2. Symptoms
• The yellow spots bearing aecia in clusters ar
e earlier symptom.
• Rust commonly appears as a colored powder,
consisting of minute aeciospores that land on
the fenugreek plant generating pustules (ure
dia) on the ventral leaf surface.
• During late spring or early summer of the disea
se cycle, yellowish orange to dark brown, hair-li
ke (ligulate) structures called telia develop on t
he leaves.
• Small, round or oblong, dark brown pustules on
the leaves and petioles are commonly observe
6. • It is an autoceous long cycle rust.
• It produce all the spore stages in one ho
st.
• Fungi produce Urediospores‚Teliospo
res,and aeciospores.
Etiology
12. Mode of Survival and Spread
• The urediospore survive in fall sown grai
ns.
• Urediospores and aeciospores act as prim
ary source of inoculum and capable of lon
g distance travel.
• The disease spreads by wind-borne uredo
spores from infected crop.
•
14. • Under cool and wet climate the diseas
e appear more.
• Temperature ranging from 20 to 25° C w
ith relative humidity of 86-92%RH favours h
igh intensity of rust.
Epidemiology
15. • Cultural practice:
• 1)Good cultural practices should be appli
ed
• 2)Plant should be well fed and watered.
• 3)Good field sanitary measures should be
taken.
• 4)Remove infected leaves and crop debri
s.
• 5)Use drip irrigation to keep the plant dry.
