KICKOFF
The Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M open Lone Star
Conference play at home on Friday, Sept. 27, against rival
Eastern New Mexico. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at The
Pitch.
A LOOK AT THE LADY BUFFS
The Lady Buffs finished the non-conference portion of
their schedule 1-3-0 after falling 1-0 to Oklahoma Baptist on
Saturday in Shawnee, Okla.
Thee different Lady Buffs have scored a goal this season
including All-American Hannah Kelley-Lusk. The junior scored
the first goal of the season for WT in their 2-0 victory over
CSU-Pueblo. Ashley Silvester also got on the scoring sheet
against the ThunderWolves when she bent her corner just
inside the near post. Mackenzie Taylor scored her fourth
career goal on a penalty kick in the Lady Buffs only home
game of the season against Adams State.
Defensively, WT is led by junior Cheyenne Orozco and
sophomore Emily Avila. Orozco, the 2018 LSC Defensive
Player of the Year, played all 90 minutes against OBU after
missing time earlier in the season due to injury picked up
against UC-Colorado Springs. Avila has also played well at the
back and is a constant threat from free kicks.
WT has used two different goalkeepers through four games
where they have allowed six goals. Natasha Worm started the
opening three games for the Lady Buffs where the El Paso,
Texas native kept a clean sheet in her collegiate debut against
CSUP. Daniela Estrada made her first start on Saturday
making 11 saves against OBU, which is the ninth-most in a
single game in program history.
A LOOK AT EASTERN NEW MEXICO
Second-year head coach Joshua Smith has the Greyhounds
off to their best start in program history at 3-0-1 including
three straight wins to open the season. Last season, Smith
led ENMU to its first LSC Tournament Final in the program’s
16-year history.
Offensively, the Greyhounds are averaging 1.3 goals per game
on 18.3 shots for a shot percentage of .068. Desiree Morgas
is the leading goal scorer for the Greyhounds with two goals
and an assist for a total of five points. The redshirt sophomore
from El Paso, Texas scored in back-to-back wins over Adams
State and Fort Lewis. Kierra Diaz (sister of junio Jessica Diaz),
Hayden Zuniga and Keyara Zuniga have also scored goals
for ENMU.
ENMU is the only team in the conference that has not allowed
a goal this season. Junior goalkeeper Whitney Dockweiler has
made 15 saves including a season-high seven against FLC at
Greyhound Stadium.
THE SERIES
WT leads the all-time 16-7-3 including dating back to their first-
ever meeting on Oct. 12, 2003 in Portales, N.M. Prior to losing
in overtime in their previous meeting, the Lady Buffs had gone
eight games unbeaten against the Greyhounds.
LAST TIME AGAINST THE GREYHOUNDS
The Lady Buffs and Eastern New Mexico last met in the Lone
Star Conference Semifinals last year with ENMU winning
in overtime on a golden goal from Julia Tucker in the 93rd
minute.
The Lady Buffs outshot ENMU, 24-10, with both teams
putting five shots on-target. WT had two scoring chances in
the opening 15 minutes with Jessica Diaz’s shot from eight
yards out saved in the 2nd minute followed by a shot off the
crossbar 13 minutes later.

2019 LADY BUFF SOCCER MATCH NOTES
LOOKING FOR SOME OFFENSE
The Lady Buffs three goals through the opening four games
is their lowest total since 2016. After scoring two goals in
the season opener against CSUP, WT has now scored a
goal in the run of play as their goal against ASU was from
the penalty shot.
RECORD WATCH
Taylor played 84 minutes against OBU over the weekend
taking her career total to 5,244, moving her up to sixth
all-time. The senior is just 256 minutes played away from
becoming one of four Lady Buffs to have played in more
5,500 minutes.
With her three shots against the Bison on Saturday,
Kelley-Lusk now has 110 for her career leaving her two shy
of making the Top 10 in that category. It is likely that she
will pass Jessica Rodriguez (2000-02) on Friday as the
Farmington, N.M. native is averaging more than four shots a
game this season.
