Benefits Of A Good Teacher Essay
What makes a good teacher? A good teacher is someone who can adapt their teaching style to every type of learner and make learning a fun and
engaging experience. To do this, a desire to teach is necessary as it provides the motivation necessary to put effort into what you do. I do not know
if I will be a good teacher someday. As of now I have very little teaching experience and much to learn. I do find the teaching profession to be
enjoyable and I have the desire to be a great teacher. My hope is that this motivation will lead me down the correct path into becoming a great teacher
someday. "The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires." (William Ward)

Some might think of that as something bad, but in fact, it has worked to my favor. Due to this, I believe the students find it easier to relate and in doing
so, maybe even respect me more. Student hear the same thing time and time again about why it is important to learn English. More money, better jobs
and travel are all valid reasons for learning English. Saying these things again as an attempt to motivate them is probably not the best route when trying
to motivate and promote good classroom control. I believe that creating an interesting atmosphere and delivering the subject matter in an entertaining
fashion trumps bland attempts at motivating. Every student has their reason for learning English, but it is the teacher's responsibility to make the
material easier for the students to learn. This quote says it all: Having classroom presence is "partly innate" suggests Jo Palmer–Tweed, "one of the
things we're looking for is for people to have a natural presence".

My High School Teacher
My high school teacher, a lady, has inspired me to become a teacher. She demonstrated to me how caring, enthusiastic and accessible a teacher can be to
students. She inspired me with her unlimited patience when interacting with students including myself. She would approach each student in her own
way and gave every student their own privacy when it comes to getting assessment results. I respect her very much as she respected me and made my
final year of high school very memorable.

Being a teacher means being compassionate, tolerant and responsible for their students, the community, and the society. A good teacher is influential
and can impact others positively by being a role model/good example for them(young children). A good teacher definitely should have a strong
dedication towards teaching and students' learning.
A good teacher helps students overcome their fear, low–self esteem and struggle that they may face in school. A good teacher should also encourage
students to discover their own interest and talent. It also important that a good teacher will teach and demonstrate to students the importance of
honesty, good morals and values so that they know what to do and what not to do and what is wrong and what is right. This also helps by shaping their
personal understanding of themselves and the world which will benefit them in their future.
I am an attentive listener with unlimited patience. I can listen to students; questions, needs and worries. I am also a great observer meaning I can
see and obverse if any student is facing problems or need an adult to talk to. I care about how others feel and it is why my friends tend to speak out
to me about their struggles and concerns. I try my best to comfort them and also offer some advice to overcome their needs or to reduce their stress. I
am willing to devote my time to help others.I am flexible and collaborative when it comes to group work, I enjoy sharing my ideas and

What makes a good teacher? While many people may have certain credentials and can make list out of these. The teacher must have a strong
connection with his students, energetic enthusiastic, the list can go on. Hal Urban has done this by writing the book, The Classroom: 20 things
Good Teachers Do. As future educators it is important for us to reflect, and remember our roots of where we came from and the different
techniques both positive and negative that our teachers used in the classroom. Not only does this help us grow as educators, but it helps us learn
the importance of the kind of environment we want to create in the classroom. Urban introduces these credentials by talking about how in one of his
classes professor Dr. Kirk, asked who your favorite teacher was and why? He then responds saying "Dr. Sweeney, he has a lot of enthusiasm." Urban
than goes on to say that was what "Dr. Kirk expected I ask that question every year, and I always get the same answer. He opens with that...show more

In the early years of education students were punished for things such as writing left–handed and speaking a language other than English in the class
room. In the years since then there have been many changes and advances in the field of education. These changes include everything from how to treat
students in the classroom, to what to teach students, and which students were deemed fit to be educated. Another area, in which this profession has
undertaken growth and development, is the qualities that teacher need to possess in order for them to become more effective in the education of their
students. In this paper I will discuss the qualities that are necessary for effective teaching, supported with information from an interview with Dr....show

Maurer. With this knowledge teachers will be able to fully inform students about the topic and allow the student to be able to create an informed
opinion of their own. This also allows students to place themselves on the front lines of their education, not trailing behind with old or even incorrect
information. For me, in the Industrial Technology Education field, this also means that the students in my class will be better prepared for the
challenges that lay ahead of them in industrial fields or trade school with the most current methods in use in their specific area. During the interview,
with Dr. Maurer, she also said that it is the responsibility of the teacher to gain the knowledge in order to teach the subject matter, but if the teacher is
unable to inform the students than the teacher is essentially ineffective. Teaching is not just about preaching to students and expecting them to
memorize and regurgitate the information they are being given on a daily basis. Dr. Maurer believes that teachers need to ask quality questions to their
students because not all students learn during class discussion. She went on to say that the teacher has to teach to the student's way of learning, because
the students are not going to learn according to how the teacher wants to teach. In order for a teacher to be effective they have

A good teacher is not defined by a specific personality or style of teaching; rather, a good teacher is defined by her commitment to her students '
learning. A good teacher is someone who is patient with her students, who creatively and relentlessly finds helpful ways to communicate ideas to
students, and who instills confidence in her students by setting them up for success. A good teacher inspires her students to strive for more than they
think possible. A good teacher teaches her students how to learn on their own. A good teacher is able to manage a class effectively and cultivate a

