3. Letter from the Church Secretary
Dear all,
How the year is flying by and we have reached that time of year I love. β¨
Not too hot and not too cold.
To see the Autumn colours in the leaves; so beautiful. If all the trees were
conifers things wouldn't be as colourful. God's creation in all it's variety is just
amazing, His imagination and diversity, no person could match.
People also are a huge variety, not just race, creed and colour but likes and
dislikes, sizes and shapes. Each face different, quite mind blowing. God is
amazing in His handiwork. Let us enjoy God's immense creation, enjoying the
differences that make life more interesting. Let us praise our Almighty God,
and give thanks.
If you've not joined us for a Sunday service recently, then do come and join
us, we'd love to welcome you, at either the morning or the evening.
May God bless us, each and everyone of us.
With Christian love
Mavis

8. Women's Contact Coffee Morning
Due to the small number of people attending our monthly coffee
mornings we have decided to stop holding them. They were
started to raise money for crisis events happening in the world
and over the years we have been able to send donations to many
countries where help was needed.
Thank you to all those people who supported our coffee mornings we have
probably collected a few thousand pounds during the years we have held
them.
Barbara,
Written on behalf of The Contact Group
The Fairtrade Sunday Stall
We hold a fair trade stall after the morning service on the 2nd and 4th
Sunday of each month.
The stall will be held on the 13th and 27th of November.
Do pop by and check what we have for sale. There are some appetising
snacks, along with the usual food and non-food lines.
Please continue to support your stall.
Richard & Barbara.

Editor's Notes
Dear reader, here is another extract from βA Few Picked Gems.β
Richard Brown
----------------------------------------------------
βFrom the introduction .... to draw attention to John Oxenhamβs Poem
βPeace" .... changed by the Author's permission, into a prayer.
βIn my humble opinion this is the Prayer for the Peace of the World, and if the
peoples of all nations would so pray, and would breathe the spirit of it, War
might become a thing of the past amongst all civilised peoples.β β¨
(See Page 20)
βNearly two thousand years have passed since Christ came upon the earth,
with His message of Peace and Goodwill, and yet the Peace which springs
from goodwill and right understanding, we still so earnestly long for.
βPerhaps even through the present confusion we may cherish the hope that
we can see the dawning of a better day.β

16. Website of the month: -
They are responsible for Sand Sculptures, Ice Sculptures, Sand
Drawing, and Pumpkin Carving.
They also run workshops. Their website is well worth visiting, if
only for a visual feast of some of their projects.
ββββββββββββ-
We are concentrating on their The Fallen 9000 project.
Wording taken from the website follows: -
Peace Day and The Fallen Project
Andy Moss and (Jamie Wardley) from Sand In
Your Eye developed the idea of the Fallen
Project together to mark Peace Day. The
objective was to make a visual representation of
9000 people drawn in the sand which equates
the number of Civilians, Germans Forces and
Allies that died during the D-day landings, 6th
June during WWII as an example of what
happens in the absence of peace.
β¦.
On the day we had
60-70 confirmed
volunteers that had
travelled from around
the world to help.
We knew that this
was not enough to
complete the project
in the 4.5 hours that
we had so at 3pm
when we were about
to begin we were
overwhelmed by the
hundreds of people
that turned up to
help. β¦. The message of the Fallen is now travelling the globe, those people
that lost their lives are no longer with us but on Peace Day 21st September
2013 they spoke.
Thank you to all those people who helped give them their voice.

17. The way things once were
The food theme continues this year with recipes from the First World War.
Hopefully, a useful collection will develop throughout the year. The source of
the recipes is the "Win-the-war" cookery book.

Churches Together In Hayes
The CTIH quiz night on Saturday 22nd October was very well supported by the 4
churches as well as other church friends in the area.
The proceeds from the evening were donated to the
Queen Elizabeth Foundation for disabled people.
The amount raised was Β£511.00 in aid of the QEF
Bugzi appeal.
A Bugzi is a powered indoor wheelchair for children
aged one to six and offers a unique opportunity for
pre-school children with disabilities to experience
independent mobility, often for the first time in their
lives.
The money will either be put towards the
manufacture of a Bugzi, which costs Β£5,000 or be
used in the QEF loan scheme. The scheme enables
families who could not afford to buy a Bugzi to give
their child the independence they crave.
24. Final Thought
More Holiness Give Me
More holiness give me, more strivings within.
More patience in suffering, more sorrow for sin.
More faith in my Saviour, more sense of His care.
More joy in His service, more purpose in prayer.
More gratitude give me, more trust in the Lord.
More zeal for His glory, more hope in His Word.
More tears for His sorrows, more pain at His grief.
More meekness in trial, more praise for relief.
More purity give me, more strength to oβercome,
More freedom from earth-stains, more longings for home.
More fit for the kingdom, more useful Iβd be,
More blessèd and holy, more, Saviour, like Thee.
Philip P. Bliss (1838-1876