Senior Marlene van Mourik’s 13 career assists are the 10th
most in program history. She has recorded at least three
assists in every season at WT including a career-high seven
as a sophomore in 2017.
Estrada’s 11 saves on Saturday are the ninth-most in
program history. She is also one of seven goalkeepers in
program history to make 11 or more saves in a single game.
9 WINS AWAY FROM THE CENTURY MARK
10th year head coach Chad Webb is nine wins short of
becoming the second head coach in program history to win
100 games. The former Buff standout is 91-73-20 during his
tenure including four straight seasons with 10-plus wins and
back-to-back NCAA appearances. Friday’s contest will be
his 185th match since taking over the program in 2010.
LSC PRESEASON POLL
The Lady Buffs were picked to finish first in the Lone Star
Conference Women’s Soccer Preseason Poll for the second
straight year receiving 18 first-place votes. Newcomers
Dallas Baptist were picked second followed by St. Edward’s
in third, Angelo in fourth and Texas A&M-Commerce in fifth.
Kelley-Lusk was named the Preseason Offensive Player
of the Year with DBU’s Maggie Scales and SEU’s Annabel
Sweeney were named the defensive and goalkeeper of the
year respectively.

		 At WT (10th Season) 91-73-20 (.549)
Chad Webb enters his 10th season at the helm of the Lady Buff soccer team after being introduced as the second head women’s
soccer coach in program history on January 13, 2010 as the duties of men’s and women’s head coach were split due to the success
of both programs. Webb was previously an assistant to Butch Lauffer for 14 seasons, after a tremendous four-year career as a Buffalo
in the mid 90’s.
WT had one of its best years in program history in 2018 under Webb as they won the program’s eighth Lone Star Conference regular
season title along with winning their first South Central Regional Championship since 2009. The Lady Buffs went 14 games unbeaten,
a program record, en route to finishing 15-4-3, 10-1-1 in LSC play, earning the No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament. After deafeating
UC-Colorado Springs in penalites in the regional semifnals, WT defeated DBU on penalties (5-4) a week later in Canyon for their first
regional title in close to a decade. Hannah Kelley-Lusk earned United Soccer Coaches Third Team All-American Honors after scoring
nine goals, including four game-winners, to go along with her team-high six assists. Cheyenne Orozco was named the Lone Star
Conference Defensive Player of the Year after anchoring a defense that allowed 0.86 goals per game.
In 2017, WT returned to the NCAA postseason after winning the Lone Star Conference Tournament over top-seeded Angelo State
in San Angelo. They would defeat the Rambelles a week later in the opening round of the NCAA tournament before falling to No. 2
seed UC-Colorado Springs in the semifinals.
The Lady Buffs won their second regular season Lone Star Conference title in 2016 in program history sharing the honors with Texas
A&M-Commerce. Under Webb’s guidance, WT finished with a 11-6-0 record, 9-3-0 in LSC play, including a eight match winning streak.
The 11 wins are the second most during his tenure. He was named LSC Coach of the Year for the second time while senior midfielder
Karyn Forbes was named Midfielder of the Year.
WT finished the 2015 campaign with a record of 10-10-1 leading the team to their second LSC Championship match in the past three
seasons. They defeated two top-25 teams during the season incluindga 1-0 triump over #4 Angelo State in the LSC semifinals. Webb
earned his 50th career victory during the 2015 season with a 2-0 victory over Lubbock Christian on Oct. 28, 2016.
In the fall of 2014, the Lady Buffs finished the year with a 7-11 mark overall. The year prior, going into the final weekend of the
regular season in 2013, Webb led the Lady Buffs to two big Lone Star Conference wins to make the LSC Tournament as the #4
seed. WT opened up the tournament with a 1-0 victory over the host, #1 seed Angelo State, before falling to Midwestern State in the
Championship game in PKs.