It 's good for the mind and body to have a break, get some sleep, be with friends, eat some food, etc.; sometimes I just get so excited and focused on
going above and beyond that I neglect other, equally important things. This has always been a problem in my life throughout high school and college
and various jobs I have worked. I was always an Astudent and a dedicated athlete and a devoted employee – I have even received feedback from
employers at times telling me to not work so much in my free time. I have learned that sometimes it is better to settle for simpler and equally
sufficient activities/solutions than to spend hours of personal time coming up with something more "interesting" or creative; and while I believe I
have made some progress in making these determinations of when to spend less time on work in personal time, I think it will always be an area I can
work to improve on.
Teaching Approaches
There are several methods and approaches of teaching available to be used in the EFL classroom. As Davies and Fraenkel point out in their book, The
Language in English Teaching, there is no "best" method but rather different choices based on each unique learning situation.1 In the context of a B2

A Good Teacher Essay
Who is a teacher and what makes a good teacher? By definition, a teacher is a person who teaches, especially in school, but can anyone be a
teacher? That is a matter of the possession of qualification and the overall talent utilized whilst on the workforce. Having such qualification simply
doesn't create a good teacher, though. Becoming a good teacher requires work, effort and time that one must be willing to sacrifice from their daily
lives. A good teacher must be able to teach the students clearly. He/she must be well prepared, whether it is regarding the lesson of the day or any
sudden questions the pupil may ask. A good teacher should have confidence with themselves and be organized at all times. A good teacher respects his
/her job and tries to be as effective as possible.
But from being a good teacher, there is one higher form of teachers' ranking and that is being a great and effective teacher. Being a good teacher is
easy, but being a great teacher requires more effort than what is usually expected and required. With being a great teacher, teaching is not a job, but a

situation or use it as an output in the education industry whilst teaching. But can intelligent people be creative? Few studies have claimed that not all
intelligent people can be creative, but other researches have shown this to be fabricated. Creativity is claimed to be the highest form of intelligence. So,
should creativity be looked upon as if opposed to intelligence? Creativity is one of the qualities of intelligence; same way as analytical intelligence and
practical intelligence. Although analytical and practical intelligence plays an important role, without creativity, the task loses the touch of the creator,

Characteristics Of A Good Teacher Essay
Item One: Write a short essay reflecting on what characteristics make a good teacher, using your own educational experiences. Without using names,
identify the "best" and "worst" teacher that you have had and support your choices with rationales.
What makes a good teacher? Ask this question to one hundred people and one would get one hundred different answers. I have contemplated this
question myself over the course of my twenty years in education. The ideas that I have about the answer to this question are not the same ones that I
had twenty years ago. In my personal experience being a "good" teacher is something that I always wanted. In recent years I have learned that
teaching is not about being a "good" teacher but about striving each day to be a "better" teacher than I was the day before.
A good teacher is one who knows her students and her students' needs. The students are the reason that the teacher is there. Classrooms are filled with
students from differing backgrounds and families. As a teacher, one should know her students by talking with them, asking them questions, learning
their likes and dislikes and making them feel safe and comfortable in the classroom. The classroom should be a safe haven for students where the
teacher creates an atmosphere where students feel comfortable in being themselves and expressing their opinions.
Another characteristic of a good teacher is one who knows her subject and is able to extend that knowledge to her students. Every

aggression, negative attitudes that he/she can see in some students have a root cause. He/she know that they are really scared young people who
have come through some bed experiences in life. This will keep a teacher calm and have control. If a teacher can do this, he/she will gain more than
love from his/her students. As we know, sense of humor is a key to surviving as a teacher. A teacher who is humorous and funny can reduces barriers

Standard 1: Development, learning, and motivation–
A teacher has his or her own style or way of motivating their students. Motivation plays an important part in a student's success of learning and
development. There are times when teachers spend more time with their students than most parents do, thus, a teacher is fundamental in shaping their
students success. If parents or teachers are poor leaders our children are the ones who are at a disadvantage. When they shine as leaders our children
blossom and the world is wide open to them. As a future teacher it is of utmost importance that I make sure to find the best style of teaching for the

Not every child learns the same way, nor are they interested in the same things. In my fieldwork I have noticed that it is becoming more difficult to
keep the attention of twenty to twenty–five children under the age of ten. Most of the students in the class were not really that interested in
researching or reading. When it came time to learn a new activity they would sigh and state that they did not want to do any of the work. However, if
a conversation was sparked about a new video game they were all excited to converse about it. A good teacher must learn to incorporate everyone's
beliefs into the daily curriculum. All students must be aware of the differences in the world and around them. Teachers have a lot of responsibility and
need to make sure that they make learning a positive experience for all. By being sensitive to the needs of everyone and presenting different ways of
doing things, it can be possible for everyone to have an equal opportunity to do their best.
Standard 3: Instruction– Differentiated instruction is very effective in the classroom. Teachers should be well aware of how greatly students may vary
in readiness, interest, and modes of learning. Teachers need to work to adjust the classroom to the needs of subgroups of students. Cooperative learning
or student– centered instruction is not a new concept. Like direct instruction it has been used as

Strengths And Weaknesses Of A Good Teacher
Teachers come in all different shapes and sizes. The way someone shows up in the classroom, as a teacher, is associated with how they show up in
their ordinary, everyday life.
Which is to say, there are as many different teachers as there are different personalities in the world. Many factors contribute to an effective teacher,
including the teaching approach, classroom presence, and capability for creativity.

