Seven years ago Portsmouth Graphic Design graduates, Mark
different. With no creative injection, attitude and passion at a
certain nameless clothing brand, I love Dust was subsequently
born. With an everexpanding portfolio spanning products,
illustration, graphics and photography – ILD have worked with
Art Director Jason CK Miller leading to a Graphis Platinum award,
whilst also being selected for the Communication Arts Design
annual. Through recognition and contracts being built home and
abroad, these local lads have done well.
With two design boutiques situated in the idyllic Southsea and
the cultural hub of eastend London, Shoreditch, I love Dust have
their creative fingers dipped in both country and city scenes, an
influence which seems to work well with the company’s ethos,
and reflected in an selection of their design products. Comprised
of a core team of 15; it is a hybrid cluster of ‘local lads’,
international members and an everpresent intern which work
town, city (and the Atlantic) to work on an impressive portfolio
of screen prints, editorials, advertisements and photography.

A typical day in the studio (yet to say typical is a stretch of the
imagination) is a 7.30 start, followed by an 8.30 plan of action,
leaving the team of eight to juggle 25 projects at one time,
alongside feedback and correspondence. Graham quips, “It
differs day to day dependent on feedback from clients, yet it
certainly helps you to nurture your time management skills! It
is not unusual to still be working online at midnight.” So what
keeps up the team spirits and momentum? “Music!… There is a
continual iTunes battle in the studio, yet the mood often varies
the choice of song. It can be anything from The XX to X
Factor… anything goes.”
