10th Century – Trade of fish started between Bharuch

due to Hindu-Muslim riots
1225 AD – Arabs from Kufa came to Rander for trade.

In 1511 – Malek Gopi arrived from the Mughal’s

 DISTRICT JUDGE WAS HANDLING THE ADMINISTRATION IN 1846 TO MAINTAIN HEALTH
AND HYGEINCE AND COLLECTING THE REVENUE.
• IN 1850, GOVT. ENACTED AN MUNICIPAL COMMITTEE CONSTITUED OF OFFICERS AND
CITIZENS FOR DEVELOPMENT OF CITY.
 ON 23RD APRIL , 1852 MUNICIPAL OFFICE CAME INTO EXISTENCE , WHICH AT INITIAL
STAGE STARTED WORKING AT NANPURA POST OFFICE .
 ON 1ST OCT 1966 THE MUNIPALITY CHANGED IN TO THE MUNICIPAL CORPORATION DUE
TO POPULATION INCREASED TO 1,19,000.

• In 1852 Surat municipality was established but there was no provision of public water supply at that
time. Later in 1864 Sir Kawasji Jahangir of Surat had donated Rs.1.25 Lacs to construct a water
works for the city and plan to draw water from river Tapi.

Surat is an Indian port city.
Hazira Port or Surat Port, is a deep-
water LNG terminal and multi-cargo deep-water
port about 20 miles southwest of Surat.
The Port of Magdalla is a port in western India,
located on the southern bank of the Tapi River,
around 10 km from Surat.

From 2004 to July 2005- Air Deccan operated an ATR 42
aircraft daily .
2007- Indian Airlines Airbus A319 flight to Delhi flagged off
by Indian Civil Aviation Minister.
2009-the new Surat airport terminal building was
inaugurated.
