3. Introduction

6. Roster
● Once a member has played (or checked in) with another team they cannot
switch
● 5 total on “field”
○ 4 plus goalie
● Minimum of 4 to start
● Co-Rec: 2/2- goalie any gender
● ONLY 2 CLUB SOCCER MEMBERS ON A ROSTER
8. Substitutions
● Subs are made on the fly
● Unlimited number of subs as long as the player being replaced gets to the
bench before sub runs on
○ 2 Minute – Illegal Substitution Penalty
● Goalies can only be subbed for during dead balls
○ Must notify officials before making the substitution
9. Timing
● 2 – 18 minute halves
○ Halftime: 3 minute max
● 1 timeouts per half, 30 seconds long
○ Timeouts do not carry over
10. Overtime
● Tied after regulation:
○ Each team alternates taking four (two men/2women) penalty shots
■ The people on the court at the end of regulation must take penalty shots.
■ Both teams at the same goal will take penalty shots.
■ If after four penalty shots the game is still tied, one penalty kick will be taken on an alternating
basis until an advantage is achieved.
■ A different individual must take each penalty shot in a shootout.
11. Overtime- shooters
● A shooter has ten (10) seconds to shoot the ball after the official puts it in
play. No faking will be allowed.
● Once the shooter starts a motion towards the ball, a shot must be
attempted.
● The goalie can move laterally before the ball is kicked but not forwards or
backwards.
12. Start of Play
● Rock, Paper, Scissors to determine who gets first kick and side
● Team that is kicking off- 2 players inside the circle
○ Defending team cannot have anyone inside of circle.
● Ball must travel 1 full rotation before it can be touched by another player.
○ 1st player to touch the ball cannot touch it again until someone else has.
○ Ball cannot go directly backwards on a kick-off.
○ No goals can be scored directly off of a kick off.
● Kick-off will occur after any goal or the start of a new half.
13. Boundaries
● Out of play when it has completely gone into the bench area of the teams.
● The ball is in play:
○ rebounds from a goal post or crossbar into the court
○ If the ball rebounds from an official when he/she is on the court, it is still in play
○ Rebounds off the side walls
● If the ball hits the rafters above the court without deflection, the player will
be issued a delay of game penalty
○ if the penalty is against the goalie it will be served by a designated player
● Goalies are not allowed to punt the ball
14. Drop Ball
● Anytime a ball is deflected and it is not clear, on who it went out on.
● Procedure:
○ 1 player from each team will stand across from each other
○ The official will drop the ball in between them
○ After the ball hits the ground, the player will kick the ball, whoever gains possession keeps
the ball
15. Scoring
A goal is scored when the whole ball has passed over the ENTIRE goal line,
between the goal posts and under the crossbar. It is the position of the ball; not
the position of the goalkeeper, that determines whether a goal is scored. All
goals worth 1 point. Penalty shots, no matter the gender are worth 1 point.
Anytime that the defensive team (non-goalie) deliberately uses their hands or
arms to stop a ball from going in, a goal will be counted.
16. Mercy Rules
If a team is ahead by 10 points anytime in the second half.
17. Free Kicks
● Taking a direct or indirect free kick, all opposing players shall remain at least
ten feet away until the ball is kicked.
○ The officials will not step off, but will instruct the defender to move further if he/she
considers the defender too close.
■ (Penalty for delay of game-2 minutes)
18. ● Any play which results in an indirect kick that occurs in the penalty box will
result in an indirect free kick from the penalty line.
● A team will receive an indirect kick for:
○ All non-severe penalties (2 mins)
○ Illegal Substitutions
○ Delay of Game
○ Any stoppage of play that does not result in a drop ball
○ Any penalty that does not result in a direct kick
Indirect Free Kicks
19. Direct Free Kicks
● All direct free kicks awarded in the penalty area against the defending team,
are given as penalty kicks.
● A direct free kick will be given for the following:
○ Kicking a ball in possession by the goalkeeper
○ Handling of the ball
○ Dangerous plays:
■ raising the foot to the level (above the waist) that may endanger an opponent in a
normal stance
■ hitching or double kicking
■ lowering the head to a position level with/below the waist to head the ball
■ Covering the ball while sitting, kneeling or lying on the court (excluding goal keepers)
■ Playing the ball while sitting, kneeling or lying on the court.
