2. Bank Robber foiled
Yesterday, at 8:16pm, a bank robber, with no identification, was
arrested, after shooting a brave officer who was willing to sacrifice his
wellbeing, for the wellbeing of others. Officer Smith was shot by the
robber, when the CCTV mysteriously stopped recording. When it was
back up and running, Officer Smith was found on the floor, and the
robber standing in shock. Reinforcements arrive and apprehended the
robber. Paramedics operated on Officer Smith at the scene, which
saved his life. The Robber is now in jail, until the court hearing, which
will occur once Officer Smith is fully recovered. He has been awarded a
medal for bravery and a promotion to police chief.
5. •Extreme Poverty
You are the father of a family of 3. You don’t have a job as you have no
qualifications. You feel sorry for your children. They are hungry , sad and
bored. You have a mere £10 note. You could either go and buy food and a £1
toy, or, go to the casino, risk losing everything, however, you might win 5
times as much. What do you do?
6. Bankrupt!
You’ve lost everything!!! You’re children are still hungry. They are slowly
dying. All thanks to you. Guilt is surging through your body! You have to
do something; but what… Begging or job hunting?
7. Smiles like the sun
Their smiles and their laughter and joy ignite a spark; long awaiting this
opportunity. You want to do it again, but you have no money. You need some
money. How do you go about getting it? Begging or job hunting?
8. Humiliation!
After a whole day, you’ve earned 16p. You cant do anything with that. You are filthy
and humiliated. You’re kids walk by and see you. You need redemption. How do you
go about it? Rob a little corner shop, or try begging again tomorrow.
9. Humiliation!
You went to the job center, and other small businesses. You weren’t able to get
a respectable job. You still need to see the joy on your children’s faces. What do
you do? Rob a corner shop, or try begging?
10. SUCCESSS
You’ve successfully robbed the corner shop! You’ve bought your children loads
of food and clothes and toys. You enjoy the adrenaline rush and the fact that it
is for a good cause. You decide that you are going to rob a bank! You’re going to
the big leagues! You still have some extra money. You can either buy a gun and
improve your chances of success, or, leave the money to your children so they
have something if you get caught. What do you do?
11. Humiliation
For the whole day you only earned 16p.
Anger is coursing through your veins you have hit an all
time low. Someone approaches you in your state and
says he will offer you a gun if you rob a bank and you
keep 75% of the profit. You agree to rob the bank
12. An ominous figure approaches…
He is wearing an overcoat. In a deep voice he says” I heard that you were going to rob
the central bank. I believe we can make ourselves a deal. Say… A gun for you to use, in
return for 25% of the money.” Your reply is…
13. Moral crisis
You’re in the Bank. You’ve got the money. You’re about to leave. A police officer
is standing in the doorway, blocking your only exit. You can either shoot him
and run or let yourself be captured
14. WAIT!!!!!
Before you can do anything the policeman pulls a switch
and tackles you to the ground, taking your gun off you. He
says that the switch turned of the power supply
temporarily. He then says that he is wearing gloves to
make sure that he doesn’t leave finger prints. Before you
have time to react he shoots himself with your gun. His
words before he blacks out is “promotion I win; good luck
in jail”. You look for exits, but you have no choice but to
stand still. You are shocked.
15. Jailbird
You are in jail. Your life is over. Your children are now orphans(their mother is
dead). Finally they can find a parent who can care for them .
16. Review
You have seen the event from the robbers perspective.
Looking back at the report do you have anything to say?
17. Well done!!!
During this presentation you have mastered the skill of empathy. You’ve seen the
same event from different perspectives. You put yourself in the robbers shoes, and
have made all of the important decisions that have had a huge impact on the
outcome. You now see the power of perspective. When you are writing about your
view on an event, or a passage of writing, remember to view it from another persons
point of view. See how it impacts them. Furthermore, when you are making
decisions in everyday life. Look at what the impacts will be on yourself, and others.
Remember, that empathy is the key to perspective, which is the key to success; not
only in your writing, but your life.
18. Thank you for watching.