Another weakness of mine as a teacher is that sometimes it is difficult for me to monitor the students during class. For example, if a student is doodling
during the lesson, I am not very skilled in redirecting the student's attention to the lesson. With this weakness, as with my other weaknesses, I feel that
it will improve over time. In other words, as I gain more experience in the classroom, I expect to improve on my weaknesses.
Teaching Approaches
A teaching approach considers what it takes to teach and learn a language.2 When it comes to teaching approaches, I think they may vary depending on
both the lesson and the students' needs. Overall, however, I think I prefer to use the Affective Humanistic Approach. This approach is based on the
principles of respect, communication, interaction, peer support, and a comfortable atmosphere.3 I like this approach because I personally think the
learning environment dictates a great of how well the students will do in the classroom. I also think peer support will aid in classroom unity, which
may help the students to feel more comfortable with questions and performance. Another approach I like to use is the Cognitive Approach. The
Cognitive Approach uses the idea that language is a series of rules best processed through an inductive method.3 I like to use this approach, depending
on the level of the students, because I find that it challenges the students but

Farr (2010) says effective teachers should set big goals that are meaningful for their students and measurable throughout the year. When a teacher
invests their time into their students they show motivation needed to reach their students needs at any level to make sure they reach the goals set for
them. Planning is essential and teachers must not just plan a lesson and move on with it, they have to understand their students and have an idea of
where their students are going and how best they can help them succeed growth in the most efficient way. Being able to plan for each students
learning means also being able to change. Effective teachers should be able to observe their students learning along the way and change whenever
needed to ensure their students are continuing to develop knowledge. Some students may need more time and different strategies used to reach their
goals. Teachers have to be prepared to take a step back, decide what the problem is and come up with solutions and approaches that will help their
students. Overall an effective teacher no matter what concern, issue, difficulty or other obstacle may be in their way should be able to overcome them,
and find the strategy or strategies to reach each student to ensure that they can achieve those big goals set for them. (Farr, 2010) In an article done by

Good Teacher Vs. Bad Teacher
Angel Green English 102 Dr. Bloom 7 October 2015 Good Teacher vs. Bad Teacher Students have all experienced good and bad teachers. Some
students can sit in a class and want to learn and engage with a good teacher or the class could be extremely boring because of a bad teacher. The
question you have to ask is what qualities does a teacher have to have to make them a good or bad teacher? What components does a good teacher
have, that a bad teacher doesn't? Being a good teacher means having a great personality, being fun, and keeping a nice attitude. They also are able to
keep their students engaged in learning the materials that they are teaching. A good teacher doesn't mind having a bad student in their class because
they enjoy what they do so it's not hard to make that one or two bad student(s) become engage in class. A bad teacher is the complete opposite of a
good teacher. They have a terrible personality, their class is usually boring, and they have a nasty attitude. If a bad teacher has bad student in their
class then they don't have too much to stay to them and they usually start to corrupt the whole class. I think there are a few things that separate a good
teacher from a bad teacher: how they teach the class, what they are teaching the class, and how often they are available for their students. How the
teacher teaches the class is really important. If the teacher is not engaging with the students then the students won't be as eager to learn. The tone of the

Positive Characteristics Of A Good Teacher
Being 19 and graduated from highschool I've had my fair share of good and bad teachers. I feel like the main 4 effective characteristics of a teacher
are, a good communicator, a good listener, being understandable, and having good sense of humor. Being a good communicator plays a huge role
into being an effective teacher. Many students will have tons of questions, and you're not able to answer those questions in an effective way then
you're setting your kid up for failure. Also, being able to communicate doesn't just mean being able to talk with students, you have to also deal with
parents and be able to talk with on a professional level. Being able to communicate is one of the top things a teacher should have down and ready to
go once school starts. Being a good listener to me, shows that you actually care what the student have to say. In my past I've teachers who didn't
even bother to care what I said, so I took that as disrespect and why should I show you respect if it's not coming back the other way? As a teacher
you have to realize students care a lot about what they tell you and they trust you that you're listening. No, you're not going to remember every little
thing a kid tells you, but at that moment they expect you just to listen and give some type of reaction or response. With being understandable I take it
from a personal experience. When I was younger my family was going through some things and I missed a lot of school. Once I got back the teacher

One such method is the communicative method of teaching. This is an anthropological approach that situates the learners in a real environment and its
use based. The International Teacher Training Organization recognizes this approach and has converted it into a method. The goal is to reduce teacher
talk time and up student talk time in a series of two–practices with one communicative activity. Again the goal is for the student to not only talk and
"do the learning", but to have practical use of the language. The role of the teacher becomes a monitor. According to Cabj and Nikolic "teacher is to
help students identify and achieve their own educational goals and an element necessary for the future success is the ability to communicate and
cooperate with others." For Abby, especially as a more introverted learner, having a teaching methodology that allows a student to direct their learning

