15. Custom Dashboard: Executive
This is a custom dashboard we have for our executive leadership. It provides a high level view of our resources by
tier. You will see the production physical resources on the left, the production virtual infrastructure in the center,
and the QA infrastructure on the right. The bottom badges give a geographic reference to the same resources
16. Custom Dashboard: Service Center
This is another custom dashboard that provides the active alerts in the environment for our service center
technicians to proactively monitor and address. The top pane is for production and QA resources which have the
highest SLA’s. The the bottom pane shows the active alerts that are present in the Development and Test
environments. Very simple ,yet easy to see what the active alerts are and to prioritize and assign them accordingly.
17. Custom Dashboard: Engineering
This is the most useful dashboard we have, it flows from left to right and top to bottom. In the top left pane you enter the
resource in need of investigation or troubleshooting, then below on the left pane you select the specific metrics in question which
then opens those badges in the center pane for correlation. Here you can generate another dash and share it with the app owner,
server owner, or other stakeholders. On the right are the resource relationships and downhill effects of this resource anomaly
18. Benefits Gained & Lessons Learned
RESOURCE OPTIMIZATION
• RESOURCE TUNING
• CLUSTER RE-ARCHITECTURE
• STANDARDIZATION AND OPTIMIZATION
• CHASSIS INFRASTRUCTURE
ADJUSTMENTS
FUTURE PLANS
• ENHANCED REPORTING
• MANAGED SERVICES MODEL
• DYNAMIC THRESHOLD INTEGRATION-
CURRENTLY TRENDING NOT ALERTING
• FURTHER INTEGRATION OF
ORCHESTRATED WORKFLOWS
• CONTINUED SERVICE CATALOG
OFFERINGS ( CAPACITY & DEPENDENCY
MAPPINGS )
INCREASED MANAGEABILITY
• INCIDENT REDUCTION AND IMPROVED
TIMES TO REMEDIATION
• CENTRALIZED MANAGEMENT OF
SYSTEMS
• ENHANCED ENVIRONMENT VISIBILITY,
TRENDING, AND HEALTH STATUS -
VCOPS
LESSONS LEARNED
• DEPENDENCY ON DATA FEED
QUALITY
• FEEDING DATA FROM VC OPS INTO
OTHER SYSTEMS IS LIMITED
• EMAIL FILTER RULES REQUIRE COMPLEX
CONFIGURATION FOR ALERT DELIVERY
AND CONTENT
• API NEEDS FURTHER DEVELOPMENT
• NEED TO HAVE WELL DEFINED SLA’S,
TIERS, AND RESOURCE REQUIREMENTS