Webb guided the Lady Buffs to an outstanding season in 2012 as the team went 13-7-1, winning both the regular season and
conference tournament championships en route to the NCAA Tournament for the first time under Webb and first since 2009.
Following the season, Webb was named LSC Coach of the Year and Panhandle Sports Soccer Coach of the Year.
The 2011 campaign saw the Lady Buffs fight through numerous season ending injuries to make their 14th appearance in the LSC
Tournament as the #6 seed. WT topped Eastern New Mexico in the Quarterfinals before falling to Midwestern State in OT to end
their season with a 9-10-1 overall record.
2010 saw the Lady Buffs register an 8-7-3 overall record and finish seventh in the LSC standings with a 4-6-1 mark, missing the
conference tournament by one spot.
Before taking control of the Lady Buffs in 2010, Webb had been an assistant coach with the women’s soccer program for 13 seasons,
where his main responsibilities revolved around the everyday operations and coaching of the program. He handled the bulk of the
recruiting duties for the Lady Buffs, while also assisting with the Buffalo men’s team, as well.
The Lady Buffs enjoyed a very successful 2009 campaign, as they advanced to the Elite Eight for the first time in school history and
recorded a 15-3-4 overall record. WT hosted both the LSC Tournament and NCAA Preliminary Rounds for the second consecutive
season and won its second-consecutive LSC regular-season championship, as well as winning the NCAA South Central Region
Championship.
The Lady Buffs have won either the LSC regular-season or LSC Tournament title nine times since 1997. They won both titles in
2001 and 2008. And, during 2001, the Lady Buffs made their first-ever NCAA Division-II National Tournament appearance. WT has
won a conference leading six LSC Tournament Championships and made 17 appearances in the single elimination field with 12
appearances in the finals.
Following a brilliant four-year playing career with the Buffs, Webb served one season as a student assistant under Butch Lauffer
before serving another four seasons as a graduate assistant. During his playing career with the Buffaloes, from 1992-1995, Webb
scored 10 goals and provided 20 assists while also serving as the Buffs’ captain. As a junior, he earned a berth on the second-team
Adidas all-West Region Academic list.
Webb, a native of Lubbock, Texas, holds a USSF “A” license, has been active in the community as the Director of Coaching for
Amarillo Lightning and enjoys developing youth soccer talent in the Texas Panhandle. He conducts many soccer camps and clinics
throughout the area each year, and, in 2002, was named Coach of the Year for the North Texas State Soccer Association.
He earned both his bachelor’s (1998) and master’s (2002) degrees in Mass Communication from WTAMU.
Webb lives in Amarillo with his wife, Joy, their two children, Autumn and Samuel, along with their many dogs.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at The Pitch. A LOOK AT THE LADY BUFFS The Lady Buffs finished the non-conference portion of their schedule 1-3-0 after falling 1-0 to Oklahoma Baptist on Saturday in Shawnee, Okla. Thee different Lady Buffs have scored a goal this season including All-American Hannah Kelley-Lusk. The junior scored the first goal of the season for WT in their 2-0 victory over CSU-Pueblo. Ashley Silvester also got on the scoring sheet against the ThunderWolves when she bent her corner just inside the near post. Mackenzie Taylor scored her fourth career goal on a penalty kick in the Lady Buffs only home game of the season against Adams State. Defensively, WT is led by junior Cheyenne Orozco and sophomore Emily Avila. Orozco, the 2018 LSC Defensive Player of the Year, played all 90 minutes against OBU after missing time earlier in the season due to injury picked up against UC-Colorado Springs. Avila has also played well at the back and is a constant threat from free kicks. WT has used two different goalkeepers through four games where they have allowed six goals. Natasha Worm started the opening three games for the Lady Buffs where the El Paso, Texas native kept a clean sheet in her collegiate