What makes a good teacher? Essay
In my opinion, a good teacher should be one who puts her heart into teaching. This is because only by doing so will the students feel their passion
and hard work. When a teacher strives hard for the students, students will put in their effort as well. If a teacher dislikes her job, goes to classes in a
bad mood, her teaching would also be affected and students would not be able to enjoy lessons as well.
Another point that makes a good teacher would be his/her patience. Teachers should not get upset or even worse, give up on the students who are not
so strong in their studies. Instead, they should have the patience to slowly coach them, give them extra lessons, and find different ways to encourage

Those are just a few illustrations of the obligations teachers have. These should not be considered obligations, but honors. Who would not want to be

As I begin my teaching career and the years prior to it, many ideas and decisions will take place. Being that I plan to teach elementary school and
deal with small children, I plan to be excessive on classroom accessories. Children have a limited attention span and a dull, plain room would not be
appealing to them. The adjustment of leaving "mommy" will be hard enough for them anyway. I hope to make the environment comforting and
welcoming for them. Bright colored bulletin boards and posters with needed information on them. I would like my students seated around the room in
a circle. From experience, I've found that children feel more at ease and apt to speak up when seated this way.
I believe the teacher should be authoritative, especially in the lower grades. The students need to know who is in charge and feel that there is
someone of authority to look up to. Still yet, I want the children to feel a sense of authority, to make decisions and play a leadership role. Possibly, let
one child be "leader of the day" each day; for example, lead the lines or pass out the papers.
Motivation and discipline, I view as the primary topics of educating a classroom. Children have to be motivated, it is human

Characteristics Of A Good Teacher
hat is a good teacher?: A good teacher, at its base, has two main characteristics: A Solid, working knowledge of the content and a high intrapersonal
intelligence. One without the other will result in a horrible teacher. If a teacher is an expert in their content but is incapable of relating and contenting
with their students, they will not effectively teach. On the other hand, a teacher who is a "people person" and has a great relationship with their
students, but doesn't have a solid grasp of the content, will inevitably fail to teach effectively as well. A good teacher will have those two basic
components. However, a 'great' teacher will have extreme patience, be encouraging, inspiring, a clear communicator, in tune with the emotions of their
students and show genuine excitement for the content that they're teaching. Students notice these things. Passion and excitement is contagious. The
teacher mindset also goes a long way. For example, "empathize with kids, respect them and believe that each one has something special that can be
built upon (Lieberman, Ann. Teachwithsimplicity.com)." Respecting, caring and believing in every student makes the quality of one's teaching go
from great to life–changing. Strengths and Weaknesses: My first–time teaching in this program I made a few mistakes. Firstly, I didn't write new
vocabulary on the board for visual reference. Secondly, I did not monitor the room efficiently for answering all the student's questions and meeting all
their needs. Lastly, I overexplained the grammar concept, resulting in a high percentage of teacher–talk time. I have corrected these errors for the most
part. Sometimes I still forget to write new vocabulary on the board, but for the most part I do this. I also went to the other extreme at one point where
I over–monitored. I think I have know found a healthy balance in the classroom. In my opinion, the thing that I need to work on the most is eliminating
some of my teacher–talk time. With every teacher practice I discover new ways to allow the students to talk more than me. That is the hardest thing
for me because the silence of students makes me feel uncomfortable, so I often try to fill the silence with my own voice. This is what I need to

much that nowadays it is unfeasible to visualize even a day without them. It is good that we are making such exceptional breakthroughs in science and
technology so as to make human living more opportune and comfortable. However, there are certain aspects of such development that are not so much
to be proud of. Some persons consider that these material things – cars and TV and so on, are necessary to set up an assured position in the civilization.

Though training and experience are the main qualities of the teacher, but the personal qualities of the teacher also play a vital role in shaping the
overall personality of the teacher. Some people are good at explaining things by nature and love working with a wide range of people. These
personal qualities of an individual increase the chances of becoming a good teacher. Knowledge in a particular subject area can be gained with the
passage of time. Ability to maintain decorum and discipline in the classroom are several other qualities that a good teacher should possess. Teachers
need regular training so that they can brush up their skills and knowledge. So it would be completely wrong to say if a teacher has good personal
qualities of a teacher, he would not require training. Personal qualities combined with training can make you a great

