1. Than/ as compare to/ in comparison with: dùng để so sánh
đồ vật hoặc người, đặc biệt là khi so sánh số lượng (number
or amount)
Ex:
 This year profits are much higher than/ as compare to/ in
comparison with last year’s
 Mortality sales are lower for women as compare to/ than
men

2. As against/ as opposed to: từ nối dùng so sánh các số liệu
(figure or piece of information) để cho thấy sự khác biệt/ nổi
bật.
Ex:

 One study predicted that 42% of female university graduates
would remain single the rest of their life, as opposed to just
5% of male graduates

year.

- Samsung does not sell as many phones as Apple, with
300.000 items compared to 500.000 items

Son Tung MTP sold 230.000 CDs in 2010, whereas Black
Pinks sold 2.000.000.
 Black Pinks was considerably more successful than Son
Tung MTP, with selling 2 million CDs compared to 230 thousand
in 2010
 In 2010, Son Tung MTP was not quite as successful as Black
Pinks, with 230 thousand CDs sold as opposed to 2 million.
