To Whom It May Concern:
My name is Widji Utami Dewi and it is my sincere pleasure to write
this letter recommending Wahyu Ihdia for master degree purpose. Mr
Wahyu participated in develop Science and Technology curriculum and
teaching practice in Middle School Programme (MSP). It’s based on
International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Program (MYP) and
Kurikulum Tingkat Satuan Pendidikan (KTSP). He helped and
supported me to interpret IB-MYP curriculum in Science and
Technology which he has got from UWC (United World College)
Singapore during he took his Cambridge International Diploma for
Teachers and Teachers (CIDTT) there. Collaborating work in team
really helped me to formulate definite curriculum that we can possibly
apply in our school culture. Because of my close and various
associations with him, I feel qualified to comment on Mr. Wahyu’s
potential as a master degree scholarship candidate. Mr. Wahyu will
make a valuable addition during his study—he is an outstanding
candidate for master degree scholarship candidate.
Within the professional development school context, Mr. Wahyu had the
opportunity to work closely with me as partner teacher, school and
other interns to explore issues of teaching and learning for
understanding, and to consider connections between educational theory
and practice. As part of the secondary science methods course, Mr.
Wahyu collaborated with another intern to design and implement a
series of lessons aimed at helping students investigate concepts
associated with the principles of taxonomy—thrust in particular. The
development of his simple but scientifically attractive taxonomy unit
required extensive background research, as well as the comprehensive
assessment of students’ prior knowledge of the content. The learning
experiences he crafted included a variety of opportunities for students
to participate as young scientists (e.g., making predictions, gathering
and recording observations/data, and developing evidence-based
explanations).
He is also a pioneer in teacher training program at Al-Jabr Education
Center. Acting as a Trainer, he contributed to share his International
and National experience in teaching Science and Mathematics to local
teachers in and outside Jakarta. He developed an excellent team
working and come up to share new ideas in order to achieve a high
quality teacher training program. He also had extended and deepens
knowledge and concept how to design, create, and conduct a quality
training program.
In the context in which I have had the pleasure of working with Mr.
Wahyu, he has demonstrated his thoughtfulness, leadership skills,
collaborative abilities, and willingness to take risks, and genuine
compassion for students and their development. After evaluating his
work, observing his performance in class, and supervising his teaching,
I feel confident that Mr. Wahyu will make a significant contribution as
a primary and secondary educator.
I give him my highest recommendation for master degree scholarship
