FOCUS GROUP
CONCLUSION
By Tim loe
MASK FOR THE ANTAGONIST?
 After mixed opinions we resolved that the antagonist would not
need a mask, as long as he is not revealed much and his
  costume is dark.

PROTAGONIST TO BE BOY OR
TEENAGER?

 Everyone agreed that a boy would be best to fulfil the role of the
protagonist, as it would be more realistic, and is more suited to
the narrative (which is heavily associated around nightmares)
PROTAGONIST AND/OR ANTAGONIST
ON POSTER/MAGAZINE?
 We discovered that it was best to have the protagonist and
antagonist on the magazine, and for the poster, just the protagonist,
and the shadow of the antagonist (similar to the paranormal activity
  poster).

HOW WOULD WE SHOW WE ARE
AUTEURS IN OUR PRODUCTION?
 We concluded that this would be shown through a variety of
unconventional shots, and also use of focusing. Some other ideas
included that perhaps we could show part of the story through the
  antagonists eyes,
HOUSE - NICE HOUSE/HAUNTED
 HOUSE ETC?
 For this question we decided that the house should be in a remote
place, such as a forest (which was suggested), but the house
shouldn’t look run down, because it may start to look unrealistic.

 SOUND? -
 ATONAL/DISSIDENT/ORCHESTRAL
 The focus group suggested that orchestral sound would be best,
since it is conventional in trailers, however I do not feel this is right
for our horror trailer, with regular jump cuts. I feel atonal sound
may be the best option, but we will experiment with this during
  post production.
SHOT AFTER TITLE CARD WITH
ANTAGONIST OR NOT?
 It was decided that there should be a shot after the title card. This is
because it will give the audience a final scare.

SHOT TYPE FOR
POSTER/MAGAZINE?
 For the poster everyone thought a long shot may be best, so that the
shot looks very open, and therefore an element of solitude can be
  portrayed from the poster.
 Whereas for the magazine, we thought a more eye-catching shot
was necessary, since there will be more text on it. We felt that
perhaps a medium or long shot was best.
BACKGROUND?
 The final question was considering the background for the poster
and magazine. We concluded that as long as the background was
dark, and fulfilled the role of enforcing the element of solitude, a
black background, or a background of the scene (bedroom) would
  fit.
