this weekend as they hit the road for Lone Star
Conference action with a Friday night matchup at
Texas Woman’s at 7 p.m. followed by a Saturday
showdown with Texas A&M-Commerce at 2 p.m.

TEXAS WOMAN’S
The Pioneers are guided by first year head coach
Jeff Huebner who came to Denton from Middle
Tennessee State where he was most recently the
Interim Head Women’s Volleyball Coach after being
hired as an assistant coach in January 2016.
TWU enters the weekend with an overall record of
13-16 with a 9-9 mark in Lone Star Conference play
to sit in a tie for sixth place following a loss at Eastern
New Mexico before rebounding with a sweep at
Western New Mexico last weekend.
The Pioneers are led offensively by Briley Cole-Lewis
who has registered 266 kills on 701 swings with 127
attack errors to hit .198 on the season. Katy Ranes
paces the TWU offense with 1,162 assists (11.07/set)
while Bailey French leads the way defensively with
524 digs (4.99/set).
Texas Woman’s has registered 1,361 kills (13.0/set) on
3,985 attempts with 597 attack errors to hit .192 as
a team so far this season. They average 12.2 assists
and 1.0 service aces per set while tallying 1,727 digs
(16.4/set) and 184 total blocks (1.8/set) on the season.
The Lady Buffs lead the all-time series against
the Pioneers, 44-7 as WT claimed the last three
meetings between the two teams. WT is 14-4 all-time
in Denton.
LAST MEETING WITH TWU
West Texas A&M 3, Texas Woman’s 0 (10/14/17)
West Texas A&M ended the afternoon on a 13-4 run
as they swept past the Pioneers of Texas Woman’s
in Lone Star Conference action on Homecoming in
front of over 400 fans.
The Lady Buffs hit .274 as a team with 47 kills on
117 swings with 15 attack errors to go along with 45
assists, five service aces, 53 digs and 5.5 total blocks
in the win.
TEXAS A&M-COMMERCE
The Lions are guided by eighth year head coach
Craig Case who has led TAMUC to 120 wins, the
fourth most in program history. Case is the longest
tenured head coach in Lion Volleyball history.
TAMUC enters the weekend with an overall record of
18-10 with a 13-5 mark in Lone Star Conference play
to sit in second in the league standings following a
loss at Western New Mexico and a win at Eastern
New Mexico last weekend.
The Lions are led offensively by Layne Little with 270
kills on 882 swings with 92 errors to hit .202 on the
year. Gabriela Rosa paces the TAMUC offense with
621 assists (5.86/set) while Savannah Rutledge leads
the way defensively with 437 digs (4.16/set).
Texas A&M-Commerce has registered 1,380 kills
(13.0/set) on 3,946 attempts with 602 attack errors
to hit .197 as a team so far this season. They average
12.3 assists and 1.4 service aces per set while tallying
1,722 digs (16.2/set) and 250.0 total blocks (2.4/set)
on the season.
The Lady Buffs lead the all-time series against the
Lions, 40-13 with TAMUC claiming the first meeting
this season. The Lions are 13-7 all-time in Commerce.

A&M-Commerce 3, West Texas A&M 2 (10/13/17)
In a match that saw 27 ties and 14 lead changes, the
Lions of Texas A&M-Commerce picked up a hard
fought five set win in a thriller in front of over 1,000
fans at the WTAMU Fieldhouse “The Box”.
The Lady Buffs hit .140 as a team with 53 kills on
186 swings with 27 attack errors to go along with 51
assists, six service aces, 81 digs and 7.5 total blocks
in the loss.
SOUTH CENTRAL REGIONAL RANKINGS
The Lady Buffs remained eighth in the NCAA
Division II Volleyball South Central regional rankings
announced on Wednesday afternoon.
Regis sits atop of the rankings followed by Tarleton
State, Colorado School of Mines, Angelo State, Metro
State, Arkansas-Fort Smith, Texas A&M-Commerce,
WT, Texas A&M-Kingsville and Colorado Mesa.

