Editor's Notes
Hello! This presentation is all about the professional me. It’s my digital imprint so you will have a better understanding of my accomplishments and skill sets.
My professional statement can also be found on my Linked In profile . I’ve attached a link. I’ve been an Entrepreneur for the last 10 years. Before that I was in Sales and Marketing in various areas from product sales and marketing to service sales and marketing. Being in sales and owning businesses I naturally fell into the field of Instructional Design, Technology and Human Improvement Performance. This is what led me to further my education and gain a M.S. in Instructional Design and Technology.
I’ve attached my resume for your review. It highlights my previous employers and the duties that I performed at each one. I launched my company, Candy Cane, LLC, 10 years ago and opened a couple after I got a taste of launching companies. My sales and marketing background has helped me sustain and my newly acquired knowledge about Instructional Design and Technology has helped me analyze and improve my own businesses.
More about me and my education. I’m receiving my M.S. in Instructional Design, May 17 2019. My B.A. in English from Ohio Wesleyan University helped me formulate my business plans and sales and marketing plans. Communication is key in many endeavors.
Human Improvement Project for F.U. and co. was very rewarding. It truly help me get an understanding of how the Human Performance Process works and I was able to produce the deliverables and finish the project.
I’ve also used my Instructional Design skills and completed a digital Training Module for F.U. & Co and Candy Cane. In the process, I completed and published Surveys, Pre and Post Test and created ways to measure the success of my recommendations and deliverables.
Here are a few examples of some of my completed works. A website rewrite, Customer Satisfaction Survey and Product and Sales Training. I ‘ve also worked with Illustrators, Animators and Web Developers to complete my most recent project.
As an Instructional Designer, I have obtained competencies that I use to complete Human Performance and Instructional Design Projects. I have experience in working with: LMS, I published a couple training modules using Captivate, Google Slides and PowerPoint. I had to use Learning Theories and Models to formulate a plan and make adequate recommendations. I’ve implemented the use of technology in conjunction with deliverables.
Working on the F.U. & Co. project has helped me learn the process of Human Performance. From conducting a series of analysis to determine the gaps. To communicating the gaps and devising recommendations. Using KPI and Deliverables to produce change and measure results. The process has been energizing and I look forward to conducting many more.
It’s important to understand the Learning Theories. Knowing the history of knowledge and the most effective ways to teach or to present knowledge is key to designing a unit of education or making human performance recommendations. This chart displays the most popular theories or schools of thought. Many overlap, but also have clear distinctions. It’s important to know them all, so they can be used as a basis for projects, but not a blueprint.
As Instructional Designers, we are encouraged to think outside the box, but not reinvent the wheel! Not an easy task. The ADDIE Model is the most widely used. Then the SAM was introduced. Although ADDIE is still the most popular, Instructional Designers must devise different ways to design instruction and to therefore alter the models to suite the project.
My plans are to use my professional background in sales, marketing and as a business owner to consult other business and to join the eLearning community as a professor. I begin my Doctoral journey in Instruction Design and Technology August 2019 and looking forward to seeing you all out there in the eLearning world.