○ Any 5 minute penalties (including severe push, kick, trip, or striking)
20. Wall Play
● Watch for prolonged contact on wall
● A dangerous charge along the wall (boarding) will result in an automatic
caution
○ 5 minute penalty
● Can’t use wall for leverage
○ Can't use wall to gain any advantage
● Used for fun atmosphere, safety concerns
○ “Off the wall”
21. Violations
● Three-Line Violation
○ No players can pass the ball over any three lines without being touched
by another player
■ Indirect Kick for a violation
■ Not enforced when the ball is kicked from a line during a free kick
○ Exception:
■ Any team that is short handed can pass the ball 2 lines if the ball
touches the ground

24. What warrants a PK?
● Penalty kicks are awarded for infringement of the rules by the defending
team within the penalty area
○ penalized by a direct free kick
● A penalty kick can be awarded no matter of where the ball is positioned
○ if the penalty is committed within the penalty area.
25. Procedures for PKs
● The kick is taken from any place on the marked X.
● All players must be outside of the penalty area & 10 feet from the ball
○ except goalie and kicker
● Goalkeeper must stand with both feet on the line until the ball is kicked
○ The goalie can move laterally before the ball is kicked
● The kicker may not play the ball a 2nd time until touched by another player.
● All PKs are worth 1 point
● If a team receives five, 2-minute penalties in ONE-half
○ result in a penalty kick
26. PK Rule Infringements
● Offense infringes:
○ retaken if a goal was scored.
○ No goal was scored, an indirect kick will be awarded to the defensive team
● Defense infringes:
○ Retaken if a goal was not scored
○ Goal was scored, the goal stands.
27. Goalie
● 5 seconds to release the ball
○ Indirect if they hold the ball for longer than 5 seconds
● A goalkeeper may:
○ catch, carry, strike or propel the ball with the hands or arms;
○ not be charged, interfered with or impeded in any manner by an opponent while in
possession of the ball.
■ Penalty-2 min. minor for interference.
○ Not be ran into or knocked down. *Penalty- 2 min. minor for charging
○ Slide to make a save if some portion of the goalie’s body remains in the box. If contact is
made by a goalie on a slide outside the penalty area, the goalie will be penalized as if a floor
player.
● If the goalie is outside of the box they are the treated the same as all other
floor players
28. Penalties
● A player shall be penalized two or five minutes for the following intentional infractions (based on
the severity of the act):
○ Kicking an opponent; 2 min.
○ Jumping at an opponent; 2 min.
○ Tripping an opponent; 2 or 5 min.
○ Tripping an opponent who is on a breakaway; 5mins & penalty kick
○ Handling the ball; 2 min.
○ Holding an opponent; 2 min.
○ Pushing an opponent; 2 or 5 min.
○ Fouling a goalkeeper; 2 or 5 min.
○ Hitting the rafters; 2 min.
○ Delay of game; 2 min.
○ Illegal substitution; 2 min.
○ Slide tackling; 2 or 5 min. (automatic penalty)
○ Dangerous play; 2 or 5 min. (automatic ejection could occur)
29. Misconduct
5-minute majors shall be issued for the following:
Persistently infringing upon any rules of the game.
Dissent by word of mouth or action to decisions by the referee.
Unsportsmanlike behavior.
Players will be ejected (10 min. misconduct) from the game for:
Violent conduct or serious foul play.
Fighting.
Foul or abusive language.
Persisting in misconduct after receiving a caution.
Violent or dangerously charging; two or 5 min.
30. Sportsmanship
● Rankings (2nd right after record)
● Warnings result in 1 sportsmanship point
lost
● Technical fouls result in loss of 2
sportsmanship points
● Need a 3.0 to make playoffs
● In playoffs, need a 3.0 throughout
● 2 yellow cards= ejection
● 1 red= ejection
● 2 reds or 3 yellows= team forfeit
● If team does not show up, your team
receives a 0 for sportsmanship
