Up Coming Events:
Dear Dr. Love,
My girl and I have been dating for one
month on Halloween. Do you have any
suggestions to make our Halloween date a real
success?
Signed,
Need a “Spooktacular” Date
Dear Need a “Spooktacular” Date,
Yes, Halloween can be a fun date. There is just
something about being scared that brings a
couple together. Here are a few of my own
memorable “goulish” dates:
1. Make costumes together – This can make for
an interesting date of “dumpster diving” to find
your costume needs! If you don't find what you
need, it won't be a total loss. You may find
something to give to her as a one month
anniversary gift.
2. Enter a costume contest – Many people like
to dress as “Famous Couples”. You know, like
'Romeo & Juliet' or 'Dumb & Dumber'. I like to
stray from the norm and go really wild. For
example, try going as 'Ketchup & Mustard',
'Foot & Shoe', or my favorite, 'Bacon & Eggs'.
3. Go Trick or Treating – You may want to
borrow someone's child to take so you can
pretend to be their parents, but take two extra
treat bags and say you have two more children
who had to stay home sick. Candy givers will
feel really bad and you get more candy out of it.
Works every time!
4. Go to a haunted house – This will give you a
perfect reason to reach out, grab her and pull
her really close, and even get a kiss or two.
There is one disadvantage to this. They keep
those haunted houses really, really dark, so just
be sure who you are kissing and what you are
grabbing! HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
Q: Who inspired you to be a teacher?
A: I just like influencing kids. I guess I
figured it out in college. I worked at
church camps and got to work with the
children there and felt the positive
impact I had on the kids.
Q: Tell us something random about
yourself.
A: I have 5 year-old triplets and my brother
has 4 year-old triplets.
Q: Where have you taught before you
came to West Rusk?
A: I previously taught at Winona and
Rains.
Q: What do you plan on doing on
Halloween this year?
A: Take my kids trick-or-treating, have
them get me some candy.
Unintentional ruination: the only
way to sum up the almost unfair
matchup that occurred friday night
between the West Rusk Raiders
and the Winona Wildcats. The
Raiders (8-0, 3-0) tried everything
to keep from completely
liquidating their opponents,
including resting the starters for the
majority of the game, playing less
aggressively, and even keeping the
clock running throughout the
second half. But all of their
attempts were for naught, as the
Wildcats (1-7, 1-2) displayed the
athletic prowess of a middle school
football team. Sam Carter set a
school record for field-goal
kicking, going for 9/9 on the night.
Chris Johnson continued to radiate
as his numbers continue to pile up.
Also noted, Chris Johnson has not
thrown a single interception the
entire season, as he is one of the
only quarterbacks on an undefeated
team in the state to do this. West
Rusk travels to Joaquin this Friday
hoping to roll on to 9-0, while
Winona hopes to prevent another
embarrassment this Friday against
Arp. West Rusk certainly didn't
disappoint on Homecoming this
year, and remain to bestow honor
upon our prosperous school.
