Overview:
•After initiating an energy-efficiency survey in 2009 in conjunction with
Tennessee Tech University and the U.S. Department of Energy, FUJIFILM
Hunt Chemicals determined that its steam-generation capabilities
needed upgrading
– To meet its goal of energy economy and reduced downtime for its
cyclical manufacturing processes, the company chose two EX-200
SGO dual-fuel units from Miura
• This project also included the infrastructure to connect
the existing steam pipe headers in order to create a
central steam generation center
– The On Demand Boilers definitely provide better cost-efficiencies,
current figures indicate a savings of approximately 24 percent in
natural gas costs
• Downtime reduction

Project Title: Boiler Replacement – On demand
• Supporting Elements:
– Whereas we once had two boilers with a full combined
output of 450 horsepower, we now have one on-demand
200-horsepower boiler basically running the facility on low
fire, with the second on-demand Miura sitting there on
standby.
• 1,100 ft of new pipe and condensate return Installed on
any existing stack, making this a potential translation
opportunity for all sites with boilers.
– On Demand Boiler requires excellent water quality.
otherwise, there are losses in efficiency and unplanned
downtime occurs
• Collection tanks were installed to monitor and maintain
acceptable water quality. Good water quality helps to
minimize scale build up and maintain the best operating
efficiency.
• A conductivity controller in each building assures that
contaminated water does not reach the boilers
