Tell us about your career at SPIE.
Fabien Delaunay: I was hired by SPIE Ouest-Centre in 1988 in the Piping department. I was
gradually given more responsibility on site, and I became a pipefitter. I then was given in-house
training so that I could become a team leader. About ten years ago I joined the Industrial
Transfer unit as a works supervisor. There, I learned to perform estimates and to transfer

division Industrie.
What does the Industrial Transfer business do?
F.D.: If a customer needs to set up a production line in a different industrial site, we are
responsible for transferring the machines. We do everything – reconnoitring the site,
dismantling the machines, organising the transport and logistics – all around the world. We
can also make changes on machines (automation, robotics, etc) and perform both preventive
and curative maintenance. My role is to meet with customers in order to make a commercial
proposal, receive the order from the customer and then organise the operation from A to Z
with two works supervisors (human and material scheduling, cost management, etc).
How important is this activity for SPIE?
F.D.: It’s not very well known within the Group. We face the challenge of getting it better
known internally.
