CHALLENGE – Safely Run Casing to Planned Depth
• Client required a system that can get the casing
string to planned depth. Safely.
• String previously ran by another company with
conventional equipment but couldn’t get to
planned TD.
• String was subsequently pulled out of hole.
AOSOrwell CTR was mobilized to re-run the string.
• The tool of choice: Volant CRTi which is mobile/light
weight. Planned depth of 10,480 feet (3,194
Meters) at inclination of 75.51°
JOB PROCEDURE / EXECUTION
• Casing was run with the Volant CRTi
• Applied torque was monitored real-time
using a combination of the WeCatt Wireless
Torque Sub and the Wincatt Torque/Turn
Monitoring Unit
RESULTS PRODUCED FOR CUSTOMER
• Successfully ran mixed string of 9 ⅝” & 10 ¾” VAM
Top casing to the planned depth without any Quality
or HSE related incidents.
• Casing string passed the mandatory pressure tests
carried out at bottom (the well is planned as a gas
producer therefore sealing was one of the objectives
of the run).
• Client was very satisfied with results of the run -
eliminating the 8 ½” hole section contingency and re-
planning the completions phase.
• This potentially saved the client upwards of $1million
TOOL OVERVIEW
• AOSOrwell has run over 189,000 Feet of casing in-
country with the Volant CRTi.
• It is a mechanically activated internal grip top drive
casing running system.
• Hoisting rating: 420 Tons & Pressure rating: 5,000 psi.