Benefits Of A Good Teacher Essay

  • 1. Benefits Of A Good Teacher Essay What makes a good teacher? A good teacher is someone who can adapt their teaching style to every type of learner and make learning a fun and engaging experience. To do this, a desire to teach is necessary as it provides the motivation necessary to put effort into what you do. I do not know if I will be a good teacher someday. As of now I have very little teaching experience and much to learn. I do find the teaching profession to be enjoyable and I have the desire to be a great teacher. My hope is that this motivation will lead me down the correct path into becoming a great teacher someday. "The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires." (William Ward) Strengths and Weaknesses: The first experience I had with teaching was a nervous one. Although I only had three students, it seemed as if I was standing in front of a group of eighty about to present a...show more content... Some might think of that as something bad, but in fact, it has worked to my favor. Due to this, I believe the students find it easier to relate and in doing so, maybe even respect me more. Student hear the same thing time and time again about why it is important to learn English. More money, better jobs and travel are all valid reasons for learning English. Saying these things again as an attempt to motivate them is probably not the best route when trying to motivate and promote good classroom control. I believe that creating an interesting atmosphere and delivering the subject matter in an entertaining fashion trumps bland attempts at motivating. Every student has their reason for learning English, but it is the teacher's responsibility to make the material easier for the students to learn. This quote says it all: Having classroom presence is "partly innate" suggests Jo Palmer–Tweed, "one of the things we're looking for is for people to have a natural presence". • 2. My High School Teacher My high school teacher, a lady, has inspired me to become a teacher. She demonstrated to me how caring, enthusiastic and accessible a teacher can be to students. She inspired me with her unlimited patience when interacting with students including myself. She would approach each student in her own way and gave every student their own privacy when it comes to getting assessment results. I respect her very much as she respected me and made my final year of high school very memorable. Teaching is a good career choice because of the satisfaction you achieve when you teach or help a student in any way. I believe teaching is also the transmission of knowledge and information. Being a teacher means being compassionate, tolerant and responsible for their students, the community, and the society. A good teacher is influential and can impact others positively by being a role model/good example for them(young children). A good teacher definitely should have a strong dedication towards teaching and students' learning. A good teacher helps students overcome their fear, low–self esteem and struggle that they may face in school. A good teacher should also encourage students to discover their own interest and talent. It also important that a good teacher will teach and demonstrate to students the importance of honesty, good morals and values so that they know what to do and what not to do and what is wrong and what is right. This also helps by shaping their personal understanding of themselves and the world which will benefit them in their future. I am an attentive listener with unlimited patience. I can listen to students; questions, needs and worries. I am also a great observer meaning I can see and obverse if any student is facing problems or need an adult to talk to. I care about how others feel and it is why my friends tend to speak out to me about their struggles and concerns. I try my best to comfort them and also offer some advice to overcome their needs or to reduce their stress. I am willing to devote my time to help others.I am flexible and collaborative when it comes to group work, I enjoy sharing my ideas and Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. What makes a good teacher? While many people may have certain credentials and can make list out of these. The teacher must have a strong connection with his students, energetic enthusiastic, the list can go on. Hal Urban has done this by writing the book, The Classroom: 20 things Good Teachers Do. As future educators it is important for us to reflect, and remember our roots of where we came from and the different techniques both positive and negative that our teachers used in the classroom. Not only does this help us grow as educators, but it helps us learn the importance of the kind of environment we want to create in the classroom. Urban introduces these credentials by talking about how in one of his classes professor Dr. Kirk, asked who your favorite teacher was and why? He then responds saying "Dr. Sweeney, he has a lot of enthusiasm." Urban than goes on to say that was what "Dr. Kirk expected I ask that question every year, and I always get the same answer. • 4. What Makes a Good Teacher Essay example In the early years of education students were punished for things such as writing left–handed and speaking a language other than English in the class room. In the years since then there have been many changes and advances in the field of education. These changes include everything from how to treat students in the classroom, to what to teach students, and which students were deemed fit to be educated. Another area, in which this profession has undertaken growth and development, is the qualities that teacher need to possess in order for them to become more effective in the education of their students. In this paper I will discuss the qualities that are necessary for effective teaching, supported with information from an interview with Dr....show more content... Maurer. With this knowledge teachers will be able to fully inform students about the topic and allow the student to be able to create an informed opinion of their own. This also allows students to place themselves on the front lines of their education, not trailing behind with old or even incorrect information. For me, in the Industrial Technology Education field, this also means that the students in my class will be better prepared for the challenges that lay ahead of them in industrial fields or trade school with the most current methods in use in their specific area. During the interview, with Dr. Maurer, she also said that it is the responsibility of the teacher to gain the knowledge in order to teach the subject matter, but if the teacher is unable to inform the students than the teacher is essentially ineffective. Teaching is not just about preaching to students and expecting them to memorize and regurgitate the information they are being given on a daily basis. Dr. Maurer believes that teachers need to ask quality questions to their students because not all students learn during class discussion. She went on to say that the teacher has to teach to the student's way of learning, because the students are not going to learn according to how the teacher wants to teach. In order for a teacher to be effective they have Get more content on HelpWriting.net

