Vmock is an incredible tool. It gives you on-the-spot analytics and feedback of your resume. It gives you line-by-line feedback, wording suggestions, and scores of how your resume fits in with the expected MM resume standard. VMock is MUCH more sophisticated than a resume spell checker and it’s quite a powerful tool.
How many folks have already tried using VMock?
We provide a template in the Resume Toolkit to be used so you can get the best feedback on different formatting changes to be made.
How it works:
We’ve created our expected Sauder resume standards that Bcoms should be using as standard resume formats. We’ve sent in hundreds of general Bcomresumes, and VMock has created a scoring algorithm based on the benchmark weighed against the resumes we’ve submitted.
From BCom Marcomms:
The VMock platform uses an algorithm to instantly assess your resume’s impact, presentation, and content. VMock lets you: 1. Get immediate feedback, anywhere and anytime. 2. Strengthen your accomplishment statements to make them more effective. 3. Analyze your core competencies to see how you can add more of your skills to your resume. 4. Understand where you are in relation to UBC Sauder resume standards. All UBC MM Students have access to VMock for up to 10 resume uploads each academic year. All you need to do is log in with your CWL

Go to vmock.com/sauder. You’ll use your CWL and password to login.
Use Mozilla and IE if chrome doesn’t work!
Note on legal, privacy – etc. :
Servers are hosted in the US – we recommend changing your contact info on your resumes as the data storage and protection is governed by another jurisdiction and data security standards may be a bit different. So, relatedly, using the platform is optional but highly encouraged. What I usually do is change all of my personal info on my resume as you’ll see shortly before uploading to external platforms like VMock.
DEMO!
Using my own resume. Fitting because I thought my resume looks good (show example)
highlight: system summary, bullet by bullet feedback, analytics, customer support
Impact: accomplishment statements – arguably, the most powerful element of VMock as the other items you can tweak on your own (formatting, etc). This is the hardest part of resume crafting, I find…
competencies: it can actually measure your soft skills in your resume, and this is why it’s such a powerful tool!
Presentation – may take some fiddling and it can be buggy, so use the PDF converter
Highly recommend giving each other feedback on resumes + asking for feedback from your networks! It’s simple – just add in an email address and give the person a heads up you’re asking them to help you out with a deadline…

ability to communicate you are a good fit
You are answering three different questions……
Another way to integrate your material is to see if you have answered the following questions.
Organization: Values / knowledge of what the company does Position or Work: what drives you to do the work you will be doing
HOW DO YOU GET MORE IN DEPTH INFORAMATION than just from the internet????
You: NOT a direct repeat of your resume accomplishment statements BUT
Be authentic – Be approachable and personal
Use industry vocabulary/Jargon
If you can simply replace the name of the company for another in a descriptive sentence then you are not being specific enough!!
“I’m extremely passionate about the potential to work with a well-respected company like BDO.”
“I’m extremely passionate about the potential to work with a well-respected company like O2E Brands.”
4) Start with a hook to make your CL more personal – does it answer Why the position /Why the company
5) Relax
6) Focus on your strengths