HOME DOMINANCE
West Texas A&M is fortunate to have one of the
best home environments in all of NCAA Volleyball,
in any division. The WTAMU Fieldhouse is more
affectionately known as “The Box,” is home to
19 Lone Star Conference Championships, 13 Re-
gional Titles and three NCAA Division II National
Championships. “The Box” boats one of the best
home winning records in the NCAA on any level
of competition. The Lady Buffs are 467-74 at The
Box since the 1980 season for an incredible win-
ning percentage of 86.2%.
WT HEAD COACH JASON SKOCH
WT head coach Jason Skoch, a four-time LSC
Coach of the Year, is now in his ninth season at
the helm of the Lady Buffs, carrying an overall
career record of 389-92 (.810, 12th year) including
a 253-72 (.780) mark in Canyon. Skoch has led
the Lady Buffs to seven appearances in the NCAA
Postseason with three South Central Regional
Titles and a National Runner-Up finish in 2009.

YOUTH MOVEMENT
The Lady Buffs have played in 104 sets during
30 matches so far during the 2017 season. True
freshman Chandler Vogel has started 29 of those
matches at libero while four other freshman have
made appearances in the starting lineup so far this
season for the Lady Buffs.
THE LONE STAR CONFERENCE
Entering the week, LSC teams were 157-152
overall this season. The squads are currently
15-17 combined versus Rocky Mountain Athletic
Conference teams, and 13-6 against the Heartland
Conference, which are the other leagues in the
NCAA South Central Region
AVCA DIVISION II TOP-25 POLL (NOV. 6)
Concordia-St. Paul picked up 40 of the possible
48 first place votes in this week’s AVCA Division II
Top-25 Poll announced on Monday afternoon by the
association’s offices.
The Golden Bears sit atop of the poll with 1,191
points followed by Cal Baptist (7 first, 1,138), Lewis
(1 first, 1.064), Southwest Minnesota State (1,029),
Nebraska-Kearney (1,012), Minnesota Duluth (955),
Northern State (915), Western Washington (885),

own the NCAA Division II record for consecutive wins against
conference opponents, WT claimed 87 straight wins against the
Lone Star Conference between September 8, 2006 and September 13, 2011.
During that five-year span, the Lady Buffs claimed five Lone Star Conference
Championships and made three appearances in the NCAA Elite Eight with a
National Runner-Up finish in 2009.
26ALL-AMERICANS - The Lady Buffs have produced an im-
pressive number of 26 All-Americans in program history including
a pair of DII National Players of the Year: Cristina Pereira (1991)
and Sarah Butler-Carthel (1997,1999).

have dominated the Lone Star Conference over the past three
decades would be an understatement. The Lady Buffs own a
278-48 overall record in the LSC, winning an staggering 86 percent of their

