The document outlines a marketing plan for a mobile game called "Alien Controller" aimed at children ages 9-12. The plan includes:
1) Describing the target audience as 9-12 year olds and setting the price at 99p to appeal to kids.
2) Proposing direct advertising on Cartoon Network and online, as well as indirect promotion through a publicity stunt involving an inflatable alien.
3) Suggesting promotions like a competition or giveaway to raise awareness of the game and familiarize people with its logo and branding. Stickers and leaflets would be distributed with a QR code for discounts.
2. Briefing
To use game salad to create an iphone
game.
Make an in depth marketing plan for this
game.
3. What my marketing will include
A review of the market for this product.
Description of the target audience.
The aims of an advertising campaign.
Draft for two possible promotions.
Schedule for the release of the promotions.
Description of how feedback on the campaign will be gained
and the feedback itself.
An explanation of the potential use of two official research
bodies in gaining feedback.
An explanation of the role of the ASA and other official
bodies in influencing the content of adverts.
4. My aims
To draw in new customers and get the
word around about my game.
Bring kids together through my game.
Create a trend between kids through,
merchandise Ie- Stickers, toys and T-
shirts.
6. Price
The game will be 99p on the app store,
as its aimed at kids and also as itβs a
new upcoming release.
7. Place
The game will be sold on the Apple app store.
Its function is an iphone or android interface rather
than a PC or games console.
There will also be a βbetaβ or βdemoβ version
available on the game salad arcade.
8. Game event calendar
PAX and E3 seem to be the
most applicable events for my
games release.
From this i think the best time to
get the word out about my game
would be early april before pax.
The best way to do this would
be either have distributors giving
out leaflets, t-shirts or stickers.
And then get the tv and online
adds out.
10. Rating for my game
My game fits into the 9+ rating-
To get to the treasure you have to run
through walls, parents could object to
this as stealing isnβt an idea to give kids
and running at walls isn't the best idea
either. As the idea of being controlled
by an alien could be intimidating.
11. Given the rating, style and difficulty
level of my game, it would be aimed
and most played by 9-12 year olds.
The merchandise would also appeal to
a younger audience but some might
appeal to a slightly older group.
E.g. The T-shirts. As the t shirts are of a
graphic and si-fi inspiration.
13. I started by deciding how to get the
audience to know about the game and
to get hooked. Advertising through a
kids TV channel would be the best idea.
I researched it and found, tuner media
innovations.
Where to advertise?
14. Where they advertise
I think the best channel to
advertise on would be
cartoon network, down to my
target audience.
21. Ideas-
I thought of various ideas in which i could
advertise my game-
Talk to a podcast or review company
/radio station to review my game.
Publicity stunt- Tentacle in the street
and stickers stuck around to finalise the
ad.
22. Feedback on ideas-
I got feedback on my ideas and found
the publicity stunt too be the stronger
idea.
23. Ideas
From the feedback i researched the idea to
see how realistic this would be and how much
a tentacle would be.
I thought the price was good
and realistic. I think too back
this up iβd stick stickers in the
surrounding area with a qr
code on for the game.
26. How to promote?
To promote my game i could-
Do a competition or t-shirt giveaway to
get people talking about my game and
too familiarise them with the logo.
27. I think sticking stickers around would be
good as if people saw them multiple
times they be curious as to what it is
and also have someone distributing
leaflets and stickers in the street and
too people . Iβll put a qr code on there or
redeem code (alien50) for 50% off the
game and the QR code will take you to
where you need to enter it.
28. This will be used for my stickers and
leaflets as if there the same it would be
more familiar too the customer.
30. Evaluation
Overall my marketing plan went well
and after peer & teacher feedback there
were only a few things that need and
were worth adding/changing so iβm
happy. But next time or if i had another
chance i would us my time better and
just work harder as i felt with more work
i could have added and thought about it
more.
