The document describes a mobile application called Treat Eczema that aims to help individuals manage their eczema condition. The app provides real-time weather data on temperature, humidity, and other factors to help users understand how weather affects their eczema symptoms. It uses the Patient Oriented Eczema Measurements assessment to track users' skin condition over time. Testing showed that users found the weather information and risk measurements useful for managing eczema. While the app was well received, enhancements could include reminder features and additional customization options.

2. Introduction
● Due to technology growing rapidly fast, people are relying on smartphone for
convenience and accessibility.
● A mobile application is introduced to help individuals with eczema manage their
condition.
● The app provides real-time data on temperature and humidity levels for specific
locations to understand how weather affects eczema symptoms.
3. ● Atopic Dermatitis , also known
as Eczema, is a skin condition
characterized by dry, itchy, red
bumps, and inflamed skin. Can
occur at any age, particularly
common among young children.
● Eczema is not life-threatening,
individuals with this condition
often experience itching.
Background Study
● The weather can indirectly
affect eczema. Such as a windy
day may carry pollen, triggering
an allergic reaction and causing
a rash.
● Weather conditions can affect
eczema and implementing
appropriate strategies as it can
help individuals with eczema
maintain better control over
their symptoms and improve
their quality of life.
● The Patient Oriented Eczema
Measurements (POEM) is a
typical approach and tool
developed for eczema sufferers
to assess the severity of
eczema inflammation.
● Majority of experts are urged to
use POEM as that of the
preferred instrument for
assessing the basic scope of
symptoms for all upcoming
trials
5. System Overview
● Proposed system uses Firebase Firestore as a cloud database for storing user
information (first name, last name, email, password) and POEM results.
● Weather information is obtained from OpenWeather API, including current, hourly, and
daily forecasts, as well as air quality index.
● Plugins utilized in the application: geocoding and geolocator for obtaining user location
(longitude and latitude), open_file and pdf for generating PDF reports of recent 7 POEM
tests submitted by users.
● Stable internet connection is required for tasks such as authentication (login and
register), updating current location, retrieving weather data from OpenWeather API,
smooth data storage in the database, and fetching data from Firebase.
7. Development tools used
● Flutter (using Dart as the programming language) will be the framework for
building the mobile application.
● Firebase will be used as the database solution for data storage and retrieval.
● Visual Studio Code will be the code editor for implementing the application's code.
● Android Studio Emulator will be used for testing the application's behavior on
virtual devices.
● Physical devices can also be used for testing the application.
● OpenWeather API will be integrated to provide accurate and up-to-date weather
information displayed within the application.
8. POEM Test Questions
The Patient Oriented Eczema Measurements
(POEM) conduct a total of 7 questions and it is
urged by the majority of the experts to use
POEM Test as it is considered the preferred
instrument for assessing the range of symptoms
in eczema trials.
11. 17 users out of 30 thinks that the weather
information and risk measurements is very
useful in managing eczema
Result & Discussion
For testing, the application has been sent to a
total of 30 users in apk files for User Acceptance
Testing - Usability and Effective. All of the users
will then provide feedback after testing.
12. User Acceptance Testing - User Interface. All of the
users will then provide feedback after testing.
Result & Discussion
13. For feedback, 23 out of 30 users are delighted
with the system.
Result & Discussion
There are future enhancements that are
voted/suggested by users as well, one of the
users suggested that the system could let users
to be more flexible in changing profile details,
other than that most users voted on theme
customization such as dark mode and light
mode.
14. Conclusion
● The proposed application is a mobile app designed to track users' daily skin condition and provide
weather information for outdoor activities.
● Users can check hourly and daily weather forecasts to plan outdoor activities in advance.
● Weather details include temperature, precipitation, air quality index, and humidity, which are essential
factors impacting eczema skin conditions.
● The app saves POEM question records for users to review and share with their doctors during future
visits, facilitating better tracking of their skin condition over time.
Limitation
● The existing application built by other developers are using outdated flutter which most of the library
and documentation are not usable or hard to understand.
● Doesn’t had much documentation related to eczema that are still valid (recent 5 years)
Future Work
● Implementing a reminder feature to notify users when it's time to take the POEM test every week.
● Adding theme customization options to improve the user experience by allowing users to personalize
the app's appearance.
● Implementing the ability to detect and display weather information for other locations, enhancing the
application's usefulness and flexibility.
Conclusion, Limitations and Future Work
