1. Production Log

2. Sunday 1st November
• Today we started filming in Chicksand Woods.
We took instruments with us (Guitars) and we
got some film done that we could use for our
video but also took lots of pictures to use for
our album cover and advert.

3. Tuesday 3rd November
• I started to look at the footage we got and
decided that the band we had didn’t work
because of travelling problems and also that
the song I had was copyrighted so we had to
search for a different song that would work so
we had to change a lot of things and try and
fix them as quickly as possible.

4. Thursday 5th November
• I was editing the new song we chose to make
it longer by copying parts from the song and
adding them in again at different points
because the original song was only 2:36
minutes long so I tried to make it longer by at
least 30 seconds and this took a lot of trial and
error to try and cut it at the right points and
fade it in so it didn’t jump in the middle.

5. Tuesday 10th November
• Today I was still trying to edit the song to
make it longer and it was a lot more difficult
than I thought because I couldn’t get the
points to look in well enough for it to not be
noticeable so I asked for Harmony’s opinion
and asked her to have a go to see if she could
think of any other points that would work
better.

6. Wednesday 11th November
• I did some filming with our new band and new
song and we went into the Common where
we found a waterfall setting and a very nature
based setting with the autumn colours and
feel it worked quite well. I got parts of the
filming done and took more images to make
into polaroid's for the inlay sleeves of the
album.

7. Thursday 12th November
• I made the Band profile on Photoshop and
included information about the band whose
song we are using and about who they are
and where they have played that is significant
such as festivals and on the radio etc. This is
so it shows that we know what is meant by
the Pop/Indie theme.

8. Tuesday 17th November
• Started trying to put some of the footage with
the new edited song and found a few clips
that work well over the music. Decided on
another location for filming and have got
props such as mic stands and instruments for
Wednesdays filming session. I also assisted
with the making of the polaroid's and decision
making on the best images for them.

9. Wednesday 18th November
• I did some more filming after school in the
drama studio where we had a black stage and
a spotlight which worked really well because it
isolated the band and made it look really
effective on the film and we used different
angles to make sure we had a range of shots.
There is still more filming to be done but we
are slowly getting more and more.

10. Thursday 19th November
• Today I used the footage and film from
yesterdays filming session and started putting
it on the song and started trying to fit pieces
in and see where different parts could fit in
with different effects and seeing if the black
and white theme would work and I think it
does as it makes it more effective especially
with the spotlight.

11. Friday 20th November
• I couldn’t do much more on the editing of the
video because we needed to film more
footage before I could start to piece it
together properly so I started thinking about
the font we were going to use for the front of
our album cover and decided what will look
the best and also suit the style we are going
for.

12. Wednesday 25th November
• We used the drama studio to film for our
music video and this went really well because
we were able to use a spotlight with the black
stage which gave us some really good footage
even though one of the band members
couldn’t make it we had the lead singer which
was what we needed most film of.

13. Thursday 26th November
• We went into the Common and took pictures
of the trees and different settings to use as a
blurred image for the background of the back
cover of the CD cover. It took us quite a long
time but we took loads of pictures to choose
between in the next lesson and then we could
edit them to the way we wanted them.

14. Friday 27th November
• We worked together to decide on the best
way to edit the image we chose. We tried to
blur out the background of the image and
focus the two trees that were in the image.
We also experimented with the different
colour contrasts and made it slightly brighter
just to see if it gave it a better effect or not.

15. Tuesday 1st December
• We continued with our album cover to try and
get that to its best by trying out different fonts
and images to make it look professional. I also
worked on trying to link the album to our
music video with similar style such as the
black and white but decided we didn’t think it
would look as effective and wouldn’t stand
out as much.

16. Thursday 3rd December
• We went into Hitchin town for our double
lesson and we filmed round the lead singers
house where we got footage of him in his
house and garden but also little bits of him
walking into his house and walking down the
stairs which we will put into our music video
so that we can then start editing it more.

17. Friday 4th December
• We continued to work on our music video
with the footage we took the day before
which I put in at the beginning with different
effects. This filled our music video more so we
only needed to film a little bit more and then
we could finish editing it completely. We also
looked at our album cover and decided to
change it slightly because we didn’t think it
was effective enough.

18. Tuesday 8th December
• Continued to work on the music video to try
out different shots that worked better in
different places and added different parts over
the top so they overlapped for example. I was
testing out different ways I could do this by
using different opacities so they could be seen
over the top of the other footage which
worked really well together.

19. Wednesday 9th December
• We went to my house to film the last bits for
the music video where we got footage of the
drummer on a drum kit and also started to
take images for the poster and also for the
polaroid's which would go into the music
video once we had them all. We also took
footage in my living room where they were
very casual and talking to continue the
realistic feel of the video.

20. Thursday 10th December
• We put the last bits of filming into the music
video so that we could start adding in the
concept of polaroid's which would be at the
beginning of each different shot so it was
throughout the video. We also made a collage
on Photoshop of all the different polaroids we
took so that could go at the beginning and end
of the video.

21. Friday 11th December
• Continued working on video to get the final
effects done on the filming and making sure
everything was linked up to the music and
tried to make the shots change on the beat so
it fitted with the music better. Started to add
in polaroid's but didn’t get much of this done
as it took a bit longer than planned as there
was complication with sizing the image and
fitting it in without moving the lip syncing
parts of the video.

22. Tuesday 15th December
• Finished off the last touches on the video and
put the last polaroid’s in. We then started the
poster and changed the album slightly so the
text was the same on both and we both
decided on a better font and one that worked
well on the poster and on the album.

23. Thursday 17th December
• Finished video just made sure everything was
in order and that it worked well. Album cover
was finished so I started on inlay sleeves
which I used the polaroid’s into a collage and
put them onto the sleeves. This made sure
there was a link to the music video as it was
similar to the collage we used in the video.

24. Friday 18th December
• Video, album and poster got finished so we
started work on some of the research we
needed to finish off such as audience research
to see if there was anything we needed to
change before it was completely finished so
we knew we had time to change it just incase.

25. 12th- 29th January
• Coursework was finished off completely,
started work on evaluation pieces and made
sure that all of the research and planning was
completed to a high standard and started
posting everything on the blog.
