5. These parts show the first half of the film opening. The camera
tracks up to house slowly and cuts to a knife being pulled out of
its stand. We wanted to have cuts from tracking to short actions
as it will give the sense correlation between the two shots.
6. There is a close up of a hand stroking a knife in which we will
edit to make it speed up to give the sense of derangement.
The other shot is a birds eye view of a chopping board in
which the knife will slice through the tomato. The idea of
chopping a tomato is to represent cutting of blood and flesh.
7. The shot on the left will show the chopped tomatoes being
dropped into the saucepan. The other shot will be a close up of
the soup being poured into a bowl. After the soup has been
poured, there will be a birds eye view of the soup in the bowl
followed by a track in on the soup.
8. When the latter shot fades, the film title ‘Pieces’ will be appear then
fade again into the next scene. The next scene will have a close up of a
door handle followed by the door being opened by a character walking
in to the room.
9. There will be a pan of the character who just walked in, showing
going to sit down next to another character. From when the first
character is sat down there will shot reverse shots between them
as they discuss what film they want to watch.
10. These shot reverse shots show the friendship between the two characters.
11. There is a close up of various DVDs, just to show what one of
the characters were suggesting. We want this close up to
emphasis the light hearted mind of one of the characters as
none of the films suggested are harsh or violent.
12. In the two shot, a loud knock at the window makes both characters
jump with fright from being so relaxed. The next shot shows the
second character getting up to go and respond to the knock on the
window whilst the first character goes to a cupboard to get another
DVD out.
13. This shot shows the first character getting up from the cupboard
to respond to a scream from the second character. The camera
will pan the first character leaving the room quickly. There is a
close up of the first characters face when she enters the kitchen
where the scream came from.
14. There is a mid-shot of the second characters dead body from
the first characters point of view. Then there is a tilt up from
a pair of feet (the killer’s) to their shoulders. This is where the
2 minute opening ends. We don’t want to reveal the killers
identity at this point as the story could lead in many
directions.