A good teacher is someone who is patient with her students, who creatively and relentlessly finds helpful ways to communicate ideas to students, and who instills confidence in her students by setting them up for success. A good teacher inspires her students to strive for more than they think possible. A good teacher teaches her students how to learn on their own. A good teacher is able to manage a class effectively and cultivate a space that is free and safe for learning. And, most importantly, a good teacher is always driven by a motivation of genuine love and care for her students. ...show more content... It 's good for the mind and body to have a break, get some sleep, be with friends, eat some food, etc.; sometimes I just get so excited and focused on going above and beyond that I neglect other, equally important things. This has always been a problem in my life throughout high school and college and various jobs I have worked. I was always an Astudent and a dedicated athlete and a devoted employee – I have even received feedback from employers at times telling me to not work so much in my free time. I have learned that sometimes it is better to settle for simpler and equally sufficient activities/solutions than to spend hours of personal time coming up with something more "interesting" or creative; and while I believe I have made some progress in making these determinations of when to spend less time on work in personal time, I think it will always be an area I can work to improve on. Teaching Approaches There are several methods and approaches of teaching available to be used in the EFL classroom. As Davies and Fraenkel point out in their book, The Language in English Teaching, there is no "best" method but rather different choices based on each unique learning situation.1 In the context of a B2 level classroom, where students have already developed a degree of fluency and spontaneity in the target Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. A Good Teacher Essay Who is a teacher and what makes a good teacher? By definition, a teacher is a person who teaches, especially in school, but can anyone be a teacher? That is a matter of the possession of qualification and the overall talent utilized whilst on the workforce. Having such qualification simply doesn't create a good teacher, though. Becoming a good teacher requires work, effort and time that one must be willing to sacrifice from their daily lives. A good teacher must be able to teach the students clearly. He/she must be well prepared, whether it is regarding the lesson of the day or any sudden questions the pupil may ask. A good teacher should have confidence with themselves and be organized at all times. A good teacher respects his /her job and tries to be as effective as possible. But from being a good teacher, there is one higher form of teachers' ranking and that is being a great and effective teacher. Being a good teacher is easy, but being a great teacher requires more effort than what is usually expected and required. A certain degree of knowledge is essential for one person to be able to adapt it to any situation or use it as an output in the education industry whilst teaching. But can intelligent people be creative? Few studies have claimed that not all intelligent people can be creative, but other researches have shown this to be fabricated. Creativity is claimed to be the highest form of intelligence. So, should creativity be looked upon as if opposed to intelligence? • 7. Characteristics Of A Good Teacher Essay Item One: Write a short essay reflecting on what characteristics make a good teacher, using your own educational experiences. Without using names, identify the "best" and "worst" teacher that you have had and support your choices with rationales. What makes a good teacher? Ask this question to one hundred people and one would get one hundred different answers. I have contemplated this question myself over the course of my twenty years in education. The ideas that I have about the answer to this question are not the same ones that I had twenty years ago. In my personal experience being a "good" teacher is something that I always wanted. In recent years I have learned that teaching is not about being a "good" teacher but about striving each day to be a "better" teacher than I was the day before. A good teacher is one who knows her students and her students' needs. The students are the reason that the teacher is there. Classrooms are filled with students from differing backgrounds and families. As a teacher, one should know her students by talking with them, asking them questions, learning their likes and dislikes and making them feel safe and comfortable in the classroom. The classroom should be a safe haven for students where the teacher creates an atmosphere where students feel comfortable in being themselves and expressing their opinions. Another characteristic of a good teacher is one who knows her subject and is able to extend that knowledge to her students. Every Get more content on HelpWriting.net

A teacher must have the ability to bond with the students, to understand and resonate with their feelings and emotions. He/she need to put his/herself in students' situation to understand and solve students' problem. A good teacher must know that the aggression, negative attitudes that he/she can see in some students have a root cause. He/she know that they are really scared young people who have come through some bed experiences in life. This will keep a teacher calm and have control. If a teacher can do this, he/she will gain more than love from his/her students. As we know, sense of humor is a key to surviving as a teacher. • 9. Reflective Essay on a Good Teacher... Reflective Essay: A Good Teacher... Standard 1: Development, learning, and motivation– A teacher has his or her own style or way of motivating their students. Motivation plays an important part in a student's success of learning and development. There are times when teachers spend more time with their students than most parents do, thus, a teacher is fundamental in shaping their students success. If parents or teachers are poor leaders our children are the ones who are at a disadvantage. When they shine as leaders our children blossom and the world is wide open to them. Not every child learns the same way, nor are they interested in the same things. In my fieldwork I have noticed that it is becoming more difficult to keep the attention of twenty to twenty–five children under the age of ten. Most of the students in the class were not really that interested in researching or reading. When it came time to learn a new activity they would sigh and state that they did not want to do any of the work. However, if a conversation was sparked about a new video game they were all excited to converse about it. A good teacher must learn to incorporate everyone's beliefs into the daily curriculum. All students must be aware of the differences in the world and around them. Teachers have a lot of responsibility and need to make sure that they make learning a positive experience for all. By being sensitive to the needs of everyone and presenting different ways of doing things, it can be possible for everyone to have an equal opportunity to do their best. Standard 3: Instruction– Differentiated instruction is very effective in the classroom. Teachers should be well aware of how greatly students may vary in readiness, interest, and modes of learning. Teachers need to work to adjust the classroom to the needs of subgroups of students. Cooperative learning or student– centered instruction is not a new concept. • 10. Strengths And Weaknesses Of A Good Teacher Teachers come in all different shapes and sizes. The way someone shows up in the classroom, as a teacher, is associated with how they show up in their ordinary, everyday life. Which is to say, there are as many different teachers as there are different personalities in the world. Many factors contribute to an effective teacher, including the teaching approach, classroom presence, and capability for creativity. What Is a Good Teacher? Everyone may have their own idea of what a good teacher is, but I think a good teacher is someone who is passionate about helping others learn. I think a teacher is someone who is not only knowledgeable, but also has a strong desire to profess his/her knowledge of a subject to others. Some might even say...show more content... Another weakness of mine as a teacher is that sometimes it is difficult for me to monitor the students during class. For example, if a student is doodling during the lesson, I am not very skilled in redirecting the student's attention to the lesson. With this weakness, as with my other weaknesses, I feel that it will improve over time. In other words, as I gain more experience in the classroom, I expect to improve on my weaknesses. Teaching Approaches A teaching approach considers what it takes to teach and learn a language.2 When it comes to teaching approaches, I think they may vary depending on both the lesson and the students' needs. Overall, however, I think I prefer to use the Affective Humanistic Approach. This approach is based on the principles of respect, communication, interaction, peer support, and a comfortable atmosphere.3 I like this approach because I personally think the learning environment dictates a great of how well the students will do in the classroom. I also think peer support will aid in classroom unity, which may help the students to feel more comfortable with questions and performance. Another approach I like to use is the Cognitive Approach. The Cognitive Approach uses the idea that language is a series of rules best processed through an inductive method.3 I like to use this approach, depending on the level of the students, because I find that it challenges the students but Get more content on HelpWriting.net

