2. Every monday, Zahira wakes at dawn and leaves the Imlil Valley village in the heart of the
Atlas mountains to go to Asni’s Education, which is more than 22 kilometres away. Zahira
must cross peaks and valleys, often in extreme conditions. After a long walk by herself she
meets up with her two friends Zineb and Noura who live in another valley.

4. They always worry about finding transportation once they have reached the highway because there
are not many drivers who are prepared to take girls on board.In these remote villages, education
does not rank high on their list of priorities, especially for girls. Even today, most fathers do not wish
their daughters to go to school.

The teachers and students from the School Nº11, located in Tigre, travel by boat
6 hours, in order to get to their school.
12. Jujuy
In the north of the country, Guillermo Duarte, a teacher, walks more than 14 hours through
the mountains to arrive at a small school located in Cerro de Tilcara.
David and Juana, who live in the Puna at 4000 meters high, walk 8 km to the closest
school in Cerro Blanco.
13. Misiones
The teachers and students from rural schools in Misiones go through the same situation
everyday, leaving their homes at 4 in the morning and returning at 11pm.
