• Proficient in all aspects of fast response rescue craft, surf launching, skippering and
maintenance
• Marine motor installation of outboards and inboards including diesel motor/gearbox
installations and electrical marine wiring including jet drives.
• Proficient in operating small displacement vessels, piloting and navigating ie. Tug boat type
vessels, displacement vessels with dual engines
• Strong engineering skills and able to maintain, trouble shoot and perform repairs on all
types of onboard systems

PROFESSIONAL EMPLOYMENT HISTORY:
2000-2015 Fibretech, Boat Manufacturer and Fibreglass components, S.Africa.
Owner/Designer. Fibreglass boat manufacturing for the offshore marine
environment, which included designing, constructing, mould making in GRP, composite
product manufacturing including vacuum and infusion manufacture.
1997-1999 Auctioneer machinery, Kwa-zulu Natal, S.Africa- Self-employed.
Refurbish/Owner. Buying of Auctioned Military equipment, ie trucks, vehicles,
trailers which include the refurbishment off the said equipment bought, and then
resold.
1987-1996 Commercial Fishing, Kwa-Zulu Natal, S. Africa- Self-employed.
Director/Owner. Commercial Fishing on the SA coast for twelve years and on the
Mozambique coast for 8 months (over 10,000hrs daytime and over 4000hrs
nighttime as the Captain in charge of fishing vessel and 9 man crew) 1 month trip on a
fuel supply vessel of 157tons as 2nd in command on a salvage job.

Welding inspector. Working on the carline inspecting and checking for correct
welding and panel alignment, prior to painting which included the correct welds per
vehicle prior to being put on the line.
1981 Telkom- SA communications, Congella, S. Africa.
Trainee Telecoms techicnan. Posts/Telecommunications in Exchange construction.
This involved all the wiring and checking that it was correctly in place.
1980 Goswell Enterprises, Aluminum smelting/foundry plant, Pinetown, S. Africa.
Assistant Manager. First job building a foundry for smelting aluminum which
included a bore mill for separating the aluminum from the dross, then cleaned
aluminum was feed into the crucible and once the aluminum was liquid it was poured
into ingots, cooled down and packed awaiting delivery for sale
PERSONAL STATEMENT:
• Since 1981 when I completed my apprenticeship at Congella Technical College with a NTC 1
Electrical certificate. I have thrived on creating a rewarding and varied career for myself. My focus
has been on marine products from design & concept. All my products have been hands on
fabrication developing a range of products and components.
• Being self employed now for 25 years has sharpened my ability to overcome complex tasks rapidly,
independently and cost effectively. Includes training staff to my high standards which has not
always been an easy accomplishment however very rewarding.
• With my partner/wife of 22 years we have build a successful small business. We started our family
later in life and proudly have a daughter age 8yrs and a son aged 6 years they are being educated
ina small local school in Darnall in Zululand.
HOBBIES
• Spearfishing on a regular basis throughout my career
• Scuba diving
• Mountainbiking
• Represented Natal Spearfishing at Provincial level for 3yrs- 1987 won provincial
championship at Knysna.
