This student research project aims to study how enhancing sewing skills can increase self-esteem. It plans to survey grade 9-12 dressmaking students on how important basic sewing skills are, how designing garments demonstrates ability, and how sewing can be applied daily. The study aims to benefit students by improving skills and self-esteem, teachers by identifying effective skill-building strategies, and schools by facilitating their goals. Previous research has found that sewing allows self-expression and boosts self-esteem through creations, and is similar to meditation in improving self-control and self-esteem.
