5. THE FUNDAMENTALS OF ISLAM
• Islam as a religion dates back to sixth century CE 562-632, Mohammad(M), the
Prophet, was the founder of Islam.
• Islam is a continuation of Abrahamic Monotheistic Belief system as practiced and
propagated by Judeo- Christian conventions.
• Islam therefore considers people of monotheistic faith Muslims before the birth
of Prophet Mohamad(M).
• God is Allah(A), Prophet (M) is the messenger of (A), Quran(Q) is the word of (A),
the book revealed to M.
• Shahada: That A is the only one God and M is his messenger.
6. CORE
PRINCIPLES OF
ISLAM
• Shahada. Testimony that A is the only one God
and M is his final and last Messenger
• A created the universe and A is omnipotent,
omnificent and omnipresent. You worship only A
and his will prevails, the time of your Birth and
Death is already determined, you are from his
spirit and you will rerun to A and, in after life ,
there will a day of reckoning and heaven and hell
will be accorded depending on your deeds that
pleases or displeases A.
• M is the last and final prophet and Quran(word of
A) and Practices of M (Sunnah) replaces earlier
biblical and nonbiblical prophets, scriptures and
Gospels.

8. JIHAD
• Jihad (English: / dʒ ɪ ˈ h ɑː d /; Arabic: جهاد jihād [dʒɪˈhaːd]) is an Arabic word
which literally means striving or struggling, especially with a praiseworthy aim.

20. ISLAM VS
OTHER FAITHS (
CHRISTIANITY,
BUDDHISM,
JUDAISM)
• Islam is distinct by virtue of the Emphasis on
Orthopraxy, the practical aspect of faith are more
important than merely having a belief.
• Other faiths put more emphasis on Orthodoxy.
• Both orthodoxy and orthopraxy are the same in
terms of doctrines and beliefs but orthopraxy has
more emphasis on practical and action oriented
approach to religion. Will be explained in detail as
to why the daily rituals prayers, charity, fasting,
dress code, dietary prohibitions and so on become
critical. More discussion on this subject later.