A teacher's way of relating to their students, and teaching them to achieve both socially and academically contributes to how effective teachers are. What does it mean to be an effective teacher? Overall there seems to be an emphasis that teacher effectiveness is related to how well their students are doing based on standardized testing. As teachers we know there is much more that goes into being an effective teacher then just teaching our students based on tests. Farr (2010) says effective teachers should set big goals that are meaningful for their students and measurable throughout the year. When a teacher invests their time into their students they show motivation needed to reach their students needs at any level to make sure they reach the goals set for them. Planning is essential and teachers must not just plan a lesson and move on with it, they have to understand their students and have an idea of where their students are going and how best they can help them succeed growth in the most efficient way. Being able to plan for each students learning means also being able to change. Effective teachers should be able to observe their students learning along the way and change whenever needed to ensure their students are continuing to develop knowledge. Some students may need more time and different strategies used to reach their goals. Teachers have to be prepared to take a step back, decide what the problem is and come up with solutions and approaches that will help their students. Overall an effective teacher no matter what concern, issue, difficulty or other obstacle may be in their way should be able to overcome them, and find the strategy or strategies to reach each student to ensure that they can achieve those big goals set for them. • 12. Good Teacher Vs. Bad Teacher Angel Green English 102 Dr. Bloom 7 October 2015 Good Teacher vs. Bad Teacher Students have all experienced good and bad teachers. Some students can sit in a class and want to learn and engage with a good teacher or the class could be extremely boring because of a bad teacher. The question you have to ask is what qualities does a teacher have to have to make them a good or bad teacher? What components does a good teacher have, that a bad teacher doesn't? Being a good teacher means having a great personality, being fun, and keeping a nice attitude. They also are able to keep their students engaged in learning the materials that they are teaching. A good teacher doesn't mind having a bad student in their class because they enjoy what they do so it's not hard to make that one or two bad student(s) become engage in class. A bad teacher is the complete opposite of a good teacher. They have a terrible personality, their class is usually boring, and they have a nasty attitude. If a bad teacher has bad student in their class then they don't have too much to stay to them and they usually start to corrupt the whole class. I think there are a few things that separate a good teacher from a bad teacher: how they teach the class, what they are teaching the class, and how often they are available for their students. How the teacher teaches the class is really important. If the teacher is not engaging with the students then the students won't be as eager to learn. • 14. Positive Characteristics Of A Good Teacher Being 19 and graduated from highschool I've had my fair share of good and bad teachers. I feel like the main 4 effective characteristics of a teacher are, a good communicator, a good listener, being understandable, and having good sense of humor. Being a good communicator plays a huge role into being an effective teacher. Many students will have tons of questions, and you're not able to answer those questions in an effective way then you're setting your kid up for failure. Also, being able to communicate doesn't just mean being able to talk with students, you have to also deal with parents and be able to talk with on a professional level. Being able to communicate is one of the top things a teacher should have down and ready to go once school starts. Being a good listener to me, shows that you actually care what the student have to say. In my past I've teachers who didn't even bother to care what I said, so I took that as disrespect and why should I show you respect if it's not coming back the other way? As a teacher you have to realize students care a lot about what they tell you and they trust you that you're listening. No, you're not going to remember every little thing a kid tells you, but at that moment they expect you just to listen and give some type of reaction or response. With being understandable I take it from a personal experience. When I was younger my family was going through some things and I missed a lot of school. Once I got back the teacher didn't even Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. Strengths And Weaknesses Of A Good Teacher One of the most essential exercises when in comes to professional development as an instructor is to continually reflect on your perspective, methodology, instruction and behavior within your profession. Doing so ensures that you are growing and improving your teaching skills by building on old strengths to benefit you as an instructor, but especially by ensuring improvement in the students that you serve. What is a good teacher? "What the educator does in teaching is to make it possible for the students to become themselves." 1A teacher 's objective should not be to shape the students as a reflection of that educators image, instead they should see themselves as the medium of which the information is communicated,...show more content... Page 4 Cassroom Approaches From the data gather about Abby one could relate a number of teaching style to her needs. One such method is the communicative method of teaching. This is an anthropological approach that situates the learners in a real environment and its use based. The International Teacher Training Organization recognizes this approach and has converted it into a method. The goal is to reduce teacher talk time and up student talk time in a series of two–practices with one communicative activity. Again the goal is for the student to not only talk and "do the learning", but to have practical use of the language. The role of the teacher becomes a monitor. According to Cabj and Nikolic "teacher is to help students identify and achieve their own educational goals and an element necessary for the future success is the ability to communicate and cooperate with others." For Abby, especially as a more introverted learner, having a teaching methodology that allows a student to direct their learning and provide opportunities for growth Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. What makes a good teacher? Essay In my opinion, a good teacher should be one who puts her heart into teaching. This is because only by doing so will the students feel their passion and hard work. When a teacher strives hard for the students, students will put in their effort as well. If a teacher dislikes her job, goes to classes in a bad mood, her teaching would also be affected and students would not be able to enjoy lessons as well. Another point that makes a good teacher would be his/her patience. Teachers should not get upset or even worse, give up on the students who are not so strong in their studies. Instead, they should have the patience to slowly coach them, give them extra lessons, and find different ways to encourage them. Let them know that the teacher...show more content... It would be better if the teacher is able to find common topics to chat with the students. This would let the students feel like they can relate better to the teacher. "You must not give up. Everyone else might want to be the sun that lights up your life, but I rather be the moon that guides you through your darkest hours. Let's strive hard and work toward our goal together!" This was what my high school teacher told me 10 years ago and I have remembered it until now, and will remember it for the next 10 years and so on. I was once a problematic kid who mixed with bad company and flunk tests. I never thought about what I was going to do the next day, what more when I grew up. Of course when I was younger, I had lots of dreams. I wanted to set up my own company, I wanted to be a teacher, I wanted to be able to drive an airplane and the list went on. But as the years went by, they became less insignificant to me and soon, I forgot every single one of those dreams and goals. I got to a new school and knew friends who smoke and took drugs. My grades started dropping from "A" to fails. But I did not care. I could not be bothered by then. I went partying every night and got home drunk. What was the point of studying? • 17. Being a Teacher Essay Being a Teacher Is your life important to you? That is a statement anyone would replay, "yes" to. As surprising as it may seem, though, an important, successful life would not even be, without one essential element: teachers. Teachers, educators, instructors, mentors, or baby–sitters, whatever they may be classified as, they are necessary for many reasons. They are foundation or our American society, they are a source of security, and possibly the parents some never had. They are the foundation of our American society, meaning they educate everyone. Those are just a few illustrations of the obligations teachers have. These should not be considered obligations, but honors. Who would not want to be such an influential role model in others' lives? As I begin my teaching career and the years prior to it, many ideas and decisions will take place. Being that I plan to teach elementary school and deal with small children, I plan to be excessive on classroom accessories. Children have a limited attention span and a dull, plain room would not be appealing to them. The adjustment of leaving "mommy" will be hard enough for them anyway. I hope to make the environment comforting and welcoming for them. Bright colored bulletin boards and posters with needed information on them. I would like my students seated around the room in a circle. From experience, I've found that children feel more at ease and apt to speak up when seated this way. I believe the teacher should be authoritative, especially in the lower grades. The students need to know who is in charge and feel that there is someone of authority to look up to. Still yet, I want the children to feel a sense of authority, to make decisions and play a leadership role. Possibly, let one child be "leader of the day" each day; for example, lead the lines or pass out the papers. Motivation and discipline, I view as the primary topics of educating a classroom. Children have to be motivated, it is human