debut against CSUP. Daniela Estrada made her first start on Saturday making 11 saves against OBU, which is the ninth-most in a single game in program history. A LOOK AT EASTERN NEW MEXICO Second-year head coach Joshua Smith has the Greyhounds off to their best start in program history at 3-0-1 including three straight wins to open the season. Last season, Smith led ENMU to its first LSC Tournament Final in the program’s 16-year history. Offensively, the Greyhounds are averaging 1.3 goals per game on 18.3 shots for a shot percentage of .068. Desiree Morgas is the leading goal scorer for the Greyhounds with two goals and an assist for a total of five points. The redshirt sophomore from El Paso, Texas scored in back-to-back wins over Adams State and Fort Lewis. Kierra Diaz (sister of junio Jessica Diaz), Hayden Zuniga and Keyara Zuniga have also scored goals for ENMU. ENMU is the only team in the conference that has not allowed a goal this season. Junior goalkeeper Whitney Dockweiler has made 15 saves including a season-high seven against FLC at Greyhound Stadium. THE SERIES WT leads the all-time 16-7-3 including dating back to their first- ever meeting on Oct. 12, 2003 in Portales, N.M. Prior to losing in overtime in their previous meeting, the Lady Buffs had gone eight games unbeaten against the Greyhounds. LAST TIME AGAINST THE GREYHOUNDS The Lady Buffs and Eastern New Mexico last met in the Lone Star Conference Semifinals last year with ENMU winning in overtime on a golden goal from Julia Tucker in the 93rd minute. The Lady Buffs outshot ENMU, 24-10, with both teams putting five shots on-target. WT had two scoring chances in the opening 15 minutes with Jessica Diaz’s shot from eight yards out saved in the 2nd minute followed by a shot off the crossbar 13 minutes later. LIVE COVERAGE Live stats and webstream will be provided by WT Athletic Communications for Friday’s contest. For more information, visit the Women’s Soccer Schedule Page at GoBuffsGo.com. • 2. 2019 LADY BUFF SOCCER MATCH NOTES LOOKING FOR SOME OFFENSE The Lady Buffs three goals through the opening four games is their lowest total since 2016. After scoring two goals in the season opener against CSUP, WT has now scored a goal in the run of play as their goal against ASU was from the penalty shot. RECORD WATCH Taylor played 84 minutes against OBU over the weekend taking her career total to 5,244, moving her up to sixth all-time. The senior is just 256 minutes played away from becoming one of four Lady Buffs to have played in more 5,500 minutes. With her three shots against the Bison on Saturday, Kelley-Lusk now has 110 for her career leaving her two shy of making the Top 10 in that category. It is likely that she will pass Jessica Rodriguez (2000-02) on Friday as the Farmington, N.M. native is averaging more than four shots a game this season. Senior Marlene van Mourik’s 13 career assists are the 10th most in program history. She has recorded at least three assists in every season at WT including a career-high seven as a sophomore in 2017. Estrada’s 11 saves on Saturday are the ninth-most in program history. She is also one of seven goalkeepers in program history to make 11 or more saves in a single game. 9 WINS AWAY FROM THE CENTURY MARK 10th year head coach Chad Webb is nine wins short of becoming the second head coach in program history to win 100 games. The former Buff standout is 91-73-20 during his tenure including four straight seasons with 10-plus wins and back-to-back NCAA appearances. Friday’s contest will be his 185th match since taking over the program in 2010. LSC PRESEASON POLL The Lady Buffs were picked to finish first in the Lone Star Conference Women’s Soccer Preseason Poll for the second straight year receiving 18 first-place votes. Newcomers Dallas Baptist were picked second followed by St. Edward’s in third, Angelo in fourth and Texas A&M-Commerce in fifth. He handled the bulk of the recruiting duties for the Lady Buffs, while also assisting with the Buffalo men’s team, as well. The Lady Buffs enjoyed a very successful 2009 campaign, as they advanced to the Elite Eight for the first time in school history and recorded a 15-3-4 overall record.
