Yashvi Jain designed a reception table for a school as part of her 2nd year commercial design diploma program. She researched commercial design, product design, furniture design, school furniture, and reception tables. For her project, she designed a reception table for a school with a curved shape and glass cabinets to display trophies and literature. The table was developed based on a concept and used a color scheme to set a mood. Joints and materials were specified for the table. Her design was graded by the principal of her design college.

7. Commercial Design Refers To Interior Design In Commercial Spaces. These Include Offices,
Retail Stores, Restaurants, Lobbies And Other Public Spaces… Designers Then Work With
The Completed Space To Add Furniture And Décor To Meet The Original Design Goals.
Commercial Designers Know How To Space Plan Without Surrendering Design. They Are
Also Trained To Ensure The Everything Within The Physical Structure Is Safe And Up To
Code. They Are Heavily Involved In The Renovation And Construction Process, And Work
Closely With Contractors And Manufacturers To Make Important Structural Decisions
Including Architectural Details, Lighting. Floor And Ceiling Design, Window Placement
And Technological Upgrades. Commercial Designers Also Define The Project‘s Scope Of
Work, Draw Schematics And Blueprints, Select The Right Materials, And Oversee
Budgeting And Scheduling, Along With Other Important Duties.

9. PRODUCT DESIGN
Product Design Is To Create A New Product To Be Sold By A Business To Its Customers . A
Very Broad Coefficient And Effective Generation And Development Of Ideas Through A
Process That Leads To New Products . Thus , It Is A Major Aspect Of New Product
Development . Due To The Absence Of A Consensually Accepted Definition That Reflects
The Breadth Of The Topic Sufficiently , Two Discrete , Yet Interdependent , Definitions Are
Needed : One That Explicitly Defines Product Design A Reference To The Artefact , The
Other That Defines The Product Design Process In Relation To This Artifact .
Product Design Process : The Set Of Strategic And Tactical Activities , From Idea
Generation To Commercialization , Used To Create A Product Design . A Systematic
Approach , Product Designers Conceptualize And Evaluates Ideas , Turning Them Into
Tangible Inventions And Products . The Product Designer’s Role Is To Combine Art ,
Science , And Technology To Create New Products That People Can Use . Their Evolving
Role Has Been Facilitated By Digital Tools That Now Allow Designers To Do Things That
Include Communicate , Visualize , Analyse , 3D Modelling And Actually Produce Tangible
Ideas In A Way That Would Have Taken Greater Man Power In The Past . Product Design Is
Sometimes Confused With Industrial Design , And Has Recently Become A Broad Term
Inclusive Of Service , Software , And Physical Product Design . Industrial Design Is
Concerned With Bringing Artistic Form And Usability , Usually Associated With Craft
Design And Ergonomics , Together In Order To Mass – Produce Goods . Other Aspects Of
Product Design And Industrial Design Include Engineering Design , Particularly When
Matters Of Functionality Or Utility Are At Issue , Through Such Boundaries Are Not Always
Clear .
11. FURNITURE DESIGN
Furniture Design Is A Specialized Field Where Function And Fashion Collide . Many Interior
Designers Believe That Function Is One Of The Most Important Aspects Of An Interior
Space . Pieces Of Furniture Not Only Add Function And Practically To A Space, But They
Also Add Style And Personality .
Furniture Has Evolved And Changed With The Times , And Some Styles Have Remained
Somewhat Constant Throughout The Years , While Others Have Drastically Changed Or
Become Obsolete . Today , Creating New Furniture Styles Is Often Seen As A Type Of
Industrial Art Form .
A Furniture Designers Is A Professional That Designs And Creates Different Types Of
Furniture. Each Piece Of Furniture That A Furniture Designer Creates Must Serve A Few
Different Purposes . First Of All , It Must Also Be Practical , Comfortable , And Attractive .
Every New Furniture Design Starts With A Basic Concept , Or Idea . A Furniture Designer
Then Creates A Drawing Of This Idea Using Traditional And Modern Methods . They Will
Often Sketch Their Designs On Paper First , For Instance . Computer Software Can Then Be
Used To Create A More Intricate And Detailed Design .
13. SCHOOL FURNITURE
School Furniture Should Arise In Multidisciplinary Teams Composed Of Orthopaedic
Doctors , Rehabilitation Experts , Teachers , Psychologists , Constructors , Technologists ,
Environmentalists , Economists And Of Course Designers . Diversity In Designing Should ,
Therefore , Take Into Account And Promote Solutions That Not Only Improve The Figure ,
But Also Ensure Freedom And Mobility Of Both Children And Furniture .
In School Children , There Is A Conflict Between The Natural Tendency To Unrestricted
Physical Movement And The Need To Maintain A Seated Position For A Longer Period Of
Time. Headache , Knee Pain , Back Pain , And Attention Deficit Are Among The Most
Common Adverse Effects Of Prolonged Sitting . In Order To Reduce These Negative Effects
, Education Programmes In Schools Contain Many Forms Of Physical Activation For
Students . The Actions Undertaken In This Area Only Minimise The Effects Of Erroneous
Furniture Design . In Order To Completely Solve Problems Connected With The
Functionality Of School Furniture , More Effort Should Be Put Into Creating Innovative
Rules Of Furniture Design . More Attention Must Be Devoted To The Proper , Ergonomic
Design Of School Furniture .

Developed And Designed Based On A Concept Or A Theme Colour Scheme Must Be Used
As Per The Mood Taken And Material Application . Along With Joints Furniture Must Be
Specified .
18. CASE STUDY ANALYSIS
CASE FURNITURE :
Case furniture is the goods of a volume structure , in which the surface elements limit and
close a given space . Among the large group of elements of a case furniture piece , we
distinguish :
The main element , without which the furniture piece loses its functional nature and
the construction becomes a mechanism
A supplemental element , without which the construction can be maintained , but the
furniture piece does not perform the intended functions and
Compensation element , without which the function and the construction can be
preserved ; however , its use significantly improves the stiffness , strength , durability
and reliability .
