2. • Before diving into a title and opening sequence in groups, we had to create a preliminary
task. It could be on any scenario we could think of. And my group chose going to the
doctors. We used techniques such as the 180 degree rule, shot reverse shot and over
the shoulder shot, which we had just recently learnt at the time. This meant that we had
little knowledge, and only 30 minutes to film, plan and edit our piece on an iPad. So we
only had access to iMovie.
3. CINEMATOGRAPHY
Preliminary unconscious
One improvement that we worked on was our cinematography. First of all we were able
to have access to DSLR cameras, allowing us to have the ability to have very detailed
close up shots, therefore giving us the opportunity to have a wider range or shots. Our
preliminary task certainly lacked a range or shot types and angles, as the iPad we were
using couldn't’t focus like a camera can. We also weren't able to play around with the
ISO and aperture so we had to rely on the light we were using.
4. EDITING
preliminary unconscious
Editing was certainly the biggest difference between the two pieces. Firstly, for unconscious we
were able to use Adobe Premier Pro, which is professional editing software. This gave us the
tools to precisely cut and edit our footage. Also we were able to insert titles that we designed
ourselves in after effects. We have been able to access so much more, due to the time we
were given to do it. This therefore led us to create multiple drafts and we were able to work on
our piece lots.
5. MISE-EN-SCENE
• There are 5 aspects of mise-en-scene, and all 5 were developed in different ways in
comparison between our preliminary and our final piece. Here below you can see the
difference in props we used. On the left, we were only available to basic props that were
lying around the room. However for unconscious, we could use props such as guns. This
added a higher production value and made is seem more realistic. We were also able to
use better costumes, make up and our setting was very good as it was abandoned, for
our title sequence, making the world seem apocalyptic.

6. CONCLUSION
• In conclusion, I think that I have obtained a large amount of knowledge during the process
of creating my final piece, compared to my preliminary task. This information has been
obtained through my personal development of editing, and other aspects of production. It
will certainly help me in my future tasks.