  • 19. Characteristics Of A Good Teacher hat is a good teacher?: A good teacher, at its base, has two main characteristics: A Solid, working knowledge of the content and a high intrapersonal intelligence. One without the other will result in a horrible teacher. If a teacher is an expert in their content but is incapable of relating and contenting with their students, they will not effectively teach. On the other hand, a teacher who is a "people person" and has a great relationship with their students, but doesn't have a solid grasp of the content, will inevitably fail to teach effectively as well. A good teacher will have those two basic components. However, a 'great' teacher will have extreme patience, be encouraging, inspiring, a clear communicator, in tune with the emotions of their students and show genuine excitement for the content that they're teaching. Students notice these things. Passion and excitement is contagious. The teacher mindset also goes a long way. For example, "empathize with kids, respect them and believe that each one has something special that can be built upon (Lieberman, Ann. Teachwithsimplicity.com)." Respecting, caring and believing in every student makes the quality of one's teaching go from great to life–changing. Strengths and Weaknesses: My first–time teaching in this program I made a few mistakes. Firstly, I didn't write new vocabulary on the board for visual reference. Secondly, I did not monitor the room efficiently for answering all the student's questions and meeting all their needs. Lastly, I overexplained the grammar concept, resulting in a high percentage of teacher–talk time. I have corrected these errors for the most part. Sometimes I still forget to write new vocabulary on the board, but for the most part I do this. I also went to the other extreme at one point where I over–monitored. I think I have know found a healthy balance in the classroom. In my opinion, the thing that I need to work on the most is eliminating some of my teacher–talk time. With every teacher practice I discover new ways to allow the students to talk more than me. That is the hardest thing for me because the silence of students makes me feel uncomfortable, so I often try to fill the silence with my own voice. This is what I need to Get more content on HelpWriting.net
