2. Objectives & Outcomes
Obj: Participants will be exposed to a host of in-demand careers and
professions for their consideration. Participants will complete an online
career interest assessment. This tool will gauge their interest in a variety of
fields and will provide a springboard for future discoveries.
Interns will….
1. Learn strategies and techniques for effective job searching
2. Create a job profile by using ONET : “My Next Move”
3. Gain a concrete understanding of Maintaining data on jobs and workers,
including labor force, employment and unemployment, industrial growth,
occupational trends, and wage rates, are increasingly important to
remaining competitive in the global marketplace.

4. Job vs. Carreer?
CAREER:
…..People who want a career are
always thinking about their long-
term goals. They are thinking about
what they can do now to make
those goals happen in the future.
JOB:
….Beginning job seekers often must
work hard for little money. It might
take a few years to earn bigger
paychecks and have more
interesting job duties, but these
lower-level jobs can lead to great
opportunities.

5. Activity 1
• Activity One: Use Onet: MyNextMove.org to explore and expand your
knowledge your career choice(s).
• Directions:
1. Use the tools on https://www.mynextmove.org/ to conduct your
research.
2. Make a chart listing the education and experience required to obtain
your desired career occupation(s). You may choose more than one
occupation.
Ex. Emergency Nurse Practitioner requires an Associates in Nursing or a
Bachelors and obtaining a Registered Nurse license.

6. Activity 2
• Activity Two: Explore Career One Stop to find out find out which jobs
are in demand, have the largest employment, or are declining.
• Directions:
1. Go to www.careeronestop.org and see if your dream
occupation is in demand!
2. Review the Metro-Atlanta High Demand-Occupation-List and see if
your dream occupation is in demand!
3. How many people are employed in that career field?
4. Provide a brief summary of the job description, roles, and
responsibilities.
