Engineering Experience
Sumit Motors (Automotive Workshop (Part time)) 2009-2010
- Worked in team to restore 1200 CC 16 Valve Petrol Engines.
- Learnt Gas welding while welding small joints during denting and painting work.
- Servicing vehicles ranging from SUVs to small cars and bikes.
- Tested various vehicles after service by taking vehicles for test drives and to detected any noise or harshness.
- Test and look for other defects like cracks in the chassis or bearings.
- Enhanced my technical skills by working on range of machines.
- Learnt about the different mechanised processes involved.
Indian Technomac (Chrome Manufacturers) July 2010 to July 2011
- Worked as a trainee engineer under the supervision of chief engineer.
- Did maintenance on site on heavy-duty furnaces in which different metals and chemicals were mixed to manufacture
Chrome.
- Did maintenance work on Industrial boilers by changingtubes and replacingthem with new ones.
- Worked in a team to do maintenancework on an overhanging craneused to shiftheavy chrome from the furnaceto the
coolingstation.
2. TEREX Back Hoe Loader Entrance Design - Assigned a group project to design the entrance for Terex Back Hoe loader
tractor to make the entry for the drivers safe whilst operating in different conditions. Did research on different varieties of
tractors and entrance model designs. Created numerous rough engineering drawing sketches to aid the design. Formulated
the design using CATIA and solid mechanics skills. Did Product design specification for the product evaluating different
properties of the design. The group members sanctioned design. Learnt how to used CATIA V5 and CES software that is an
essential tool in modern day engineering.
RC Car - Assigned a group project to design, manufacture and test chassis of a remote control car. Designed and
manufactured and also tested the torsional stiffness of the chassis. Coordinated the final design of the car using CATIA and
assembled the car using manufacturing process called brazing. Tested the torsional stiffness using test rig. Managed to
finish the project in the given timeline. Lead the group to finish in the top 10 attaining 6.5 seconds on the 10-yard dash on
the event day. Learnt how to use soft skills like communication teamwork and time management. Used learning skills to
learn brazing and metal work
Bridge Build - Assigned a group task to build the lightest and the strongest bridge along with a buggy that will carry 1kg
mass across it. Came up with several concepts that led to the final design selection. Used problem-solving skills to devise
the best design and used the lightestmaterials available.Communication was key; it helped to coordinatevarious stages of
the process. The bridge manufactured weighed 16gms and could carry 6kg load before it started to buckle. Learnt how to
develop a concept in a given time frame and the use of logbook to refer back to the calculations made.
Career History
Subway (Weekend job) (2013 – Present) (Coventry)
- Developed communication skills by dealing with all types of customers face to face.
- Introduced team - work to manage the store and helping the store function uninterrupted.
- Used practical problem solving techniques in solving problems occurred during the shifts.
Shoogloo Online Marketing (2011-2012) (India)
- Working experience in Content writing for various websites and Blogs in the UK.
- Developed time management skills whilst working on various projects, this has proven that I can work under pressure to
consistently meet the deadlines.
- Expanded my knowledge about the business environment away from the engineering environment.
Activities and Volunteering
Football
Currently playing for Elim Pentecostal Church’s amateur Saturday league team Elim Eagles Football Club Based at War Memorial
Park Coventry. This exposure has helped me develop as team player and to work as part of the team and j oining with different
cultures at the same time. Played 65th Sanotsh Trophy for National football cup and represented my state Himachal Pradesh.
Debate and Quiz Team
Took partin debates duringschool and achieved first place. Represented my class quiz team in all school General Quiz competition
and wining it for my team.
Volunteering
- Also played a charity game for a charity called Zoe’s Hospice and raised £500.
- Arranged various blood donating camps at my hometown.
- Enrolled in a two week volunteering programme to educate villages in North India about AIDS. The aim of the programme
was to spread awareness of the fatal disease. It was concluded by going to villages and talking to the locals and help them
understand how to prevent disease to spread and what precautions to take to avoid the disease. It was to my surprise that
most of the people were unaware and were very obliged by the campaign.
Interests
Very enthusiastic about travelling and exploring and know various cultures, not just by reading but also visiting them. I have
travelled various places in India, UK and Europe that has transformed me over all as a mature and skilled individual.
