Zoology is the scientific study of behaviours, habitat use and other things about animals. Information & Communication technology can be used in Zoology. This presentation is about the use of Information and Communication technology in Zoology science. Here you can get some knowledge about the use of ICT in Zoology. ICT has been used in Zoology learning & teaching progresses, finding human-wildlife conflict resolution, Veterinary services, Wildlife protection and conservation.

conservation.
3. ZOOLOGY
What is Zoology?
Zoology is the scientific study of the behavior, structure, classification,
and conservation of animals.
4. The role of ICT in learning ZOOLOGY
Learning of zoology can be made easier and more comfortable by using ICT tools. ICT can
change traditional classroom into a smart classroom and improve teaching and learning
process in zoology.
• Can observe animals by using videos
• Easy to use and save time
• Can gain knowledge about animals using Wikipedia
• Detect slow motion videos for observe movements
• Ability to see skeletons of live animals using x-ray
5. Human-Wildlife conflict resolution using ICT
At this time human-wildlife conflicts are increasing due to the destruction of
forests by humans. Now zoologists have invented new ways to reduce
human-wildlife conflicts like Electronic fences, Ultrasonic animal repellent,
Wildlife cams.
6. 3d printing technology used in Veterinary services
Bio printing or 3d printing is an innovation that could give animals a second
chance to live.
Animals who are injured or lost their body parts will not die further, because 3d
printing technology can help them.
Up to this time, only a few animals are conserved using 3d printing technology.

7. Impact of ICT to the wildlife protection & conservation
ICT has helped zoologists, veterinarians, and animal takers to monitor, and evaluate their
populations to protect and help them.
• Threatened wildlife database.
• Monitoring and visualizing its population.
• Habitat use and preferences.
• Planning and management of conservation programs.
• The progress of conservation activities.
• Comparison of historical and present wildlife diversity.
8. Impact of ICT to the wildlife protection & conservation
Information and communication tools like remote sensing, satellite tracking, and GPS and
other tools are used to monitor and protect wildlife and humans.
GPS tracking
GPS animal tracking methods are used to follow wild animals and
Finding their populations etc.
9. Remote sensing
Remote sensing is an important tool in the study of animal behavior providing zoologists
with the means to understand species–environment interactions in combination with
animal movement data.
Satellite tracking
Networks, or groups, of satellites are used to track animals. Each satellite in a network
picks up electronic signals from a transmitter on an animal. Together, the signals from all
satellites determine the precise location of the animal. The satellites also track the
animal's path as it moves.
