Increase the quality of your product and process with the Nip Pressure Alignment Tool. A system used to ensure proper machine setup and nip alignment to increase yield and reduce waste.
5. WHY USE THE NPAT?
• Take the guesswork out of machine
set-up
• Capture real-time data to verify
pressure distribution and nip contact
• Quantify tool integrity
• Improve process and efficiency
• It’s affordable and easy to use!
6. FEATURES & BENEFITS
Sensor band:
• Two sensor model resolutions
to support different roller sizes
•Standard band measures
pressures from 25-4500 psi
(available in custom pressure
ranges up to 7500 psi)
Rugged Electronics:
• Single set of electronics
covering a large area
•Connected to a standard
Evolution handle; one USB
connection to PC
•Protected by ruggedized
enclosure
Sensor Band Interconnect:
• Bands are easily replaced and can be
serviced in-field
Carrier:
•Polycarbonate sheet that supports &
aligns sensor bands/connectors for easy
alignment when taking measurements
•Easily rolled up for storage & lays flat
when unrolled
•Includes a removable plastic sleeve that
protects from wet environments
Configurable Sensor:
• Large sensor with multiple sensor
bands whose length and spacing can
be configured to match the dimension
of the nip being measured
•Bands can be spaced to show
pressure footprint and nip width
across the roller

Rollers are used for making paper, printing images and laminating material. The contact between these rolls is called a nip. To achieve high yields, fast speeds, and other desirable behavior, the nip needs constant adjustment. Tekscan’s very thin, flexible sensors easily fit between two rollers in the same way as the media being processed, giving you a real-time view of the nip. Measuring and adjusting the nip width and pressure profile along the roller axis are critical to machine design, alignment adjustments, preventative maintenance, and efficient production.
