 Graduate from Stand-ford university.
 When she became the CEO of HP in 1999, Carly fiorina became
the first woman to lead a so large company.
Changes under Fiorina
 Fiorina traveled more 250,000 miles during her first year,
visiting HP facilities Worldwide and urging employees to setup
the pace.
 She went to overhauling the company’s structure, consolidating
operating units.

 She also engineered a new marketing campaign
featuring a simplified “hp” logo that dropped the
founder names.
 Overall, Fiorina work hard to modernize the HP’s
culture.
HP bought Compaq
 In 2002, HP was the second largest computer
maker in world, while Compaq was no four.
 HP bought Compaq was a poor decision.
Because:
 Computer market was already saturated and
ravaged by price war.
 Compaq was the company with low innovation to
generate new product.
Carly was perceived Fail
 The company profit did not increase since the
merger.
 A lot of people did not like her style of managing
people.
 Stock price was down.
 There was less innovation product to delivered.
 She cannot delivered her promise to the company.
 Negative effect on company performance
 Lower employee morale
What should she do
 Carly should adapt her leadership style, in order to start listen
other suggestion.
 Carly should focus on most profit line of product which hp
created(printers) instead of buying Compaq(PC).
