2. MY FILM CHOICE – PLASTIC
Plastic is a short film that deals with the obsession of body image.
Whilst Anna is preparing for a first date with Henry, a man she has secretly loved for years, everything goes
wrong until she discovers the impossible - to sculpt her appearance like clay to any shape she desires.

3. TITLE
One of the main references to being fake, the title of the film. I personally love
the fact that they’ve decided to call the short film plastic, due to it being about a
female character who is obsessed with her body image and hints to her being
fake with the amount of time and make-up she applies to her appearance.
4. STORYLINE
I personally the liked the storyline as a whole, the fact that it is revolved around
the obsession of body image.
The short film deals with a female with the obsession, but it could be both
female and male have the obsession.
The storyline also made me realise how a lot of the population are over
obsessed with their body image, which is great for raising awareness of it.
5. GOOD POINT OF THE FILM
It made a lasting impact on me for such a low-budgeted film.
The short film focuses on the girl who is stressing out a lot about what her
appearance is like, which refers to a stereotypical female in the media’s eyes.
The short film can be used as a campaign to help raise awareness, the
background music at the beginning had a rather deep and emotional tone to it.
6. BUTTERFLY
In the film they use the prop of the butterfly which is shown flying around her
apartment whilst she is getting ready to go out. Near the end of the film the
butterfly is seen flown into the wall and dies. After this happens the female
character is shown opening the door to her date with her ‘Plastic’ face and body
returned to normal. It’s almost saying when the butterfly died, the obsession
died with it. Referring to something that can be beaten.
