Days (NTD’s) throughout the United States. The NTD consists
of both classroom and pool sessions. The course is designed

YogaFit’s Level 3 takes trainees on an introspective journey
of self-awareness. Trainees will spend time discussing meta-
physical and philosophical aspects of yoga and the effects
that yoga has on the mind-body connection. Through study of
the Four Paths of Yoga and chakras, trainees take a deeper
look at the transformational power of their own yoga practice.
Then, using YogaFit teaching tools, trainees will learn how to
integrate these concepts into their classes, making them a
richer experience for participants.

Pranayama-Learning Five Different Breathing

“Pranayama” is composed of two Sanskrit words: “prana” and
“ayama” or “yama”. Prana translates as “life force”. Prana is
the energy behind all life expressions, moving, thinking, feeling.
“Ayama” means a lengthening or restraining and “yama” means
to restrain or hold back. Putting the words together gives us
“pranayama” meaning to “restrain or master the life force”. We
willusepranayamatodrawyouintothepresentmomentandinto
our bodies. We will use the sensitivity generated by pranayama
toenhancetheeffectsofposturesandhelpyoutoavoidinjuryby
increasing body awareness. We will learn how to use pranaya-
mabeforeandduringtheposturestocultivatetheexperienceof
prana (life force, breath) through the body and mind.

sprints, more powerful throws and higher jumps. Discuss the
parallels between aquatic and land based plyometric training
and learn which plyometric drills are recommended for im-

and more. However, plyometrics aren’t just for athletes! With
appropriate instruction, and a swimming pool, group instruc-
tors can incorporate plyometrics into classes as personal
trainerscanincorporateintotrainingregimensforclientsrang-
ingfromweekendwarriorstoeliteathletes.Plyometrictraining
is an advanced progression: proceed with caution.

types of Yoga to do based on desired lifestyle changes and
to enhance or counter-balance sports and exercise done on
a regular basis (running/cycling/weight-lifting, golf etc...). This
workshop is appropriate for anyone with any level of yoga
experience.

The Unlucky 7: Seven Exercises to Avoid in the

This interactive course covers 7 exercises that should be
avoided in the gym. This class builds on the information dis-
cussed in the previous presentations. Class participation will
entail demonstrations, discussion, and correct techniques.

Older Adults comprise the fastest growing segment of the
American population and aquatic exercise can help them
maintain functional fitness and independent living skills. A
thorough review of the physiological aspects of aging will
introduce group exercise leaders and personal trainers to
important considerations for working with the older adult
population. Other topics include marketing, program benefits,
exercise and class formats, intensity modifications, teaching
hints, instructor skills, pool equipment and contraindications.

Lucy Van Orden has been involved in the Dance and Fitness World
for over 30 years as a teacher, trainer, mentor & student. Through
thesedanceyearsIhavealwaysincorporatedsomeformofPilates
to my training. Certified in the Dance and fitness field combining the
two areas help me to strengthen my knowledge of teaching to oth-
ers. My love for fitness is sharing with others how to teach a great
and knowledgeable class.
JackieLebeau
Jackiebeganherfitnesscareerattheageof17.Awaterbabyfrom
the age of 3-months old, Jackie has been involved in aquatics her
entire life from taking and teaching swim lessons, competitive swim-
ming, lifeguarding, and playing water polo in college. Thanks to the
encouragement of her supervisor in high school, Jackie chose to
pursueteachingwaterexercise.Teachingwaterexercisewasajob
skill Jackie was able to bring with her to college where she quickly
decided that a career in fitness was her destiny. Jackie soaked up
as much fitness information as possible during her four years at
Virginia Tech and upon graduation proudly boasted certifications in
AEAaquaticexercise,ACEpersonaltraining,andAFAAgroupexer-
cise. During graduate school at The University of Southern Missis-
sippi, Jackie began her yoga journey through the school of YogaFit
and now holds a Yoga Alliance Approved 200-hour Registered
Yoga Teacher certificate.

Dr.AllenManison
Dr. Allen Manison owns and operates Columbia Advanced Chiro-
practic, LLC in Columbia, Maryland. He is a cum laude graduate
of Life University, a chiropractic professional graduate school. He
earned an academic scholarship and received the Clinical Excel-
lence Award upon graduation. Dr. Manison is co-founder of PRO
FORM INSTRUCTION, L.L.C. Dr. Manison is one of 245 profession-
als who have achieved the stature of Diplomate Sports Physician,
asdesignatedbytheAmericanChiropracticBoardofSportsPhysi-
cians®. He has undergone extensive training to earn the designate
of Certified Chiropractic Extremity Practitioner (CCEP) from the
Council on Extremity Adjusting. Dr. Manison is an ACE® certified
personal trainer and he also holds the certification as a CSCS®
(Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist®) from the National
StrengthandConditioningAssociation®.HeisalsoaCorrectiveEx-
ercise Specialist (CES) and Performance Enhancement Specialist
(PES), as certified through the National Academy of Sports Medi-
cine® (NASM®). Dr. Manison is currently the medical director for
Corrigan Sports Enterprises (CSE). He is also currently enrolled at

ShayeMolendyke
An avid runner, Shaye started practicing yoga in 1998 after her IT
band pulled completely out from her knee during a long run and
immediately stopped her in her tracks. Devastated, she stumbled
across a yoga DVD and found the next best thing to a runner’s high!
Within weeks of practicing she knew she would teach yoga some-

Registered Dietitian. Lesley  has been a practicing Registered Dieti-
tian for the past 16 years.  She received her Bachelor of Science
Degree in Food and Nutrition from Florida State University, and
completed her Dietetic Internship at the Yale-New Haven Hospital
affiliated with the Yale University School of Medicine.  She went im-
mediately to work at one of the nations premier medical institutions,
The Johns Hopkins Hospital, in Baltimore Maryland where she re-
mainsemployedonaparttimebasis.   Inadditiontoherclinicalwork,
Lesley has been honored to provide countless nutrition lectures to
community groups, various businesses, dietetic interns, and medical
students. She also teaches nutrition to disadvantaged high school-
ers in Baltimore City.  Her goal is to reach out to the community and
