2. Feminist
Here the police officer sees her as a sex object and is wanting
her to perform acts on him and she uses this to get out of the
ticket he would give her so this is feminist. This is also shows the
power dominance she has over the police officer which can also
be seen as post feminist because she has taken control and is
showing herself off to prove the power she has and is keeping
the gaze on her.
Here the press are taking pictures of her as a sexual object as
she is wearing a bikini under her jacket and it is visible. This
suggests a feminist tone as she is being seen as an object and
thus sexualised through the representations found in the media.
However this can also be seen as post feminist because she
enjoys the attention and is directing the gaze at her by blowing
a kiss to the camera meaning she wants the attention to all be
at her and wants males to look at her in that way.
This part of the video has a feminist tone to it, as the man
driving the car says to Britney “get in” and she does
accordingly. This suggests that males are dominant to
females who are seen to be inferior to men as Britney gets
in the car, thus following the orders of a male character
showing her being a subject.
3. Post Feminist
This is an example of post feminist because usually men would do this to a
woman but because she is doing this to a guy she is in control and has decided
to be the more dominant gender in this image. In a feminist point of view the
male would be seen as dominant and use a woman as an object so by
performing this act it shows that she wants to use them as an object instead
of the other way round making it post feminist.
Here she is using her body as a way to distract men in a way so that they
will look at her and sexualise her so this is post feminism because she
wants to show off her body and provoke the men. She is making sure that
all the male gaze is projected at her so that she can stay in control.
However this is also feminist because she has to use her body as a sexual
object to get that control and to gain the male gaze so this also has an
element of feminist.
Here this is post feminism because she is removing the camera men and
making them leave her alone by using her microphone to wipe them out,
this is her taking control. This shows she is dominant over the men
creating the post feminist feel because of the fact that she is commanding
the space and this subverts generic stereotypes associated with women
adding a post-feminist feel to the video.
The first item of clothing we see on Britney is her studded high heels. The high heels give
her a sense of empowerment over the reporters as she is stood in front of them standing
tall with the heels on and also the studs and style of the shoe are usually seen as something
worn by someone who is very dominant and powerful so she is giving off this image.
However this can also be seen as feminist because high heels give woman more of a sexual
appeal towards men so by wearing them she is trying to gain male attention making it partly
feminist.
