Shear Force And Bending Moment--KPC/CE/1st year/Mainak Biswas
1. SHEAR FORCE & BENDING MOMENT
PREPARED BY: MAINAK BISWAS

KINGSTON POLYTECHNIC COLLEGE
2. SHEAR FORCE
• When equal and opposite forces act tangentially on
any cross-sectional plane of a body tending to slide
one part of the body over the other part then the
body is said to be in state of shear.
3. BENDIND MOMENT
• MOMENT- When a object is subjected to a equal and
opposite forces and it tends to rotate in clockwise or anti-
clockwise direction then it is called couple system; and the
value of moment is = force x perpendicular distance
between the forces(couple arm)
= P X l
4. BENDING MOMENT
• The moment which tries to bend the object is
called Bending Moment.
Here the value of Bending Moment = P X L
