Today I am asking for £12,000 for 30% of my project.
(Slide one) The bucket list.
The Bucket list is a list of activities and/or achievements a person wants to complete before
they die. The name comes from the phrase ‘kick the bucket’ which is used to describe a
person’s death.
(Slide Two) The Idea
My idea Is to create a fly on the wall documentary that will follow a group of teenagers who
are trying to complete aspects of their bucket list, within my documentary I will include
activities such as, Sky diving, Road trip, Scuba diving, zorbing, Afternoon tea,
camping/stargazing, watch the sunset, go to the top of oxford tower and look across oxford,
meet a celebrity, fire walking, winery and brewery tour, paintballing. Within the
documentary we will also be looking into the positives and negatives of creating a bucket list
and will go out into the public to find out their thoughts and opinions on the bucket list.
(Slide Three) Preview
I have put together a short preview video to give you a sneak peek into the final production.
(Slide Four) Why?
So the question is why you should invest in me, well not only is my project idea unique and
interesting it is also fun. The Documentary will target a large teenage audience and
considering they are the high majority of film and television watchers it means that the
documentary is likely to be a huge success.
(Slide Five) Target Audience
My target audience is aged between 17-25 year olds as we are trying to teach young adults
about the bucket list. We are trying to attract people who are young, free, adventurous,
don’t mind taking a risk and want to have fun.
(Slide Six) Market Competitors
In the UK the main channels that show documentaries aimed at the same target audience as me are;
BBC Three, Channel 4, Channel 5 and MTV.
Most of the documentaries made and shown on these channels are independent film makers, they
are usually created about body issues, holidays or recent events in the news.
This has shown me that there is a high possibility of my production doing well in the industry
because there are not many productions with the same ethic for my target audience.
(Slide Seven) Resources
Editing suite- per day it approximately costs £500, I will need to use the studio for 4 days; in
total it will cost me approximately £2000.
Cameras- per day it approximately costs £150, I will need the camera for 14 days, in total it
will cost me approximately £2100
Studio time-per day it approximately costs £250, I will need use of the studio for 2 days, in
total it will cost me around £500
Cast- per day I will have to pay my cast approximately £300, I have 6 cast members who
each make an appearance 3 times therefore It will cost me approximately £5400
(Slide Eight) Personnel Requirements
Personnel requirements that we will need during production will be catering,
accommodation and travel. Catering will be £10 per head per day, so it will
approximately cost £180 for the two weeks of filming. Travel will approx. cost £30
per journey, so the final amount will be around £240 and accommodation will
approximately cost £686 for two weeks staying in the premier inn.
(Slide Nine) Cast
I have seven members of my cast, Sophie Earl, Georgina Nelson, Charlotte Hollis,
Annie Rose, Hayley McCarthy, Freddie Goring, Ed Ryding and Myself. The roles and
activities to be completed will be split between the seven of us, some activities will
include more than one of us others will be individual activities.
(Slide Ten) Crew
Cameras- During filming I will have help with setting up the cameras and recording
the segments, I will have around 2/3 cameras being operated when filming.
Sound- I will have a crew member on sound during each filming section, using one
crew member on each camera, I will need 2/3 crew members.
Lighting- I will have 2 members of the crew on lighting, in the case that lighting is
wrong or an angle needs changing I will need their assistance.
Editing- when it comes to editing I will have 2 members of the crew helping out.
Overall I will have 10 crew members.
(Slide Eleven) Budget
My budget is £11600, this will cover the cost of cast and crew, location and activities,
cameras, editing suits, editors, studio time, travel, accommodation and catering.
(Slide Twelve) Project Schedule
This is the timetable for my project. *follow Table describing what and why*
