Human anatomy is the scientific study of the structure and organization of the human body. Anatomy can be divided into two parts - macroscopic (gross anatomy) and microscopic anatomy. Microscopic anatomy includes cytology, the study of cells, and histology, the study of tissues. The body is made up of cells that form tissues, organs, systems, and the whole body. There are 11 body systems including the skeletal, cardiovascular, integumentary, nervous, respiratory, digestive, urinary, lymphatic, endocrine, muscular, and reproductive systems. Each system consists of specific organs that work together to carry out important functions necessary for the survival and health of the human body.
