements to Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. Reflection Paper On Volleyball Volleyball has been a sport that has played a key role in my life. Looking back to my first game when it all started I can remember the butterflies in my stomach; I was so nervous, so eager. I had anticipated it all day. All week and as a sixth grader it gave me something bigger to be apart of going into middle school. The sport first caught my eye when I watched my older sister, Bailey, play. A net set up down the middle of the gymnasium, the twelve players on the court (six on each side), the sound of the ball as it was volleying around. I was intrigued to learn more and, of course as the little sister, I admired anything my older sister did and wanted to do it too. So there I was facing the start of a season equipped with a blue jersey with number four on the front and back, new black knee pads fresh out of the package, and black shorts matching the rest of the team. I was ready. As the team and I finish setting up the court for the game the other team arrives, the butterflies in my stomach began growing bigger than before. Both sides began warming up with partners and suddenly a loud noise rings through the gym, the referee was calling for captains to see who would have first serve or receive (defence or offence). My team won the coin toss, so we were to start the game with the serve or offense. Five players and I rush onto the court, we were the starting six. One player goes to stand behind the boundary line waiting for the referee to signal her to serve. The referee Get more content on HelpWriting.net

In volleyball, there are different skills to acquire, like serving, passing, spiking, setting, and digging. However, beginners will usually start by knowing the basic posture and the correct hand grip first. They will have to grip their hands together tightly, straighten their arms and bend their knees slightly before hitting up the incoming ball. After learning how to hit the ball up with the correct postures, serving of the ball over the net to the opposite court will be taught. Serving volleyball with upper–hand is commonly used. However, it will be easier for the beginners to start by using the underhand volleyball serves. The underhand volleyball serves have a higher chance of serving over the net, yet the upper–hand volleyball serves allows the player to have more control over the ball and are more powerful. Serving the ball will start the game, and having a good serve will give the team more advantage to score more points which might turn the tables if the team is losing. However, one should always take note not to step on the court's line when serving the ball. Also, a game will not be complete without an attacking force. Spiking can be an effective attack that helps the team to win a point if the opponent players are not able to save the ball. Spiking is a skill that requires a lot of effort in correcting the coordination of the body to jump up and spike down the ball at the opponent's court. I was in the seventh grade when my volleyball career started. My sister started playing in the seventh grade and I just wanted to follow her footsteps. My seventh grade year was ok because I had just started out and really didn't know the game. There was A team and a B team, where A team was better than the B team. I tried my best to be on the A–team, but guess where I ended up, on the B team. No matter what team I was on I never gave up. I was so determined that my eight–grade year was going to be different. We got to high school and things didn't change, they were on JV as a freshman, and little old me was still on the freshman team. I decided that for the next year they weren't going to be better than I am. I worked so hard the summer going to my 10th grade year. I didn't have a summer because I was always in the gym or working out. No one could tell me that I wasn't going to be better. I can still remember it like it was yesterday, sitting in volleyball practice the first couple of days. It was the last day of the week and coach was handing out uniforms. She started off with the varsity team; she started calling names of the girls who was going to be on the varsity team. On that list guess who's name was on there, mine, and guess whose wasn't, those girls that was always better than I was. I was a three–year varsity letterman through out high school. My volleyball career thought me a lot. On thing I can always remember was a certain bible verse, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." That verse stuck with me all through out my volleyball career and is still with me as I play in college. My me never giving up I Get more content on HelpWriting.net