have claimed 13 South Central Regional Titles on their way to the

Entering his ninth season at West Texas A&M in 2017, head coach
Jason Skoch looks to build upon the great success of his first eight
years as the Lady Buffs’ leader.
The 2014 campaign was another dominating run thru the Lone Star
Conference for the Lady Buffs as they went a perfect 16-0 in league
play to claim their 19th LSC Championship while registering a perfect
league record for the 16th time since the 1986 season. The Lady Buffs
participated in their 10th straight and 25th overall apearance in the NCAA Postseason. Skoch was
named the LSC Coach of the Year for the second straight season and his fourth overall award
since joining the league prior to the 2009 season.
2013 saw the Lady Buffs continue their dominance of the Lone Star Conference as the team
went a perfect 16-0 in league play to claim the program’s 18th LSC Title. WT hosted the South
Central Regional Tournament at “The Box” as they claimed the program’s 13th Regional Title, the Lady Buffs advanced to
the National Semifinal match before falling to BYU-Hawaii in a five-set thriller. Skoch was named the American Volleyball
Coaches Association (AVCA) South Central Region Coach of the Year as well as the LSC Coach of the Year for his efforts.
The 2012 season saw the Lady Buffs claim the LSC Tournament Title after a thrilling five set win over Angelo State in San
Angelo, Texas followed by WT taking the South Central Regional Championship to make the program’s 12th appearance in
the NCAA Elite Eight held in Pensacola, Florida. WT finished the season with an overall record of 33-5.
In 2011, the Lady Buffs went 34-3 including a 19-1 mark in the LSC for their sixth consecutive and 17th overall LSC
Championship. WT made its seventh consecutive trip to the NCAA postseason, Skoch picked up his second consecutive LSC
Coach of the Year honor. The Lady Buffs put their mark in the NCAA Record Books in 2011, recording the longest conference
win streak in Division II history of 87 matches from Sept. 8, 2006 – Sept. 17, 2011.
In 2010, the Lady Buffs finished the season with a 27-9 overall record and a flawless 14-0 mark in the LSC. The team won
its fifth consecutive LSC Championship and 16th overall. WT reached the NCAA Postseason for a sixth consecutive season
before Emporia State in the opening round of the South Central Regional Tournament. Skoch was named the LSC Coach of
the Year.
In his first season with the team in 2009, Skoch (rhymes with ‘coach’) led the ultra-successful Lady Buffs to fourth-
consecutive and 15th all-time Lone Star Conference title, 20th NCAA Regional tournament appearance and 11th NCAA
Regional title, and 11th NCAA Elite Eight appearance. The team experienced their fourth National Championship match
appearance in Lady Buff history and finished second behind three-time national champions, Concordia-St. Paul, finishing the
season with a 39-4 record.
Skoch currently boasts an incredible career win-loss record of 370-81 (.820) in his 12 years as a head coach, including a
234-61 (.793) mark in his eight seasons at the helm of the Lady Buffs. Before coming to Canyon, Skoch served as head coach
at Truman State. While with the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association-member, he guided the Bulldogs to four-
consecutive top-10 rankings in the AVCA final poll.
While at Truman State, he compiled a 137-22 record (.861), made five consecutive trips to the NCAA Tournament,
developed 11 All-America student-athletes as well as two MIAA Most Valuable Players. The Bulldogs
were MIAA regular-season and tournament champions in both 2006 and 2007, and spent a portion
of the 2005 campaign ranked number-one in the national polls. Additionally, the Bulldogs have
been ranked in the AVCA Division II Top 25 Poll every week during his tenure as head coach.
While still at Truman, Skoch recruited the 2009 AVCA National Freshman of the Year, Megan
Sharpe.
In 2007, Skoch’s squad set season records in kills, hitting attempts, assists, digs and blocks
en route to a 36-6 overall record, an MIAA tournament title, a No. 1 seed in the South Central
Regional, and a trip to the National Sweet 16. The 36 wins were the second-most in
program history, as the team won the MIAA East division for the second-straight season.
Truman went 13-4 in 2007 against teams ranked in the top-25, including a 6-3 mark against teams in the top-10 at the time of the match. The
Bulldogs went 5-3 in matches that went five-games and were swept just once - at the hands of eventual national champion Concordia-St. Paul in the
first weekend of the season.
Skoch has demonstrated success from the outset of his Truman tenure, as in his first season at the helm, Truman finished second in MIAA play
and won the MIAA postseason tournament. After opening the season ranked second in the preseason national poll, the squad jumped up to No. 1
one week later for the first time in school history. They held the top spot for six weeks in 2005. He capped off his first season at the institution with
a South Central regional title before falling in the Elite Eight against host and national-No. 1 Nebraska-Kearney.
The Bulldogs rolled through the MIAA in 2006, going undefeated and once again capturing the MIAA tournament championship. The season
was culminated with Skoch being named MIAA Coach of the Year. The squad spent five more weeks atop the national poll late in the season, and,
after being recognized as the MIAA Coach of the Year for the first time, Skoch’s squad was again selected to host the South Central Regional.
Skoch came to Truman after spending one season as an assistant coach at Mississippi State University. He was part of a first-year coaching staff
which led Mississippi State to an improvement of 11 wins overall and tied a school record for the most wins in Southeastern Conference (SEC) play.
Skoch also had previous NCAA Division II experience as he was an assistant coach at Central Oklahoma in 2003. Other coaching experience
for Skoch includes spending one season as head coach with the Stillwater Volleyball Club and the Kaeppa Oklahoma Charge Volleyball Club. He
is a former player with club teams at Penn State University, the University of Memphis and Oklahoma State University.
Skoch earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Oklahoma State in 1998, with a major in statistics and a minor in mathematics. He earned a
Master of Science in Statistics from Penn State in 2001.
Skoch and his wife, Karen, reside in Canyon with their children: Jay, Kyle, Kade and Emmie.
