FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
The State Theatre Presents “Jake Shimabukuro”
State College, PA
January 24, 2013
The State Theatre presents Jake Shimabukuro as part of the World Music Series on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at 8pm.
Ukulele master Jake Shimabukuro has taken the four-string, two-octave instrument to a new level, performing music that
ranges from jazz, blues and rock to blue grass, classical and folk.
Jake started playing the ukulele at the age of four, when his mother gave him his first lesson. Immediately fascinated by the
instrument, he eventually began playing regularly at a local café. Fast forward several years and Jake now has his own record
label, and tours extensively in the U.S. and Japan. Jake has rewritten the book on the possibilities of the Ukulele – and is
adding new chapters with every CD he records.
His live concerts are an out-of-the-box blend of virtuosity, musicality and a natural entertainer’s flair. For information on
tickets for Jake Shimabukuro on April 24th at 8pm, please contact The State Theatre Box Office at 814-272-0606 or go online
