Interviews
Jesus,
Contract Manager
How long have you been with the company and what do you do?
Jesus: I joined SPIE as a Project Engineer three years ago and later became Contract Manager.
I manage all the operational aspects of a contract on a day-to-day basis. This includes logistics,
finance, procurement, costs and technical aspects. The current project I manage involves an
offshore floating production storage and offloading facility, for a client in the oil and gas industry.
What do you like about the job?
Jesus: Working for the oil industry is very exciting. Energy is a vital component of society
and civilisation today. This industry is a cornerstone of the global community and has a
direct impact on the global market. If you contribute to producing energy solutions, your
work can potentially benefit a very large number of people. It is very rewarding to be a part
of such an endeavour.
What do you like about working for SPIE?
Jesus: The thing I enjoy the most is the freedom and independence that SPIE gives you. I
joined the company coming from an environment that was highly compartmented, with
little room to develop professionally. With SPIE, I have a much wider scope of action, I can
interact with more people, within a larger organisation. At SPIE, you can really take your
career into your own hands, be creative and show what you can offer.
