2. Production technician / Control room operator
Over 9 years experience in total of which 5 years I've spent learning and running the units via a
DCS Honeywell control system overseeing optimising and running various units. Experienced in
running a Crude distillation column .Desalter, Lpg unit, gas fired heaters, Vacuum Ejector Sets,
steam re-boilers, pumps, heat exchangers.
Lindsey Oil Refinery as a processing capacity of over 200,000 barrels per day .
The refinery as two cdu units with the ability to process up to 40 different blends of crude ranging
from high sulphur to sweet crudes with a combined processing capacity of 30.000 tonnes per day
of crude oil
Present roles and responsibilities
Adjust plant to meet current production programme targets.
Monitor and react to plant upsets and other abnormal operational conditions
Liaise with other site departments on product changes ie planning/blending and the laboratory
Record through shift handover log all information from process quality, safety and mechanical
issues.
Checks and continually monitors plant and equipment at regular intervals and
Carries out minor in service maintenance as required
Adhering to all current safety critical standard’s and procedure’s
Inspects plant and equipment for start up/shutdowns and take relevant plant
Out of service for maintenance initiate work request for trades
Authorise maintenance staff to work on the units under the permit to work system, and ensure
plant is isolated, de-pressured and safe to work on using our adopted safe means of working
S.I.O.P.E safe isolation of plant and equipment.
Update and review area specific operating procedures on a 3 year rolling cycle
Gas test carried out for vessel entry or process intervention work/maintenance
Trains new process operator trainee’s to operate the plant in a safe manor
Responsible for a small team of 23 operators
First line of attack at any fire or major emergency
Ensure all contractor’s/staff wear required ppe
