• PLEASE NOTE!
• Login Password For The 1st Time
• For all the first-year students, your password is the first 3
letters of your surname (with the 1st letter in capital) and the
last 5 digits of your ID or PASSPORT number.
• Example, if your surname is Smith, and your ID or PASSPORT
number is 8304285518088, then your password will be:
Smi18088
• If the above password does not work, then you must use the
first 3 letters of your surname (with the 1st letter in capital) and
the last 5 digits of your date of birth (dd-mm-yy)
• Example, if your surname is Smith, and your date of birth is
15-10-83, then your password will be: Smi51083
2. Printing
• To use the printer, you must tap your Student
card on the printer card reader (any printer). It
will ask you to register your card using your
username (student number) and NEW
PASSWORD.
• PLEASE NOTE: YOU HAVE TO PUT MONEY ON
YOUR CARD 1ST TO BE ABLE TO PRINT OR SCAN
• This gets done at the Cashiers On the 4th Floor
Admin Building D6 Campus.

3. Passwords
1. Password expires every 2 to 3 months. When
changing your password please note that it may
not contain any part of your name. You must use
letters , numbers and characters. The length of the
password must be at least 8 characters long.
2. Do not share your password.
• Wi-Fi . Student can use CPUT-USERS and
EDUROAM
17. Saving Your
Work
1. Please save your work on multiple devices where
possible. Create backups on Google Drive or One
drive
2. Please note that you will require your phone at all
times when using Microsoft Apps (Word,Excel etc.)
and Adobe Apps. This is because CPUT uses
authentication via your phone number. It is advised
that you also install the Microsoft Authentication
App. Upon logging in you will have 2 options on how
to receive your authentication code. It is either by
call or text. If you have bad signal you will have a
problem authenticating. Then the Authentication
App is advised if you have an Android or Apple
phone.
3. Your internet sessions are monitored by CTS so
please do not put yourself at risk by browsing or
downloading illegal items.
