PROFESSIONAL SUMMARY
Import Activity:
- To frequently update information to Purchasing and Supply Chain Manager about Imported
raw material, machine, spare part, chemical...situation and propose solutions for urgent
shipment.
- To manage the work of opening L/C based on the term and condition of sighed contracts
between the company and Suppliers - to ensure the work is correct and timely.
- To master situation and shipping arrival information and communicate to related parties
when necessary.
- To negotiate and work with forwarders to solve problems to ensure cargoes to be cleared as
planned.
- To evaluate the performance of the forwarders together with Purchasing manager when
processing tender...
Export Activity:
- To work closely with Sales Export and Planning to master the export schedule and fulfil all
requirement of exporting finished goods.
- To communicate with all related parties to have proper and timely actions to make sure
there will be no delay on schedule...
Work with the customs:
- To support Purchasing manager/ Supply Chain Manager to negotiate with customs
regarding the HS code matching and tax rate for all imported goods, to solve any problem
concerning to import, export procedures.
- Directly contact to solve any issue concerning to import, export, taxes and duties, import
material liquidation for import tax refund...
- To clarify with the Customs if anything is unclear about new customs law, regulation,
stipulation...
Other:
- To supervise and support team members on routine work to meet target requirements.
- To maintain smooth cooperation within the team and with Managers and other sections/
departments.
- To monitor and manage customs norm, liquidation of imported raw materials used for
exported goods to get import tax refund, balance input-output-balance, alert risk to the
Managers if any unexplainable unbalance figures between customs dossier and accountant
document/ actual production data
- To report directly to Purchasing Manager/ Supply Chain Manager
- To ensure all information of import-export documents are correct and can be quickly and
effectively accessed as per requirements when there is order from the line managers.
- To search and apply FTA preferential tariff by instructing the customs broker to apply
appropriate certificate of origin

- To learn and apply customs formalities, new regulation, customs law...in compliance to
avoid obstacle as well as penalty, deploy new customs regulation to the related department/
section to adapt with the law
- To fight with the Bureau of Customs, customs broker service...if anything is vague,
unreasonable, late,...in their performance as well as wrong guidance to the Company
- To take full responsibility of expense on import, export; freight; customs broker service’s
price, Vietnam local charge and overseas charge
- To advice the Managers how to get best benefit in dealing with import, export as well as
avoidance of taxes & duties retrieving in post customs inspection later on, risk of taxes &
duties due to changing of customs/ import-export policies in VN as well as overseas countries
in case of export DDP or import EXW...under which shipping term the Company have to be in
charge of customs clearance in both countries
ACHIEVEMENT (at Huhtamaki (Vietnam) Ltd.)
Huhtamaki (Vietnam) Ltd. Is a global company, its head office is located at Findland,
specializes in flexible packaging, some customer: P&G, Nestle, Unilever...;
Import-Export Supervisor report directly to Purchasing Manager, manage a team including 01
subordinate and 06 staffs of customs broker
1- Improvement idea:
- Gold award of improvement idea to save over VND 800.00 million in 2014
- Some other improvements which create good effort on import, export: change import, export
shipping term (from import CIF to import FOB/ EXW, from export FOB to export
CFR/CIF/DDU...) to control ocean/ air freight; found double insurance for import, export
cargoes to stop it; extend debt term from 45 to 60 days towards whole of the customs
brokers, forwarders; change the container size from 2x20’ to 1x40’ to save the cost...
2- Cost control:
- Work with the customs broker via bidding/ close quotation to reduce their service price down
to 5%
- Apply rebate policy on the contract with the customs brokers, forwarders, couriers...
- Cost out: VND 835,842,759.00 (excess target 35%)
- Additional charge due to late import cargoes’ releasing: VND 0.00 (meet 100% target)
- 2013 exporting freight versus budget: make up 88.52% against budget, price decrease
11.48%, meet 100% target
3- Customs fighting:
- Fighting with NZ customs via the forwarder to get back USD 33,000.00 of import tax at New
Zealand due to their wrong import tax collection in post customs inspection during the period
from Mar 2013 to Mar 2014 for the export shipments to New Zealand under the term DDP
- Work with Binh Duong Customs to relieve the customs penalty due to post customs
inspection for 05 years from 2009 to 2013
4- Insurance claim:
- Claiming the Insurer to get the compensation for the damaged cargoes during the marine
transportation for over 05 issues
5- Good performance:
- No DIFOT (Delivery In Full On Time) due to import customs procedure
- No failure vessels for all export shipments, over 90% URGENT import shipments were
released as the production requested to avoid air request form the Customers
