2. Through my research I have found that sans
serif font as it suits my target audience of
males, as it is bold with sharply cut edges in
comparison to if I was to use serif, which is
more feminine due to it consisting of curves. I
have also gathered that having my fonts in
uppercase letters and bold makes it more
masculine.
3. Through my research I have gathered that the darker
shades and colours are more applicable to my male
target audience as published magazines such as
“Vibe” have included predominantly dark colours such
as black for there cover pages with white text.
Therefore I will include darker colours such as black,
and a dark shade of red, followed by a bright white to
contrast the text with the background. I will also make
sure I only use 3 colours in order to follow the theorist
Flavilla Fongang who suggested that this helps keep
colour schemes simple and no too over-whelming.
4. The main conventions I will have to include
I have gathered from my research on
published magazines. These conventions
are a masthead, hook, skyline, barcode,
button, and a date and issue number.
These conventions are necessary in order
to make sure my magazine has a
professional appearance.
5. I will use these findings to better my
magazine, in terms of giving it a
conventional and professional appearance.
These findings have also bettered my
understanding and knowledge of the
production and distribution of magazines.
