Senior executive of the trustee of an Aboriginal Foundation funded under a Land Use Agreement with
Rio Tinto Iron Ore. An autonomous executive role with accountabilities and reporting to a Board of 6
Directors. All achievements made under stringent budgetary constraint with support from a small
team (4 people). From April 2011 to April 2012 the position was filled on a full time contract basis
through Metanoia Consulting Pty Ltd. Thereafter (April 2012 to December 2013) the position was
directly employed after the position was advertised and I was invited to apply for a competitive
selection process through which I was successful.
Operational expenditure for the Trustee Office (average June 2011 to June 2013) $2.5 million. Capital
expenditure (same period) on programmes and projects to beneficiaries averaged $20 million. Funds
under investment (revenue increasing at average $8 million per year) grew from $51 million (June
2011) to $93 million (June 2013).
Major Accomplishments
● Complete reform of all financial, investment and governance settings for the trust and the
Foundation overall.
● Successfully steered the Foundation through major functional reviews and organisational
restructure.
● Commissioning and oversight of several detailed reviews and investigations involving
contracted professional services to guide reform process.
● Sustained savings against operational budget for the Trustee (20 to 25% of budget for each of
3 years).
● Rebuilding of confidence of the 1400 trust beneficiaries in the integrity of the Foundation’s
operations.
● Successful management of complex internal and external stakeholder relationships.
● Investments holdings increased by 80% [$51 million to $93 million] between July 2011 and
June 2013.
