Termamyl SC, a product from Novozymes, was approved for a 3-month trial period from March 1st to June 1st, 2013 to help reduce iodine levels in beer. The amount added would be less than 50g/ton of materials at the mash mixer. Facilities should aim to reach target iodine levels of below 0.25 for some brands and below 0.40 for others. After the trial period, facilities should report results and issues to the Technical Department. Starting in Q3 2013, iodine level will become the official quality standard for finished beer.
